I dreaded finding a locksmith to install a deadbolt on my new apartment until I found Lockbusters online yesterday afternoon, with glowing Yelp reviews and a modern web presence. He completely lived up to his positive reputation, and I will recommend him to everyone I know, and keep his number in my cell phone in case I'm ever locked out at 4am. Jay was available to come to Brooklyn within hours of my call, and promptly e-mailed me a Paypal invoice for the price of the deadbolt as advertised on his website. He arrived at the scheduled time, and had the deadbolt installed within minutes. I can't recommend him highly enough, especially compared to every other shady locksmith I've encountered in the city. read more

HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, GREAT PRICES and FAAAAAAST!!!! Can not say enough nice things about Jay and his company. Called today to have a keyed doorknob installed on my bedroom door and an hour later Scott was at my Stuy Town apartment and 15 minutes later my new lock was installed. So professional and courteous, Scott really made me feel comfortable when he showed up and he was FAST! I called 5 other locksmiths who all wanted upwards of $170 to install the lock and Jay did it for $79!!!! Awesome Price, Great Staff, Amazingly Fast Service! read more

LOVE Lockbusters! Our bottom lock - that had been installed less than a year ago by another guy - had been sticking for months now and I figured we should get that fixed. Spotted a Living Social deal and snapped it up quick. Very easy to schedule, though they seem busy! When Jay arrived he was very efficient and professional. Was able to explain what was going on and what went wrong. (The previous locksmith had given us an old gnarly lock!) Replaced it, charged what was on the website, and he was off! Great to work with - we'll definitely be using him for future locksmithing! read more

Got locked out of my apartment at 6:30 pm and called my usual locksmiths who were dodgy about the price. Saw Yelp rating for nearby Lockbusters and called. Jay quoted me a reasonable standard price and was there promptly. He opened the door in no more than 3 minutes with no damage to the lock, and as a courtesy replaced both my cylinder and previously bent lower lock plate. He even gave me knew knob. All in less than 15 minutes. Mad skills and unheard of service level. Believe the hype! read more

Folks, believe me when I say there IS a difference between locksmiths. We've had horrific and expensive experiences in the past until we stumbled upon Lockbusters. I researched them online and was very impressed with what I read. They are like no other. Jay and his team are uniquely ethical, responsive and friendly. We've used Lockbusters in the past in our old co-op and were beyond satisfied with the quality of lock, workmanship and cost. Now that we've moved to a new place, we're finding our lock is temperamental, sporadically difficult to open and lock. I sent Jay photos of what I thought was a completely broken door lock. He responded that from what he can see, it's already a great lock and that all he'd have to do is change the face plate and lock knobs and will keep the cost to a minimum- below $200, which is outstanding in my book. He could've easily said the whole lock has to be replaced, but no, he is genuinely honest and ethical and that is what is important, why we'll continue to use him, and why I will recommend Jay and Lockbusters to ALL my friends and family. read more

Too expensive for a deadbolt a lock, its one thing to overcharge because NYC is in the location no, thank you. I got another locksmith and he did 2 locks for 300 . read more

Jay came to the rescue after I lost the keys to my apartment this morning. From the get-go, I appreciated the candor and clarity he showed during our initial phone conversation. He kindly broke down the potential solutions and their respective estimated costs before addressing my questions and concerns. I liked that he kept me up-to-date via text message while I waited for him to arrive. In person, he was as professional, calm, and confident as he sounded during the call. It meant a great deal to me that he made every effort to open the locks without breaking them, which would have cost me more as the cylinders would have needed replacement. Thankfully, he was able to unlock both locks in just a couple of minutes without breaking them. All in all, I recommend Jay for his promptness, competitive rate, kind demeanor, and professional approach. Keep up the terrific work you do, Jay! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Lockbusters is amazing! I was in a real jam and Jay was great. He knows what he's doing, responded quickly, and was reasonably priced. Don't waste your time calling anyone else! read more

