If you're reading this, look no further. These guys are great. Locked out of my apartment, I found Jay on Yelp. After a brief conversation on the phone, he met me at my place 20 minutes later and it took him about 8 seconds to open my door. Unable to find my keys in my apartment, he replaced the lock and gave me a new set of keys. As other reviewers have pointed out, he's very friendly and honest. I can't recommend him any higher. read more

Just had my cylinder lock for my apartment changed by Lockbuster, Joel. He was absolutely amazing and fast! Joel(not Jay, lol) was very friendly and explained everything about the lock that I currently had as well as the new lock. I will definitely be referring the business to other friends....Got the best bang for my buck AND I feel safe! whoot, whoot! read more

I got locked out of my apartment in the middle of the night with no phone or anything on me. I had a local business call a locksmith for me - unfortunately, that locksmith was not lockbusters. The guy insisted he had to drill the lock and charged me an arm and a leg to do so. He then quoted me $145 to replace the now-broken cylinder, which I declined. I searched on yelp for someone else to replace the cylinder, and that's how I found Lockbusters! I'm so glad I did. I called them the next day and they had someone out to my place within an hour. The guy who came was friendly and did the job extremely quickly and efficiently - for only $89! I'll never use another locksmith again. Thanks, Lockbusters - I just wish I had found you sooner! read more

I would NEVER use anyone else. :) Being locked out is such a horrible experience but Jay has the key to making you feel so much better: empathy, kindness, quickness and just overall being awesome and at a great price too! read more

Don't let the address fool you, Jay was at our Park Slope apartment in under two hours. Best service, very helpful and extremely nice. Call Lockbusters if you need a locksmith. read more

Jay is so totally ace. We needed a deadbolt installed from scratch on a hollow metal door and metal frame and after looking around with no luck to have someone install the thing, Jay was all "no problem" and quoted a very fair price. He banged it out in no time at all and was such a sweet guy (and a cutie) that I was a little bummed he was done so quickly. We have a dog who is kind of a pest (read: a really mouthy little pest...lol) and most strangers who come by to do work in our house find him at least mildly annoying (with good reason.) But not Jay. He was absolutely darling to him and took out his phone to show me a pic of his own super adorable furry bundle of joy. Can't recommend Jay highly enough for all your lock needs. Don't hesitate, just call him up. You'll be in very good hands. read more

In an insanely idiotic and comical fashion I locked my self out of my apartment tonight. Came home from work, threw down bag and keys on counter, turn on the oven so that it will rise to a temperature in which I can cook my dinner, decide that I can actually adult and take out my overflowing recycling while I wait for my oven to heat up. But OF COURSE I get locked outside, while on the inside my oven is steady rising to 450 degrees. And OF COURSE my landlords, who live above me, left Wednesday morning to go out of town. And OF COURSE their two young adults sons, who were left in charge of the property, are not answering their phones on a Friday night. From the time I called to the time Jay arrived was about an hour. The time it took him to get my door open was about 60 seconds. Zero damage. So fast, efficient, AND excellent service! But Jay also did not judge or through any shade on me (which I might have done if the roles were reversed!), he genuinely seemed sympathetic and understanding to my insanely idiotic situation. read more

Very professional service, highly recommend them, even if you get a slightly cheaper price elsewhere. I locked myself out of my apartment unit one day and they came in less than half an hour to pick the lock on the door. Everyone else I found on Google or Yelp sounded extremely sketchy and wanted to charge an exorbitant rate, or wouldn't even give me a quote until they come in person. Extremely grateful for these guys. Don't hesitate to call them. read more

It's almost like I wasn't locked out! Almost. He's got a really simple business model that works well: don't take advantage of people who are in a jam, just unlock their doors. And it works wonders. He has a flat rate for getting you into your lockout, and then whatever he has to replace goes on top of it. Unlike some other locksmiths who like to break, drill, massacre, whathaveyou your lock hardware just so they can upcharge you, Jay favors the path of least resistance. It's pretty elegant what he can do with his tools all the while carrying on a pleasant conversation in a walkup hallway. 5 stars up! read more

I literally have nothing bad to say about these guys. My roommate and I just moved into a new place in Bushwick and wanted to get an extra dead bolt added to our door. I filled out the form on the Lockbusters website and within 20 minutes Jay had emailed me and called me. He was really chill about working around my crazy schedule and was able to come to our place on Saturday, after I had been in touch on Thursday. When he came to our apartment he gave us the whole rundown of all of our options and was very honest and straight forward with us about what he thought we needed--he wasn't trying to sell us something we didn't need. He was at our place for about 45 minutes but most of that was because my roommate and I kept talking to him. Not only is he amazing at his job, he's super personable and charming--not exactly something you expect from your typical locksmith. To sum up, USE THESE GUYS! So glad we did. Oh, and the previous reviews were right--Jay is kind of a babe... read more

