These guys are awesome! They showed up right when they said they would, were very friendly and efficient, fixed the lock quickly and charged exactly what they said they would. I will never use another locksmith in NYC. I've heard horror stories about locksmith's but these guys broke that mold. So happy to have found them and HIGHLY suggest you use them over anyone else. read more

Ummm, damn. Jay is a rockstar. Unbelievably prompt, friendly communication, plus he set up a time to change out my locks outside of their normal service area on the day I was leaving town. Isaac, who did the actual change, was quick, nice, and totally on it. Love. Them. read more

If only more companies were as impressive as Lockbusters! Jay responded to all emails/texts immediately, was in-and-out in 20 minutes, and even honored the price of the cheaper lock when he only had the more expensive option available. He was incredibly reliable, friendly, and I would absolutely recommend Lockbusters! read more

Jay was great, courteous, and informative. I recommend him without hesitation.

I was locked out of my apartment late night and called them up, they were quick to respond and quoted me a reasonable price. He was on his way and somehow the security guard at our building was able to get me in with a spare key. I cancelled the service and he was very understandable of the situation, he did not even charge me a cancellation fees. Very professional guys! read more

They responded with a quote right away. They were very helpful in choosing a lock & my appointment was scheduled for the next day. Very professional and fast service. 10/10 recommend! read more

Jay is the man! Easy to communicate with. Super Responsive. Showed up on time. Did a GREAT job. Super happy with the work. Was quick, courteous, fair and clean. Took all forms of payment (cc in my case). No bait and switch. No sketchy pricing. Knowledgeable, friendly and a great job. If you need someone to do a lock, you've found them. Everyone else I spoke to on yelp seemed iffy at best. Don't believe me? Message him for yourself! Thanks Jay! - Installed an august lock for me, that thing is super cool. read more

A new apartment in New York City means a secure front door is a must. Needing a deadbolt lock added to a steel door is a job for a pro. That service is just what Jay provided. Appointment was on time and the job was neat and easy. Highly rated, A+, look no further. read more

Worked with Jay to have the Mul T Lock cylinder changed for a rental apartment. I need a cylinder changed because I lost the copy card you need to make copies. He performed the work as promised. Scheduling was easy and he was communicative throughout the entire process. As a landlord, it made the process simple and he got it done. read more

Jay was incredibly helpful! He was professional, thorough, and affordable. I needed a new doorknob and deadbolt for an apartment door. When I called, we scheduled an appointment that was convenient for me. He arrived on time with everything he needed to do the job efficiently. I'm very grateful. read more

I contacted Lockbusters to have my locks changed. I have to say all of the great reviews were 100% accurate. After speaking with Jay on the phone and getting prices, which were very reasonable, I sent him a picture of my locks. Once he arrived he informed me that the setup didn't need the more expensive locks that he originally suggested. This was amazing in itself. He also called to inform me that he was running 10 minutes late, which was great. He also gave me advice on what to do with my sliding door. He could have easily charged me higher prices and suggested that I get more than what I really needed, but he did not. He was professional, courteous, and efficient. He changed two locks and added a third lock in around an hour. Overall, some of the best service I have ever received from any business and I have no hesitation recommending him to anyone. read more

I'm right there with everyone else - Lockbusters absolutely deserves their great ratings. After I had my purse stolen - with wallet and keys inside - I was dreading having to call around and figure out a locksmith to come and replace my locks. When I called Jay, they didn't have as many reviews here yet (this was over a year ago), but those that were there were good, so I gave them a shot. And I'm so happy I did - Jay was able to come by first thing the next day, and this was after contacting them late in the evening. Fast, punctual, professional, honest about prices - and on top of all this which I would consider quite enough to earn the 5 stars - he was super nice to my little niece and roommate's dog who were fascinated by what he was doing. What more could you ask for? read more

I found Jay through a google search. I needed to have my locks changed for security purposes and he came out right away to make me feel more secure. He was thorough and fast, and explained everything he was doing. Later, I locked myself out, and he came immediately and got me inside. He was fantastic and professional. He's definitely a trusted source something so sensitive, and I will call him again if anything comes up. Thanks, Jay! read more

The most honest, friendly and professional locksmith. EVER. I was locked out of my apartment and Jay met me this afternoon (on time) to help me into my apartment. He charged me a very fair price. Would highly recommend his services. I found him based on his Yelp reviews and I have to say, everyone who has posted a glowing review on him was right. Thanks, Jay! read more

Jay was quick to respond, professional, friendly and price was right in line with others - highly recommend!

