Broke Chick Tam
Jerell M.

Looking at Local Kitchens for a nice bite, I was intrigued by Chef Tue Nguyen's menu with the broken rice. The ordering process on the website was very easy (although the doordash page increases the price of each entree by $2-$3 per, so buyer beware). Easy pick-up, although it took some time before a staffer knew I was at the waiting window. Empty place on a Thursday evening, so a great place for anyone wanting to socialize and where the group has different tastes. The Broke Chick Tam was fantastic and is one of the best things to come out of Local Kitchen besides the Square Guys. Great flavor, and I loved the variety of pickled vegetable offerings. I am ready to go back and get another one.

This place must be hopping for lunch! It's just a great concept: a pick-up counter and a few barebones tables for dine-in at what is primarily a ghost kitchen for various online restaurants. Three of us went for quick, inexpensive, no-frills dinner that was healthier than burgers. We had various Mediterranean salads as entrees after two appetizers for the table. Local Kitchens checked all the boxes for us: healthy options, quick, inexpensive, and dine-in

This is a unique spot for "ghost kitchen". The dining area is clean and well designed. I like the idea of just ordering from various food choices. They had from Mexican to Vietnamese to burgers to sushi to boba and ice coffee. I like the variety. Unfortunately I don't think this place is price friendly. This restaurant is across the street from YouTube HQ and a couple of corporate companies. So I see some customers with their employee badge. The service was great, even though there is no human cashier, you basically order on a kiosk. The employees are checking around into the dining area if we needed anything else and offering above and beyond service. This was on a Tuesday Night! Truly will come back if I want a treat but not so often because of the prices. By the way there is so many customers the board of waiting for your order is full!

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO KELLIE, customer service representative who went above and beyond. So often I write about horrible customer service and food where I and my friend sand coworkers never return because restaurants simply don't care. Kellie reached out to me about my SOB truffle burger. At $15 with no fries and drink it's expensive in these times. The burger tasted like it had been sitting for an hour on a tray. Cold inside, barely warm outside and no truffle flavor. You know how much I enjoy Boba Guys matcha lattes, but with all that ice for $14 for 2 drinks, like what?!? The Vietnamese coffee was quite good and great addition to their menu. Also too much ice, but very tasty not too sweet or bitter. So at like 11am there was no water in their pitcher and the woman behind the counter who I told about the water refilled it but she was very dismissive and at first she didn't understand me so I had to say "agua" with what little Spanish I knew. Also, when I picked up my food she took back my burger and I had to ask for it back LOL. There were only like 4 other orders, so it wasn't busy. Very strange. Anyways 5 stars for Kellie who is amazing. Wish everyone was as amazing as her at LK.

Geisha's Kiss
Rich H.

Forgot to post this review from a few months ago. I had no idea how decent this spot was. I've seen it so many time whenever I go to my gym, but did not give it a thought. My loss. I had a "sushirrito". I always thought they were weird. As it turns out, it's just a thick sushi roll with some burrito-like ingredients. I had the Geisha's Kiss and it was like being kissed by a Geisha. I was smitten. Everything was very fresh and the house chips gave it a nice little crunch. I love sushi and this place does a nice job. It might be my Go-To order from LK. Okay, time for the pic.

Fried Chicken Sandwich

Stopped by for a quick bite while in the area and ended up staying a couple of hours to get some work done. It was quiet on a Monday afternoon. The food came out quickly and the kind staff brought it to my table and later came back to take away my tray. I later ordered a drink and the service was still top notch. Boba Guys quality seems to be the same as the standalone stores. And Proposition Chicken sandwich was okay. Nice and crispy but not my preferred fried chicken sandwich.