Nobody's perfect, but the key is to acknowledge mistakes and do something to make it right. There was a mix-up in the day of my appointment for a new lock, so Jay came that evening instead of the morning and gave me 50% off. He also told me the lock mechanism itself was perfectly solid and that rather than an extra lock, I only needed a new cylinder for security. That goes to show how honest he is because it meant it was cheaper for me and less money in his pockets. To add to all that, Jay is a super nice guy and was even great with my barky dog. In fact, when I asked if he accepted tips, he told me he donates them to Animal Haven. Awesome! You've really got to be good to mix-up the appointment and yet still get 5 stars. Lockbusters is that good! Completely worth it, and I'm guessing that the mix-up was an exception to the rule. Now I've got a fancy pick-resistant lock, more sense of security, and one of the most pleasant experiences with a NYC company ever. I can imagine in a lockout situation they would also add a sense of relief to a highly stressful situation. Highly, highly recommended! read more

Great service and courteous! I really appreciated their professionalism! I thank you very much!

I love giving money to businesses and people who i want to see succeed. I work about an hour outside of the city and my wife was locked out of our apartment. I figured calling a locksmith for a reasonable sum might be more efficient and time saving than me coming all the way. I called a few locksmith's people had recommended to me, and I got the same annoying answer... or non-answer I should say. I asked all of them how much it would approximately cost. Most said something to the effect that it was impossible to give an exact quote until they saw what they would be dealing with. I then snickered and said, "yeah I get it... how about just an approximately so I can tell my wife how much money she needs to have on hand..." Again, they refused. So I decided to look up "locksmith" on yelp (probably the same way some of you have just done) and I see this guy with over 100 ratings with a 5 star average. There aren't many businesses I can think of that can say that. Everyone's description was spot on. When I asked him for a quote, he gives me his flat quote of $70 and thats it. No more no less. He said he was finishing up a job and that he would meet my wife in 40 minutes. Well its now 30 minutes from that time and my wife is officially now in the apartment. She said he couldn't have been nicer. Give this man business! An honest locksmith... why wouldn't that be a great business model?!?!?! read more

Excellent service, honest quote and reasonable prices for Manhattan. Highly Recommend!

I second everyone here. Lockbusters is the B.E.S.T. I almost went with some scumbag service that had an ad saying "$15 NY Area Locksmith," but I smelled and rat and when I got them on the phone they said, "well that's for the visit, then we tell you how much it's going to take to open your door when we see the lock." Excuse me, but FTW?!? Thank goodness I hung up (rather aggressively, thank you very much) then looked on Yelp and found Lockbusters. I called, he answered very politely, said he was helping someone else out but would be here in 30 minutes, and I kid you not the guy was here in 25. This never happens in New York. Great guy, very reasonable, fixed price...if I could give it 6 stars I would. read more

After calling a dozen different locksmiths in NYC, I was giving up hope that I would find a place that would install a lock at a reasonable price. Enter Lockbusters. I found this place on Yelp and boy is there a reason for all those 5 star reviews. From the second I was on the phone with Jay I had nothing but a great experience. Jay was supremely friendly and answered all my questions with nothing but the utmost patience. Best part? He was able to come to my apartment the same day and only gave me an hour's timeframe (unlike every other company in NY that tells you you have to wait around all day only to never show up). Jay arrived at the top of that hour's timeframe and did the job in less than 10 minutes, even offering to sweep up after the job was done. He was very professional and so nice that I have no doubt I'll only call Lockbusters if I ever need help with a lockout or any other lock related problem! read more

Jay is very punctual and friendly. The service is highly professional and efficient. He responses to your inquiry quickly, explains you the features of different locks and brands along with a quote. Then he comes on time. The installation process is smooth. Also, Jay is a scrupulous and cool guy. read more

Jay's response for a price quote was prompt and reasonable. Jay went above and beyond. Parking is extremely challenging in my neighborhood. Due to this issue Jay kindly offered to reschedule and return the next morning. I'm completely pleased with my LockBusters experience. Jay went above and beyond to ensure that the appointment was completed in a competent, courteous, expeditious manner!! I would highly recommend LockBusters!!! read more

