After a week on vacation, I was craving Asian food so I stopped here to pick up some takeout for lunch. I called ahead of time. And food was ready in 15 minutes for pickup. I got the house special stir fried noodles (chow mein) and the baked pork chop rice. When I arrived to pay, they had to confirm a few times that they gave me the hard noodles, not the soft ones. Also my rice dish came with a complementary drink. Their default is milk tea but I asked for lemon iced tea, which they obliged with no issue. Raced home and devoured the food. I would say it hit the spot, even though it was not the best pan fried noodles and baked rice dishes I'd ever had. They were pretty solid though. They boxed up the sauce and protein/veggies in a separate container than the crispy noodles. It had a lot of chicken, shrimp, squid and veggies. It was a darker sauce, maybe soy based, so different than what I'm used to. The baked pork chop rice was fine too. Needs more of the red sauce. The rice could've been a little more fried but it has bits of egg in it. I also would've liked some more veggies in the sauce. The pork chop was tender and boneless, which I approve up. Harder to eat it it's bone-in pork. With tax and tip, it was about $40, which I guess is the going rate for two good entrées nowadays. Look over your check before paying and your food if you're getting takeout. There is sometimes a bit of confusion, especially if you changed your order or they ran out of something. Drinks and/or rice only come with certain orders, so there may be additional charges for those. Great Hong Kong-style Chinese local eatery for when you need a quiet, late-night meal or takeout that isn't a bar or alcoholic place of some kind. It's a bit tucked away, but that's kind of exactly what we're looking for when we just get off a late flight. ESPECIALLY if it means we're coming down from the SF airport. However, a lot of people kind of have the same idea, so it's actually pretty busy in the later hours of the evening. And since it's located in the Homestead Bowling Plaza, there are plenty of spaces. You have a lot of people lingering around here and in the Tea Era thanks to their super late closing hours. If this location doesn't work for you, they also have a Fremont location. For those not as familiar with Chinese food, Hong Kong cuisine is a mix of Cantonese cooking and a lot of western influences. So it includes things like macaroni, spaghetti, spaghetti bolognese, chicken steak, etc. It's basically a lot of café dishes, complete with a big menu of coffees and teas and I've found it's a good place to bring hesitant, picky people when introducing them to Chinese food. Side note, Portuguese-style sauce is a coconut milk sauce flavored with curry. A lot of people come here for the Hong Kong-styled baked dishes, though I very much prefer their sizzling platters. Would recommend getting their Hong Kong-style milk tea, though the default of that is hot. If you want any cold drinks, that is an additional $1 to put in ice. Remember that drinks and/or rice come with certain meals but not all of them, so you may actually be ordering them as additions that will be charged separately. If you want to get takeout, go to their website and order through there. Both in-restaurant and online menus have Chinese and English translations and some corresponding pictures. TLDR; this is a real local eatery where you have to explore the menu to find "your" (comfort) dish aka the one you'll then keep coming back for. For example, my mom will usually order the Baked Pork Chop or Chicken with Portuguese Style Sauce nearly every time, dad likes anything with the mushroom cream sauce. Finally got a chance to try this place, we came here Saturday at about 1230, it wasn't super packed, like 2/3 full, I guess because ppl all went to the restaurant right next door lol. I ordered 4 dishes: braised beef stew & tofu sheet with zhuhou sauce clay pot, house special fried rice, beef chow fun, Peking pork chop, the fried rice and the beef chow fun were both as delicious as expected, I would skip the braised beef stew because they gave way too many vege but only very few small pieces of beef stew, and the tofu sheet was super hard, the Peking pork chop was small portion, only a few pieces, and 1/3 of it was just bone. Another thing is when I looked at the pictures from other people the dishes all seemed pretty oily, so when I ordered I specifically asked for less oil, however the food I got were all still pretty oily, made me bloated. The pork chops were so tender you could cut it with a fork, and came boneless. Both were super good, and hit the spot. Their portions were very generous and we got two meals out of it. No frills, legit HK tea cafe! I usually swing by for lunch and have tried their lunch specials and baked dishes. My favorites are their stir fried noodles (the satay noodle with chicken and pineapple is bomb) and anything from their wok - the wok hei is unreal. They have a really expansive menu so you'll find something for everyone. What's more, their lunches come with a hot drink (cold drink for $1 more) and, if you dine in, house soup and another tea. I'd come here for the HK milk tea alone! I do speak Cantonese and it helps with communicating with the workers but everything is easy to read and navigate through. I've done both dine in and order online through their own website and both were pretty flawless. Quick, delicious, and usually enough for you to bring home for a second meal. Around 6-7 years ago this place used to sell massive portions. I remember getting a baked rice dish and the to-go lasted me for a whole other day afterwards. Sadly in recent years, especially with the pandemic, their portions have shrunk significantly. In a way though, this could be a good thing since it prevents you from overeating. As for the food itself, its a bit hit or miss. Some things are very good and some aren't. I find their baked rice/spaghetti dishes very good, which honestly is the biggest thing for me at a Hong Kong cafe. Their chow funs on the other hand are kinda bland and their fried pork runs a bit a salty, just to name a few examples. At the end of the day, this place is good enough for me to come back as a regular and I still find myself every now and then ordering the stuff I found bland last time simply because I crave the dish itself and its really "not bad." I find it crazy though how there are not very many Hong Kong cafes in the Cupertino area. All of the good ones seem to be up in East Bay. Service also has always sucked, which is typical of these types of restaurants. I usually like getting a pork chop baked rice, which is a classic dish in HK cafes. On a good day it's a solid dish, but on bad days I've found the pork chop slightly unpredictable. My Cantonese grandma used to always laugh at me that Cantonese food and vegetarian food are different cuisines. Quarantine Eats #15: Very homey and comforting Cantonese food! I actually hadn't been here for over two years and finally decided to give it a go again. I came here for takeout for lunch this past Saturday and ordered the pork belly and fried tofu w/rice, the beef stew and vegetable with rice, salt and pepper fried chicken wings, and the preserved egg porridge. The food was available in the timespan the restaurant specified, and it was very flavorful (minus the chicken wings). The pork belly had a nice amount of fat to it which paired nicely with the fried tofu. The beef stew was also very traditional and very comforting to eat with the bok choy and white rice. Sadly the wings were a bit of a let down, with there being almost no salt on them. But luckily everything else was fantastic and I will definitely return here again in the future! read more