Local Kitchens is a local bay area ghost kitchen chain! The concept has been novel since the pandemic, and while I like the idea, it's rough when you know the food tastes better from the original source. Also, I think the concept of ghost kitchens should in theory mean better pricing, but it's kind of expensive. Boba Guys serves a basic menu of their popular drinks. Since they're not a boba shop, the boba isn't freshly cycled, so I don't like adding toppings from here. The Thai tea is probably the best to get as it's the strongest flavored, but I'd generally prefer getting drinks elsewhere. At Proposition Chicken, the spicy sandwich was enjoyable and tasted like Popeyes with a good bun, prominent pickles, and tongue spice. The chicken patty was ok - it was meaty, oddly-shaped, and can stand to have more crunch. The fried chicken tenders are ok - they are composed of large pieces of breast meat, and I found the coating to be odd, like fish and chips coating. The prop spiced fries are solid and subtle, and the green goddess dressing is good and herby. From Nopalito Taqueria, the quesabirria dipping tacos were quite cheesy and crisp, almost as if the shell was pure cheese. They came with a lot of raw onions, and were packed with braised birria beef. The consomme and salsa were strong and tasty! Square Pie Guys is included in all of our orders from Local Kitchens. Their pizza is good but expensive. It's worth it to grab Square Pie Guys during the big box deal on Mondays (buy one, get a second for $12.05). The 6x8 is our favorite, as it's a thick cornmeal like crust covered with stretchy cheese and tons of delicious pepperoni (pepperoni in every bite!). The Big Von disappointed me because they could have been more generous with the toppings, the white sauce wasn't too flavorful, and the Mike's hot honey made it too sweet. The cookies from Milk Bar are too sweet and very soft. They're so soft, that it almost tastes like it disintegrates into sugar granules when you eat them. I haven't tried all of their offerings yet, and some cycle out once in a while. Most brands can be seen around the bay, and if not, it's usually interesting offerings from a celebrity chef or something, which brings me to my next point... I received an invite to attend the launch party of Tam Tam Rice from chef Tue Nguyen (@TwayDaBae) at this location and had a fun time meeting Tue and tasting her food! I even won Tue's cookbook and got her autograph. She definitely made me want to head down to her restaurant, Di Di, in West Hollywood. If Local Kitchens made this location a hub for more events like this, I think that'd be really fun and would draw in more customers. While I now live closer to a different location, I've enjoyed this location for their spacious and brighter seating area, ample parking, kind staff, and the delicious self-serve water!

"Tấm Tấm Rice" by TwayDaBae - The Rich Pork Belly Broken Rice Plate | $16 + $2 egg (3 stars)
Cherylynn N.

**** Tấm Tấm Rice Review **** 3.5 STARS Can't get to ĐiĐi in WeHo? Local Kitchens it is! Local Kitchens is a micro food hall that brings SF restaurant brands to the burbs. Been following Chef Tuệ (aka TwayDaBae) since she started posting YT Viet cooking videos prior to the pandemic. Happy to see her blow up as a TikTok chef with her own line of fish sauce, a cookbook, and new resto: ĐiĐi in WeHo. In February 2025, she launched a collab with Local Kitchens so those in the Bay can get a taste of her food. Her concept, Tấm Tấm Rice serves Viet broken rice plates. Placed an online order on Local Kitchens on our way there and was quoted 20-30 minutes. Arrived in 10 minutes and got a text that our order was ready, perfect timing! F O O D * The Broke Chick Tấm: Charbroiled chicken, fragrant broken rice, Vietnamese pork & egg quiche, pickled mustard greens, pickled daikon & carrots, persian cucumbers, tomato salad, scallion oil, crispy onions, cilantro, and sweet fish sauce ($14): https://tinyurl.com/36uxjt3y - Add fried egg ($2) * The Rich Pork Belly Tấm: Braised pork belly, fragrant broken rice, Vietnamese pork & egg quiche, pickled mustard greens, pickled daikon & carrots, persian cucumbers, tomato salad, scallion oil, crispy onions, cilantro, and sweet fish sauce ($16): https://tinyurl.com/ytc2pxxz - Add fried egg ($2) Both cơm tấm were visually appealing with vibrant colors but underwhelming in taste and unbalanced flavors. The best parts: the nutty, broken rice grains, runny egg yolk, and savory chả trứng (pork & egg "quiche" w/ wood ear mushrooms, and cellophane noodles). Between the two proteins, the chicken thigh meat was better but dry and tepid (obvs cooked ahead of time). The pork belly were like thin, soft bacon strips. While warm, it was quite burnt and hella salty with a strong oyster sauce flavor. I like that they included a myriad of veggies and pickled veggies for freshness and acid but the đồ chua (pickled daikon + carrots) was very sour and the pickled mustard greens was very bitter. Not sure if they used Chef Tuệ's own line of fish sauce but the nước chấm tasted like sweet water with no funk. Glad we added a side of sambal ($1) for heat. Overall, in my experience with Local Kitchens, you don't often get the same results as the actual brick and mortar restos because IMO, it's hard for staff to master 8-10 different resto brands and menus. I believe Tấm Tấm Rice is the only place to get broken rice in the Peninsula tho so it's worth a try to see if you have a better experience. Rounding up to 4 stars for the facilities, clean restrooms, complimentary self-serve water, dog-friendly patio, and plentiful free parking!