Jay was very pleasant, on time, and got the job done in about 15 minutes! i couldn't recomend these guys enough!!! I moved in to a walkup from a doorman elevator buildling, and i needed the cylinder of my top lock changed, i opted for the high security lock (I wasn't pressure at all to spend the extra money on one of these) and i'm happy i did! Jay did a great job and even gave us a discount on it! hopefully i wont ever get locked out, but if i do, or need anything from a locksmith, i'll be sure to call Lockbusters! read more

I recently contacted Affordable Locksmiths about replacing some locks in my office. After setting a time of 3pm, Jay contacted me by text message to let me know he was nearby and was available to meet a little earlier. Right off the bat I was impressed by how professional and considerate he was of my time. Once at our office, Jay did an assessment on our locks and gave us very solid advice on the best replacement options. We set a follow up appointment for the next morning and he arrived promptly at 11am to start the job. Jay replaced 3 locks in under an hour and was kind enough to go over the keys and how each of the locks were installed for the best and safest usage. I'm very happy with the work Affordable Locksmiths performed and they are completely deserving of a 5 Star rating! read more

Friendly. Fast. Efficient. Inexpensive. Didn't catch the persons name at the end of the other line. However they were nice enough to pencil me in last minute. Was expecting them to arrive around 7pm but came around 4:30pm. Talk about quick turnaround. Within 30 minutes, everything was replaced and paid for. Thanks Scott for the install. Welcome to the team. LockBusters are a GOOOOO!!!! read more

Jay is the best! Not only was he honest about the state of my previous lock and door, he ran to Home Depot after realizing that the door needed more work and bought a whole new lock. The whole thing took about 3 hours because he had to drill new holes in the door and he had to run and put more money in the meter for his car! After he was done, my lock needed a little tweaking so he came back and few days later to fix it up. Totally perfect now. Highly recommended! read more

Jay did a great job at changing the two locks of our new place. Not only he was very reliable and responssive, he was very cordial and informative about the products. We choosed lockbusters from recomendations and great reviews on Yelp. We strongly recomend working with them, Thank you Jay. Todd and Ben read more

Everything the rest of the Yelpers say is true, which is why I called these guys. They are simply the best - reasonably priced, professional, speedy. It was 1 am on a Sunday night, my date and I were coming home from a show in Brooklyn, and my keys were sitting on my kitchen table. Oops. Called Lockbusters and Jay showed up in a half hour (I'm not joking - we hadn't even finished our beers at the dive bar on the corner.) He was professional, not creepy, and didn't make me feel stupid for locking my keys out. I live in a building with really tricky doors, and although luckily a neighbor buzzed me in downstairs, Jay was willing to try the outer doors (even though they were likely impossible.) He got my into my apartment in no time. I will never call another locksmith. read more

Ok, just adding to the mountain of good reviews here... The lock on the door to my apartment was busted. So I tried to save some pennies by posting an ad on Craig's list (a method that has worked really well for me to hire my cleaning lady and various handymen for simple jobs). Anyway, after sorting through like 50 replies to the ad, which quoted me prices varying form $100 to $300, I chose some guy who said that he installs locks in hotels for a living for $100 who of course turned out to not know what he was doing. He did put in a good effort, staying wiht the job for like 5 hours! But the door knob was basically hanging off the door the next day after using it twice. Anyway, a week later after calling a bunch of legit locksmiths who wanted $80 to even look at the lock, and who wouldn't commit to a firm price, I called Lockbusters who fixed the mess that was made for $80 in like a half hour. read more

Another 5 star review for these guys... locked ourselves out of a friend's apartment in Chelsea that we were staying at. Luckily with Yelp on my smartphone I was able to see what consistently good service these guys provide and gave them a call. Jay came along within an hour (only reason it took a while was due to the bad weather), and had us inside within 5 mins. The locks on the door seemed quite stubborn but Jay seemed quite the expert! Only sorry that I didn't have more cash on hand to give him a better tip. Polite, responsive, and professional. Thanks guys! read more