Service definitely lived up to all the glowing Yelp reviews! We needed to install a deadbolt in our new apartment. Jay was very friendly, came on time, laid out our options and made recommendations, but was not at all pushy and did not haggle the price, unlike other sketchy locksmiths I've had before. Highly recommended, do it! read more

The day before I left for vacation, my key broke in the bottom lock (of course it did!) and my building sent their person to fix it. Two hours later, I was left with a door that could not lock (thank goodness I had a top lock...geez). On top of that, my daughter would get stuck in the door because the key would not open the door. It was a mess!! After a few days of yelp-searching, I came across Lockbusters. This was one of the best searches I found on Yelp. I called Jay and explained my issue. He asked for pictures to see what was going on. As soon as I sent the pictures, he responded within a decent timeframe with a resolution and a quote. I made an appointment that same moment. Jay was so professional, funny, and knew exactly what he was doing. He wasted no time fixing the lock and was in and out in less than 20 minutes. I would highly recommend him to others!!!! Thanks Jay!! read more

Lockbusters were fast, efficient and their price is reasonable. Not sure who I had on the phone, but he was very nice and understood my problem in 5 seconds. Highly recommended! read more

This place is hands down the best locksmith out there! When the front door lock to my business totally broke, my business partner immediately said, "We're not going to use those people who leave a million business cards in our door all the time." Those people are super annoying and don't deserve our business! So we went to Yelp and found Lockbusters with all of their good reviews, submitted our inquiry through the website and got a call shortly after. We scheduled an appointment for the next day, and Jay came by to check things out. He was very honest and very helpful, and while we expected it would be hundreds of dollars (to revamp our entire lock and door system) it was only $175. We were thrilled! Then Scott came by the next day to finish everything up, he was very respectful of customers who were going in and out, and really worked fast. We are so happy with our new lock - we'd recommend them to any business! (Or residence, or whatever lock you need fixed.) They're the best! read more

There are so many locksmiths in NYC that finding someone reliable, GOOD, and friendly is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Jay came out same day for a non-emergency install of a more secure front door lock and I couldn't be happier. He requested photos so he could make an assessment of what was needed, what was possible, and what it might cost. Having used different locksmiths in the past over my 8 year NYC renting history, I can say that in addition to quality work done, LockBusters' prices are competitive and fair. Reading the Yelp reviews is what convinced me to go ahead with LockBusters- believe the hype! read more

What a wonderful experience. I needed to change my mother's locks while visiting her. Jay quickly responded to my quote request with a competitive quote. His co-worker Dean arrived to change my locks. He was friendly, courteous, flexible and did a fabulous job. I couldn't be happier. The best part is that they donate $10 of every job to an animal shelter AND they recycled my old locks. It doesn't get better than that if you love animals and care about the environment. In a nutshell, you get excellent service at a competitive price while using a company that is making our world better and taking care of the environment. read more

Cannot day enough good things about my experience with Jay! He was very quick to respond to my inquiry, highly communicative, professional, courteous, and got me into my apartment in under 10 minutes. As if that weren't enough, they donate all tips to local animal shelters! This is absolutely the kind of local business we should all support. read more

We had the best experience with Jay for our quick lock change. Initial quote and communication were seamless, and his colleague was punctual and polite. The easiest process ever. Plus 10% goes to rescue charity- hire them now! read more

I got locked out and called Lockbusters tonight. Took them a bit longer to arrive than expected, but they more than made up for it with some of the best customer service I've ever had in NYC. Guys were very friendly on the phone and in person. Scott did battle with an incredibly stubborn lock that would not give, and even made things harder for himself by not drilling out the protective plate. He could have easily have just insisted on drilling it out to make things simpler, but he worked around it. Then he took just as much time to make sure the new lock worked perfectly, even breaking out a small metal file to trim off a bit on the strike plate at one point. Through all the frustrations he was upbeat and friendly. I would have been throwing things and cussing up a storm. Definitely give these guys a try. I can't imagine you'll be disappointed. read more

Jay is a trustworthy and reliable individual who responded to my request quickly and go the job done in less than 30 minutes! I needed a top lock put on my apartment door and had been quoted that it would take hours and be very costly. Jay provided his honest opinion for which lock would be best given my budget and need for security. We set up an appointment and he was very diligent in installation, explanation, and clean up. I absolutely recommend Lockbusters! read more

Great experience from start to finish. Quick communication over email, arrived on time, great price, wasted no time and he came all the way out to Brooklyn! Service was completed in under 10 minutes. Several payment options were available which was great because who carries cash anymore!? He also took time to explain the issue with the lock in the door and emailed me a picture for evidence to show to the landlord. Couldn't have asked for a better locksmith experience. read more

