Brisket sandwich and maple brussels sprouts.
    Amy W.

I don't like to give bad reviews in general - and especially not during Covid with every restaurant trying to survive, but if I am going to be overall nicer, then restaurants have to at least TRY and do better. This review would normally be a 2 for me, and look at my reviews, I RARELY give a 2 - only 8% of the time. We saw this place on the way to Downtown Calistoga. I looked it up and it was obviously new (based on #'s of reviews). We did our errand at our winery and decided to come back for lunch on a Saturday around 1pm (Note there was no line an hour prior indicating they would be out of nearly everything). We had done our research, looking at the menu and had settled on the Saturday special of pork, some wings, the brussels sprouts and maybe some pork belly. Got there at 1:05. There was no line, not a lot of activity. There was a sign just outside the door advertising the Brussels sprouts. Young pretty girl at the counter, and a busy guy making burgers in the kitchen behind her. I start to order, but they were out of the wings, out of the pork, out of the pork belly. Now, I am 99% certain they did not sell out, they never had it on offer that day - so 1st of all, be honest, and offer some excuse, like "we are new and just getting our bearings". THEN ALSO have some kind of notification, other than the poor girl who has to give the news to everyone who tries to order (Note to owner: Get a chalkboard sign with things crossed out, or even put a paper sign on the counter that lists things you are out of. (Again - do better at communication to your customers at the very least, or it will only lead to disappointed experiences & reviews like this one.) Out of wings, out of pork, out of pork belly, I was so annoyed I don't recall if they were out of anything else. I had to ask the gal what they DID have: burgers, tri tip and brisket. roughly 50% of their menu offerings. We ended up ordering a brisket sandwich, some coleslaw and some brussels sprouts. The brisket was good, a little fatty, and there could have been more meat on the sandwich (maybe they were afraid of running out of another thing??). The coleslaw was nothing special, the brussels were good, if a bit greasy. We ate in the parking lot, at the tables provided - which I would NOT recommend, due to the flys/bugs landing on you and your food. Eat inside, or in your car.

The food was great. Friendly service. Just a basic burger/bbq joint. Only thing that I didn't like was I counted eight flies buzzing around.

Great service, delicious food! The pork belly bites were the winner for me, but my wife liked her brisket more. Nothing bad in this picture! Tender falls off the bone with a little tug, but not so cooked that it's just a slop of meat. Delicious sauce. Great job team.

Tater tots with lots of garlic and parsley - served with ranch dressing. YUM!

We were staying in Calistoga for a wedding party and decided to soothe our hangover with some BBQ - this place had great reviews - not a lot of reviews yet since it seemed on the new side comparatively, but GREAT reviews. It's super casual - they do have some outdoor seating in the form of umbrella covered casual tables but it was way too hot to consider that. Looking at the menu, everything sounded great. We didn't want to go for the sandwiches since we wanted to avoid gluten today - makes the hubby super sleepy. We asked if they had any kind of combo so that we could try the different BBQ items they were offering. And yes indeed they do - 1/2 or 1 lb. We opted for the 1/2 lb thinking that sounded like a great amount for us. Comes with a side so we chose the garlic tater tots. YUM. She offered us 2 kinds of BBQ sauce - regular and spicy and ranch dressing for the tots. I definitely recommend the spicy BBQ sauce - it's not too spicy - very easy to handle spice level wise. The mild one is very sweet which is good too, but I definitely like the unique flavor of the spicy version. So the food came - and it was a metal TRAY of BBQ. And it was a 1/2 lb. of each item! It was SO much food. But thankfully we were in an AirBnB so we were able to take the leftovers home, throw it in the freezer and drive back with it. I think my favorite of the different meats might have been the brisket - it's very tender and flavorful. But I definitely plan on using everything - last night we took the pulled pork and some of the brisket and put it in a marinara sauce and had it over some gluten free spaghetti. I think we have another 4 meals that we can pull out of this sampling of BBQ! Definitely go check it out. The tater tots were so good - they did not make it to the leftovers.

While perusing the local businesses, we discovered Lincoln Avenue Brewery tucked in a small alley. A bartender by the name of Liza warmly greeted us as we took a seat at the bar. Since we were not terribly hungry at the moment, we ordered the Pork Belly from the appetizer menu. While enjoying the delicious Pork Belly bites, we placed an order for their non-beer options (neither one of us are beer lovers). We ordered the Dust Bowl Brewery Strawberry Margarita seltzer, which is ironically a brewery that is located in close proximity to our home. As we were winding down, we ordered a round of ciders and the three meats-three sides platter for dinner. Our dinner reheated well in our room (we decided to order it as takeout to avoid eating such a messy meal in public) and was quite tasty - even though the macaroni and cheese could have used some seasoning. If you're looking for exceptional customer service, a healthy variety of brews, and delicious food - I recommend visiting Lincoln Avenue Brewery!

Nice space friendly staff, good fresh beer and inside and outside (covered) seating. Your order at the bar and they bring the food to you. My friend lamented that they no longer used Haddock but at those prices I can see why they had to change; the local fried cod was very good.

Staff very friendly, our server was Archie and he was great and helpful. We ordered a few the Ribeye steak with scalloped potatoes and asparagus. For dessert we got the mixed berry crisp and the peanut butter pie to go. They were both delicious! Specially that peanut butter pie is a must.

BIRTHDAY LUNCH AFTER WINE TASTING…read more One week ago last Saturday my sister, her husband, and my relatives took me out for wine tasting. After the first winery we came to Calistoga Inn for lunch before going to the second winery. My sister stated we had four hours before dinner therefore we could not have a heavy lunch. Our server recommended three items he enjoyed eating: French dip sandwich, Reuben sandwich, or fungi pizza. I looked at the pictures of the French dip and Reuben from Calistoga Inn. After seeing those pictures I decided not to get the French dip or Reuben but the fungi. The size of the pizza is pretty big for one person to eat. The crust isn't thick. Even though the crust is thin there is crunch when you take bite. I can say portions weren't skimpy as the mushrooms covered most of the entire pizza. Since dinner was approaching, I didn't finish the whole pizza. Looking back I probably ordered the wrong dish. As I drank more than 8 glasses of wine from the first winery I should have ordered food that would've absorbed the alcohol better - maybe a dish with meat like carne pizza. I also should've trusted my instinct by ordering the Calistoga Burger because I'm a firm believer a dish with a name of the restaurant could be its specialty. Overall I had a nice lunch at Calistoga Inn in between the two wineries and before dinner.

The entire restaurant is unorganized and an unwelcoming place to visit. Not a great option for the price. Will not go back. UPDATE for Angela, To clarify: when we arrived, no one acknowledged or seated us, so we walked through the restaurant ourselves to find someone and ask where we should sit. By "nowhere to sit," I meant there was no direction or organization regarding seating. Our food was brought out on serving trays/boards, but we were not provided plates, utensils, or napkins for our family, including our children. We ended up eating with our hands because no one checked back with us aside from removing seasoning shakers from another table to place on ours. The experience felt unorganized and unwelcoming because we consistently felt overlooked throughout the visit despite being polite and patient the entire time. I understand small businesses rely on reviews, which is why I only described our experience honestly rather than exaggerating it. I have also sent you an email to shed more light on our experience during our visit.