I've worked with a variety of locksmiths/security companies and can confidently say that Jay is the best. He is friendly, professional, determined, and get's the job done. Our building recently got new locks and a J-bar installed. He clearly communicated with us at every step of the way! Jay's service was fast and seamless. Highly recommend!! read more

Lockbusters were extremely communicative when I asked them for a bid for a deadbolt. They immediately asked me for photos to clarify what they needed to make the quote. They wrote back quickly, came on time, cleaned up after their work. Exceeded expectations! read more

You are not a customer, you are a yelp rating. Please allow me to explain... I just had a horrific and traumatizing experience with Jay at Lockbusters in which I was literally reduced to tears. I've never experienced such nastiness and as a returning customer, I deserve better. Jay Insists that customers communicate via text but there is a loss of human connection and text leads to misunderstanding. I left a VM to try and speak directly and normalize tensions and was shut out. It's unfortunate that my warranties are with Lockbusters albeit non-applicable to my situation but I have 1 new job that I was eager to enlist Jay's services again. It was to be my 3rd job with Lockbusters and my warranty inquiry via text was just that... an inquiry. After it was made clear by Jay via text that I was interrupting him while having coffee in traffic and no way for me to have known this, I think I may need a locksmith/handyman with more of a human connection. I am an online retailer and I know that tensions are high everywhere right now. I also practice meditation to manage these tensions. In a text where I genuinely asked that Jay relax and breathe [an occupational hazard of a meditation instructor], I received a reply that I'm being condescending and that he is not my lackey- I don't even know what lackey means and again, text is not the way. [Jay, my apologies to you if messaging at 8:31 AM was too early but I was just excited to do business with Lockbusters again. I genuinely thought something had happened to you after a text message was not received in April and this is why I referenced April's no-reply... again, a text snafu. UPDATE: In response to this review I was finally telephoned and YELLED at to which time I hung up. I then immediately received a text that I would be hearing from his lawyer. If anyone is in disbelief of anything I have stated here, DM me for full text transcripts via screenshots... I can supply them via jpg/WeTransfer link. This is insane and if I was catching Jay at a bad time, the appropriate thing to do would have been to simply text a later time to connect. read more

This company is great. They helped me almost immediately a pinch--locked out of my apartment at night while my oven was on inside, with me 7 months pregnant and desperate to sit down inside my home. Really really good service. I was locked out of my apartment after a really long day of work and was exhausted. Lockbusters were very responsive and sent Dean immediately. Highly recommend Dean - honest nice guy, knows what he is doing, gets the lock changed super quick (20min), door was not damaged at all. Service was also reasonably priced. Definitely recommend! read more

I felt that the technician Alex was trustworthy, and very knowledgeable installing security cameras and safe. You get what you pay for.

Great experience from Lockbusters. The prices are posted right on the website and Jay is upfront and honest about everything. Couldn't ask for better service. Jay was great at communicating all through the process. I had a top lock put in on my apartment, and Jay called before he arrived to let me know he was on the way. He was very fast and expertly explained to me everything he was going to do and did throughout the process. Stop reading the reviews and give Lockbusters a call. You will not be disappointed. read more

Yesterday, I needed a locksmith. A nuisance roommate was finally (and reluctantly) leaving, and had hinted before many times he knew how to pick locks and could get back into the apartment if he wanted. I just wanted some extra peace of mind. It was time for a lock change. In NYC, locksmiths are known for being unreliable, crooked and shady - especially in the boroughs. As a Queens resident, where could I turn? And I knew I had to act fast. Cue Jay and the heroes at Lockbusters. A relative found him here on Yelp - we're all Yelpers - and pointed out Lockbusters to me. I read his great reviews and gave him a try. I am so glad I did. I sent Jay an email via his website as indicated, and in less than 10 minutes, he himself called me asking how he could assist me. I told him the situation, and he immediately met me at the Queens location with a professional, amazingly tidy presentation, state-of-the-art tools, and a crisp, upbeat, friendly and professional attitude. He quickly sized up the door, explained several lock options to me with their pricing, and let me decide which was best for the situation. Then Jay got straight to work, and in moments had rendered me a fantastic new lock, the toughest there is. It's easy to pay Lockbusters, as well; Jay has a high-tech, very cool portable card receptor so we Visa and MC customers can obtain great lock service as well. I am now high and dry in my lovely apartment and confident I am safe inside it. The lock on the door makes me feel confident. It's classy, gleaming new, and installed professionally. Air couldn't get through it. I'm so amazed how quick and easy the whole thing was. Jay is amazing because he instills confidence, he's fast, he's ultra-professional, he's courteous, and his work is absolutely top drawer. This was Upper West Manhattan-style service I received, in the heart of Queens. Other Yelpers here are 100% right about him. Lockbusters is the locksmith to call. Do it. You'll be as amazed and pleased as I am. read more

