Yesterday, we were in the area at 11:30, before the lunch rush officially begins. We parked practically in front at the curb and walked to the front door. Inside were about 10 customers, some waiting to pay, some watching their sandwiches being made and others waiting to order. We weren't quite exactly where to stand so we wormed our way to what we thought might be the end of the line. Probably not necessary. There were three sandwich makers and they simply called "next" when they were ready for the next guest. The first question we were asked was how many sandwiches followed by what breads. We're both fans of Dutch Crunch so that made it easy. Then we were asked what sandwich was first. With everything? What kind of cheese? Any add-ons? Then the second sandwich, same questions. The process was impressive. Our sandwich maker knew his craft and made us two wonderful sandwiches. She ordered the Fire Roasted Steak with everything. I ordered the Lucca's Ultimate Club without the Hot Pepper Sauce (mistake!). We got back to our van and the hot Steak smelled so good, we split it right then and completely devoured it! The Hot Pepper Sauce was not super spicy and the entire sandwich was huge and delicious. This morning, we split the Lucca's Ultimate. We each managed to put away about 1/2 of our 1/2 and then had to put them away. Not to worry, we finished them at dinner. I think because I had omitted the Hot Pepper Sauce, this sandwich wasn't quite as moist. I would have liked more lettuce, tomato and possibly some avocado. That's a note to myself for next time.