This is a great concept. A mini food court contained in a communal kitchen. After I saw this on a foodie segment I bookmarked it. I especially wanted to try the Tam Tam Vietnamese offering. Hubby & I dropped in last Friday afternoon. There are self operated kiosks where you select the local kitchen you're interested in; then select what you're interested in ordering. Pay with credit card. Provide your name and mobile #. There's a screen with your name and ETA. Projected time 15-20 minutes. Ordered to go - * Spicy pork belly broken rice bowl * Lemon grass chicken rice plate * Pork belly rice plate Our order was ready within the estimated time. Prepared hot which we didn't eat for several more hours. Portion sizes on the small side but tasty & satisfying.

This place is very spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. They keep the bathrooms SO clean and it smells nice in there. The food was 100/10.... ALL OF IT. I can't wait to go back and I'm already thinking about my next order lol. The meat on the chicken adobada taco was seasoned perfectly and the meat was so juicy. The staff was friendly and brought my food to the table. They work quickly and get your order just right. Definitely a must try spot.

Happened on LOCAL KITCHENS SAN BRUNO located at the Bayhill Shopping Center for their introducing Koi Palace to its offerings of food vendors. In conjunction with Boba Guys, LKSB sponsored a limited giveaway of Koi Palace baos and Boba Guy milk tea boba today, January 11, 2025. LKSB is a clean, modern, little spot with limited menus for a quick meal or snack. A collection of food vendors gathered under a Local Kitchens locale, some well known, some seemingly ready to be discovered and savored. You can order via their app or go in to LK and order on their kiosks. Seating available, though limited and arranged like a fast food eatery. Most orders is take away. Hours: Sunday-Wednesday 10:30AM-10PM Thursday-Saturday 10:30AM-Midnight Current food vendors: BOBA GUYS KOI PALACE SQUARE PIE GUYS SWEET ONION BURGER PROPOSITION CHICKEN NOPALITO TAQUERIA SUSHIRRITO YALLA FALAFEL FLAVOR TRIPPIN' HUMPHRY SLOCOMBE MILK BAR Nice variety of food vendors to satisfy a quick craving without traveling far. I've got my eye on the VIETNAMESE ICE CREAM from HUMPHRY SLOCOMBE, MUSHROOM PIE from SQUARE PIE GUYS, anything from NOPALITO TAQUERIA, LAVA BAOS from KOI PALACE, and any boba from BOBA GUYS!

It's always a good experience when I come here. When you first walk in, there are a few kiosks to order at. I love that there's a huge selection of food at local kitchen. When you're done ordering, there is a screen with your name to show you where you order is at. I love that you can see how long the wait would be. Overall, the food and service were great!