Amazing service!! I called/emailed back and forth with Jay for a while and he always answered right away. Really excellent communication. The day of service the locksmith Dean was done in less than an hour and he was super polite. Best of all, this company donates to a dog shelter! They're wonderful. I'll definitely use them again. read more

Pro. If you live in Williamsburg do not go anywhere else. Proceeds go to a dog shelter. read more

Seamless transaction. Jay came to my new home and changed my top and bottom locks the same day! He was very friendly, efficient and fairly priced. I hadn't even looked at the reviews on here or the YouTube videos showing him getting and award with the Mayor! Cool stuff and obviously well deserved. I lucked out! Thanks, Jay! read more

Smooth and painless experience, and Jay is as friendly as they come! It took less than 45 minutes for him to arrive from the time I called. Will definitely be saving this number for any future lock installation/repair needs! read more

Long story short: I was ripped off by one locksmith who left me with a hole in the door and more damage than necessary. Jay was quick to respond and was even able to arrive early the next morning to install a new lock for me. Very reasonably priced. If I ever need another locksmith, I will definitely call lockbusters. Thanks, Jay, I appreciate you! read more

Jay was super attentive and went above and beyond to get my locks fixed ASAP, even if this meant outsourcing to a locksmith closer to me in BK. It was amazing customer service and I will be sure to use Lockbusters + highly recommend in the future! Thanks again Jay! read more

Great service! Pricing was fair and their website was very helpful in helping me determine what we needed. I made sure to call around different locksmiths, even tried service magic, when we decided we needed a new cylinder for our lock. They were able to come within an hour of me calling. I definitely would recommend Lock Busters to any friend or colleague looking for a locksmith! read more

Fast, friendly, and professional. I chose Lockbusters because of their great reviews. Now I understand that these raves are well-deserved! When I called Friday to schedule an appointment for my lock to be switched out (not an emergency), the guy on the phone was absurdly nice--like, apologized-for-putting-me-on-hold nice. He offered me an appointment slot for 9:30-10 on Saturday, and then apologized that he couldn't be more specific than that! Have these guys heard of Time Warner and their four-hour windows? Scott arrived right on time at 9:45 and got to work. He explained how the lock worked, told us everything we needed to know about ordering new keys, and even tightened the doorknob (free of charge) since it was loose. From buzzing our door to swiping the credit card on his Square reader, he was here less than 30 minutes. Working with Lockbusters was absolutely painless. I highly recommend Lockbusters and would definitely call them again. read more

Jay was great! - very quick and responsive (I called him at 7:25pm while he was waiting for another client to show up and he got to my place around 8pm) - very thorough (went out again to get another piece to fit around my lock so that it actually fit in with the door) - and just did a great job all around (considering that my lock had been crazily installed previously, resulting in the lock actually poking out of the door, and actually having broken my key IN the lock) Too bad this is one of those businesses that you'd hope to never use again! (but if I were ever drunkenly locked out I'd definitely call Jay) read more

Jay is the most honest & decent locksmith I have dealt with. His work ethics are far and above what I expected. He was punctual and his prices were way lower than what I anticipated. On top of it all, he is a intelligent & a pleasure to talk to. My installation went quite smooth and I have had no issues with his workmanship. My lock works better than ever before. I highly recommend Jay!!! Who you gonna turn to? LOCKBUSTERS!!!! read more

Jay did a great job! He was able to come over and install my top lock right away and his price was reasonable. I highly recommend him!

I can't recommend Lockbusters more after meeting Jay. Such a cool guy and a total professional/locksmith wizard. I really appreciate the work you did with such short notice. I will only use Lockbusters from now on. read more

Very professional service and reasonable rates. Jay said he wouldn't be able to make it by 5pm but still charged me the cheaper day rate of $79 for picking the lock. The lock was tough but he persisted even though he could have pulled out the drill and charged me extra for the full replacement. Fortunately he was able to simply pick it and the door finally opened. I was able to pay by credit card which was convenient. I hope I don't have to ever call again, but if I ever get locked out in the future I will definitely go with these guys. read more