Due to ex-roommate concerns I needed a lock changed on short notice so turned to yelp to source who I should call. Saw the incredible ratings for Lockbusters and it was a no brainer to call them. Made an appointment for later the same day and Jay showed up and in no time assessed what needed to be done and proceeded to do it in a thoroughly competent and professional manner. But not only that, he is very friendly and personable and a joy to deal with. The price was very reasonable and I was completely satisfied with all aspects of my service. I will never use anybody else for any future needs I may have. read more

Jay is a very nice guy and super fast! He responded really quickly to my request and was able to set up an appointment with me the following day. The whole thing took only about 20 minutes. I 100% would recommend Lockbusters! read more

Jay is a lifesaver. Had an attempted break in late at night. Even after no problems for two and a half years in the city, the experience really freaked me out. After arguing with the landlord over who should be responsible for fixing the lock, I decided to take matters into my own hands. When checking out locksmiths on yelp, Jay had the best reviews so I reached out. Within the hour he was at my apartment. Not only did he install a new deadbolt - he totally overhauled our entire door. Turns out property management had done a trash job at installing the lock in the first place, which is why it was so easy to pick/bump. But it wasn't that he just told me how crappy the locks were, he literally went step by step with me showing how he was fixing everything so that I knew a) I felt more secure b) that he knew his stuff and c) that he wasn't just jerking my chain about the poorly installed locks in order to justify the cost. Really personable, knows his craft, cares a lot about you and making you feel safe. Can't say enough positive things about this man. Strongly strongly recommend. Thanks so much Jay! read more

Is it weird I almost want to get locked out again so I can call Lockbusters? Yeah, my experience was that great. After coming home at 2am (beers may or may not have been involved), I soon realized that a lock on my door that I didn't have a key for had decided it didn't like being taped down, and chose to unlock itself at that very inopportune moment. That next morning, kicking the door in with my boots, attacking it with pink screwdrivers and attempting to scale the fire escape all failed. Defeated, I looked up a lock smith on Yelp to come rescue me. Jay called me right back, told me he would be there in 20 minutes and that the flat fee for a weekend job is $70. Already $50 cheaper than other experiences I've had! He was at my apartment right on the dot and busted my door open in literally less than 2 min. I was sorta embarrassed at how easily he did it though he assured me the lock had definitely flipped. For a little extra he sorted me out with a new lock and keys in less than 3 minutes and also fixed my sticky door knob. 5 minutes TOTAL I was back in my apartment with my feet up and had also gotten to check off a niggly to-do off my apartment repair list. No muss, no fuss and an A+ experience to cap off what had been a pretty shizzy night of homelessness. I wouldn't call or recommend anyone else. Thanks, Jay! read more

Jay is the man! He helped me out of a tight bind - needing to change my locks and do it later than normal business hours, and all with a friendly, professional and effecient manner. I definitely felt like he knew his stuff, he explained the process, the options, and all for a decent price. I would highly recommend him for all your locksmith needs!!! read more