Great service. Would recommend their service to anyone. Couple reason 1) They waive off the late night fee because they were close to our location. 2) The lock wasn't actually damage but the door handle mechanism which was more than double of what I had anticipated or wanted to pay for a rental apt. Instead of charging for the higher service they recommended a cheaper but secure alternative. 3) Credit card accepted! read more

I needed my locks changed and after seeing all the positive reviews on Yelp I called Lockbusters and I am so happy I did. Jay was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Even just talking with him while he worked was a pleasure. He charged fair (cheap?) prices and was completely upfront about everything and did not try to oversell me. He showed up on time (actually came early and waited till I was ready) and worked quickly. Turns out he comes from a family of locksmiths and this business is him and his brothers setting out on their own to serve the downtown community after working for years with their father uptown. I would absolutely use Lockbusters again and wholeheartedly encourage others to do so as well. read more

Locked out of my flat this last Saturday night at 10:45. Lockbusters's answering service was friendly and patient with me despite my anxious behaviour. Jay called me back in the stated 15-20 minute period. He was friendly and courteous and arrived at my apartment exactly when he said he would. I was pleasantly surprised by his punctuality. He had me back in my flat within 10 minutes of his arrival (actual work 5-7 minutes). I like that the cost of services are stated upfront and are very reasonable. I also appreciate that they actually do operate 24-hours a day unlike two other services I called who hung up on me saying that they were closed - despite the contradictory claims on stickers plastered all over my building's locks and doors. Additional bonus for me: Paying a proper professional was cheaper than having to bribe my wretched off-site super to come down to the building and let me in. I definitely recommend their services. read more

Jay is great, very knowledgeable and helpful. He came when we said he would, prices were a little higher but you get what you pay for. All in all a great find, and who can ask for anything more! I recommend them highly. read more

I literally have their number saved in my phone because they saved my life twice already and I'm a disaster with keys, so I know that I'll be needing them again. Each time I got someone within 20 minutes of my call and they were super nice, trustworthy, and helpful. Very fair prices and I felt so taken care of. They turned these very stressful situations around for me :) read more

Jay is the NICEST GUY and is extremely skilled at his job. He installed my deadbolt over a year ago and last night my roommate and I all of the sudden could not get our key to work in it. Somehow, Jay was free the next night (tonight!!) to come and help fix the door. Turns out it was a tiny bit of plastic from a grocery bag that I had lodged into the lock with my key one night when I wasn't paying attention (too many things going on at once, typical). It was amazing to see something that small could ruin the lock like that. Jay removed it swiftly and was extremely kind throughout the process. Thank you Jay!!! Would recommend to everyone!! read more

Great service! Jay was really nice and installed my new deadbolt in no time flat. He also had to let me into my apartment when he arrived since I accidentally locked myself out while going to meet him at the entrance to my building (oops!). My only criticism is that he didn't call or text before arriving like he said he would. Luckily, I had planned to hang around home all day just in case, but timeframe would've been nice to have. Will definitely use Lockbusters in the future, though! read more

Holy crap these guys are awesome. Jay was fast, courteous, professional, and did an amazing job. On top of that he's an awesome guy and we had a great conversation. He made everything from the scheduling to the actual lock work a breeze. Maybe this is weird but I also sorta want to hang out with him? Anyway I can't recommend enough. read more

Accidentally locked myself out of my apartment while both my roommates were out of town. The super wasn't picking up and I didn't know what else to do. Found lockbusters on yelp and decided to give it a shot. Best decision of the night. Not only were they super friendly, but they were also able to help me get my door open. Isaac is the best. Highly recommend this company -- they're honest and it feels like they're genuinely looking out for you. read more

They're the best! Very honest, reliable and nice people! Prices extremely reasonable. I called them this morning to open three locks. They set up an appointment for this afternoon and told me their prices over the phone. When they came over, they took care of the three locks (it took them 20-25 minutes to open three locks and replace one of them). Prices were the ones showed on Yelp, $ 59 for each lock ( $ 99 if two locks belong to the same door) and $ 79 to replace the lock. I'm so happy with their service! Now I'm not anymore terrified about losing my keys! read more

I needed an older top lock rekeyed and a backdoor deadbolt installed in my new apartment. After receiving exorbitant quotes from three other companies, Lockbusters (Jay) gave me fully transparent, honest quotes for multiple options. He didn't try to up-sell me on just installing all new locks, he retrofitted my existing lock and it operates even smoother than before! He was also just a really nice guy! Very professional, and very knowledgeable of his craft. I wish I could give more stars. read more