OMGOODNESS, every single 5-star review is true. I texted Jay the night before to try and get on his schedule by the middle of the week. He made it happen right before Christmas! He is knowledgeable, professional, kind and super skilled at lock wizardry. I sent him a picture of the lock and what we wanted to have done and he gave us a quote and timeframe. He kept me informed about timing on the day he was due to arrive. He was prompt and efficient. He also took the time to explain my options and made sure I could work the locks before he left. He only charged me what he had quoted. If it was possible to give higher than a 5-star rating, I would. He is that good! read more

Got a prompt response and estimate via yelp. Jay was able to come by a few hours later to replace two locks for me. All in all it took about an hour, the first lock being replaced in less than 15 minutes, the second, a mailbox lock, was a different type of lock than anticipated, but after a quick inspection and supply run, it was replaced with the same swiftness. The service was fast, professional, reasonably priced: everything you could ask for in during lock replacement. On top of that, Jay's friendly demeanor made the experience a pleasure. If I ever need a lock replaced in the future, I'm sure I'll contact Lockbusters again. read more

Can't imagine what else you would want from a locksmith; they were professional, prompt, competitively priced and upfront with the information. I got a deadbolt installed (went with the $189 version), they're very honest describing the differences and which one suits your need. Great service, very personable guy who came and installed the deadbolt; exactly what you want when you have somebody coming to install something in your home. read more

Oh my god, these guys are great. I've lived in NYC for 11 years and have had some horrendous experiences with locksmiths. These guys are totally professional and truly good people. It's a flat rate, Jay showed up perfectly on time and changing the lock took him 2 seconds. I'd highly highly recommend this service. If anything, it'll give you a little more faith in the world. read more

My safe malfunctioned. Jay wasn't able to open the specific model that I had but was able to find someone who could. The person that visited us (Danny) was extremely polite, caring, and capable. Really nice guys. Very professional. Jay even tried to do some no cost troubleshooting before he sent someone out. Never thought I'd ever say a locksmith was "caring." These guys deserve all of the positive feedback. read more

Boy am I glad my fiance found lockbuster on yelp. We just moved to Briarwood and need to get a new lock for our place. So we scheduled an appointment on Saturday with Jay. He shows up on time asked us to pick a lock we want and starts working on it. Everything went smoothly and he finishes within 30 mins. Right after, we went out. Come 1 o'clock in the morning we come back home and we can not open the door. Called Jay and did a quick Q&A then said he would be on his way. Come 20 mins later he's in Queens (he's from brooklyn) to work on my lock. He finally got in, and finds out that the the key frame on the door was a hack job that's why it was interfering with the lock. So he grind it down for us and tried to make as little noise as possible to be considerate to our neighbors. After a good hour of work, he finally fixed the problem and he apologized to us that this situation happened (which wasn't his fault) and just walked away! Didn't even ask for any money. That's the type of service Jay provides. It was a very good experience, Jay is extremely polite, and the prices were very reasonable too. read more

Wow, just wow. Had to update this - a couple nights after Jay fixed the cylinder lock, I had trouble getting in (turns out my door and inside lock needed to be replaced). I called Jay to see if he could assist. I was eventually able to get myself in, but Jay still insisted on coming by to see if there was any further adjustments he could make. He eventually replaced the entire inside lock with a spare (which he didnt' have to do), made some adjustments to how the lock hits my door frame and didn't charge me anything for his time in doing this. Let me stress that Jay had already fixed the cylinder lock the first time; this extra work was his awesome and generous service in full effect. I cannot remember the last time I had service this great. Lockbusters is the BEST!!!! read more

The best service experience I've had in years. Fast, friendly, knowledgeable, honest -- really, really good people. The lock on the door at our nursery school broke this afternoon. When I called, Jay was in the neighborhood by great chance and came right over. He had the parts he needed in his truck, and within the hour had fixed our busted door, explaining the repairs and what we need to do to maintain them. The best part: when I gave him his tip, he said that he'd put it towards money Lockbusters were collecting for puppies through an animal rescue service. Puppies, y'all. This is a really great business to support, especially when you're in a locksmith pinch! read more