I am considering these guys' phone number for a quarterlife crisis tattoo on my forearm. The bottomline: New complete deadbolt toplock, including installation, before 5pm on a weekday - $109 flat. I got 4 installed at once, (on our & our neighbors' railroad apartments), so I got a discount - $97.50 per lock. Absolutely nothing else left my wallet. My front door frame is non-existent on one side, so it needs a different lock that takes a bit longer to install - nothing extra. Next year's annual slam-shut lockout will be the first one to cost me $69 instead of half my rent. The My-Life's-Story-As-Local-Business-Review version: I've truly dealt with the most awful locksmiths in the city. I know everyone has their horror story, but as it happens I'm actually the New Yorker who has paid the most money for a 1am slam-shut lockout in the history of schmucks ($400.) That one was the first and worst, but there's been 4 in as many years, and they've all overcharged and B.S.'d me. Of course it's expensive to be ditzy. But it shouldn't be more expensive than being a coke addict. First off, for a weekday, daytime installation Lockbusters' regular flat fee was $30 cheaper than the lowest other quote I got, which is why I chose them, + the Yelp reviews. As it turns out, the reviews are truthful. Jay was exactly on time. He told me all about high security locks when I asked, but he didn't try to scare me into getting them (which EVERY other locksmith I've had has done). He answered all my detailed questions honestly and patiently. He brought several locks so I could look and decide, and I ultimately went with the cheaper locks (because otherwise the locks would be the most valuable thing in the apartment - like false advertising for burglars. That said, they still would have been cheaper than the other quotes I had gotten for high security locks). He worked fast but didn't rush it. He immediately fixed every little thing I asked about but wouldn't have insisted on fixing (one lock wasn't entirely straight so I was fumbling a bit with it, one didn't sound entirely smooth even though it was turning just fine, etc.) He did a 5 minute drill with me locking and unlocking my new lock so I wouldn't ever leave it unlocked by mistake. (I'm not joking. And yes it took 5 minutes.) His girlfriend had come with him today ("for protection"). In addition to providing protection, tools and good conversation, she swept up all the little chards of metal from the drilling before my cat could step on them. So that, in summary, is why I'm repeating Lockbusters' number to myself until I can dial it in a coma. But you know what? Even if I do end up with another locksmith next time, I'm so empowered now since Jay educated me - instead of trying to intimidate and confuse - that I won't get completely screwed over ever again. How heartwarming isn't THAT? I could have cried when they left. read more

Don't pay any attention to any of these reviews. They are all glowing, and none of them quite captures just how amazing the service was from this locksmith. Jay is the f'ing man. I live in Long Island City, he drove to me within 30 minutes of calling at 11pm on a Wednesday night. It took him 7 minutes flat to get my bathroom door open that I stupidly locked myself out of. Polite, professional, courteous, and 10 times a more pleasant experience than visiting my family at Christmas. If you need a locksmith, call these guys!!!!! read more

I didn't know I could feel so strongly about a locksmith but I DO! After horrible phone experiences with other companies, I'm so thankful I found Jay. He was at my apartment in 10 minutes and finished with my lock in less than that. Even better - he's incredibly kind, personable and patient. He also gives $10 of every service to an animal shelter - could you ask for anything more?!? Thank you Jay - Utley and I are so grateful!!! read more

BEWARE- This is an 800 service that dispatches locksmiths, not an "honest professional" named Jay as some reviews stated (which I assume are fraudulent). The guy who showed up to my apt tried to price gauge me for $380 to open and replace a very basic lock, then $250 just to drill the lock... which I eventually opened with a credit card. 5am - Rando guy (not named Jay) showed up in an SUV marked locksmith with a different phone number than I called on the side. Guy asks a few questions and confirmed the door had shut behind me and was not a deadbolt. He then told me it was 380 to replace the lock. I was shocked and told him I didn't want the lock replaced just to get back in my apt. That would cost me $250. Very shady - no thanks. After watching a 2min vid on YouTube I was able to open the door myself using a credit card. The only positive was a locksmith showed up quickly - about 20 min. read more

Took a shot on Jay based on the great Yelp reviews and not disappointed one bit. Jay is a true professional who loves his trade. Arrived at my Greenpoint, Brooklyn home on time. I have to concur with all the other positive reviews. I inquired online with three locksmiths on a lazy sunday because I was not really in a rush. Jay not only responded in 15 minutes with an exact quote but he arrived on time for my appointment the next day and got me back into my mailbox. I still haven't heard a peep from the other two. Great, quick and professional service. read more

Jay is so professional and friendly! My experience with him and his service should be rated more than 5 stars! I've been needing a new lock for awhile now. I filled out a Contact form on his website. He emailed me the same day asking for pictures of my current lock. He suggested a few types of locks with prices and then I proceeded to schedule an appointment. He gave me a time frame (closer to 6pm, he said) of when he'd be able to arrive and his prediction was pretty accurate! Upon arrival, he explained very clearly the different types of locks and the grade of security for each. He truly wanted you to understand what you were buying and why. I trusted his suggestion and purchased the lock he recommended. He works fast! But does not do a shoddy job! I would definitely recommend him and would certainly use his services again! read more

I don't write reviews very often but feel I have to for Jay and Lockbusters. Over the weekend, my belongings (along with my keys) were stolen. I contacted Jay on Sunday and he got back to me within an hour via text. He advised what options I had along with the costs if I chose to have him make a service call on Sunday night versus Monday morning. I chose to wait until the morning given that it was less expensive. Jay text me in the morning and arrived at the time he had promised. With extremely quick, friendly and efficient service, I highly recommend Lockbusters and Jay! read more