I alway get the 3-item combo to share with a friend or two, and it always lets me get my favorite dish while trying new ones! Our go-to's are the Salt & Pepper fish (deep fried fillets with lots of jalapeno and onion) and the Braised Tofu & Pork Belly. It even comes with a free soup! The free soup is different every time, and quite simple. A lot of people aren't fans, but it reminds me of the soup that my mom used to make (just a meat-based broth with whatever vegetables - daikon, carrots, wintermelon, etc - are around). The portion sizes are also very generous and there's always a little bit leftover to save for later. This place has been reliable for both takeout (from DoorDash, Doordash pickup, or just going in person) and dine-in. Love this place and will always support my local small business :) read more

I'm very disappointed today. I have ordered 2 rices with 3 dishes to go today. When I went back home and unpacked the food. No rices were found, the complimentary soup was all spilt out, the bottom of the paper box was broken because of the sauce. And what's worst, the Braised Seasonal Vegetable in Broth has only broth. I didn't see any vegetables! This is the first time I order to go in this cafe. I've been eating in this cafe for many times because I think the food is good and I recommended it to many friends. They have a wide variety of HK style foods, including traditional Chinese dishes, to Asian-Western fusion with some baked dishes, like baked pork chop over spaghetti, or teppanyaki/sizzling dishes. All come with generous portion sizes and solid flavor and taste. Some of the dishes are specials and also come with a free hot drink (like milk tea, etc). You can upgrade to a cold drink for $1 usually. The hot coffee milk tea was solid - we got it twice. They also have the 3 dish special for $24 every evening. Lots of options you choose from this dinner special menu and they're all solid dishes. I highly recommend the fish/tofu stone pot or the seafood stone pot - both came with plentiful portion size and were delicious. Service is fast and good. Food comes out super quickly, even for baked dishes (my baked dish was actually the first one to come out!). Table turnover is pretty fast, so even if there is a wait, it usually doesn't take long. Lots of people order take out as well, so that's always an option. Unlike the previous occupants here, they accept credit cards, so ignore the "Cash Only" sign near their counter. Came here with friends on a Sunday around 1pm. My friend described it as Hong Kong comfort food. One person ordered the eggplant mapo tofu, the other beef tongue with corn cream sauce. I ordered the baked chicken steak with mushroom sauce. Mapo tofu was decent, especially with the eggplant, which usually goes well with the sauce of mapo tofu. If you're looking for a spicy mapo tofu dish, you may be a bit disappointed. For me with no spice tolerance, it was right up my alley, and I would have loved ordering it myself. As it was, the person who ordered it wanted spice and ended up keeping the chili sauce on the table close. The beef tongue was decently good. You just don't get much meat and have a ton of sauce left over. The baked chicken steak mushroom sauce dish was hefty. Wow. Tons of sauce but also tons of rice. Good for maybe 2 meals, especially with the creaminess of the sauce. Definitely comfort food. I have to start slathering cream of mushroom sauce on meat and rice at home, since it was pretty good! You also get a decent portion of chicken. To be honest, I want to give this place 3.5 stars. My $10 dish could probably be cooked for about $3 at home (I know what to cook this weekend...). As we can't give half stars, I'll be nice and give it 4 stars since the service was pretty quick. Definitely good if you want some rich comfort food. read more

I ordered the Mini Baked Pork Chop with spaghetti ($6.95) during their Happy Hour (9pm and after) which comes with a small HK Milk Tea ($0.99 for cold). Despite being called 'mini' it was a portionable amount of food and the spaghetti was cooked well. The pros end there, however; it was overall a disappointing meal. The flavor of the sauce was lackluster in taste and the pork was noticeably missing. The HK milk tea was okay, but it came in a small cup, I was expecting at least a medium size. Compared to the Hong Kong cafes I have been to back at home, this was a considerable miss. They have many classic HK comfort food, but I'm hesitant to try them. I probably won't be back. read more
