I got to the part where I had to input which type of automobile I needed a new windshield on, and Toyota Sienna wasn't an option. Seriously, how can one of the top-selling minivans and the #1 rated minivan by Edmunds somehow not exist as an option on Safelite's website? So I had to call and schedule it over the phone. And it took a lot longer than it should have. After each question the customer service rep asked me, I'd answer and then there would be a several minute wait. When the appointment was finally scheduled, I was told that there would be a several week wait because of the popularity of the Sienna. Then a week later, I received an email saying that the replacement windshield was in, and when I called the number provided in the email, the rep told me that it was a glitch in their system and that they still didn't have the part. So, for all those people upset at Safelite, I feel you. And yet I'm giving them 5 stars? The reason is that the next email I received a few weeks later told me to choose an appointment time because the glass had arrived. This time, I was able to do schedule it online, and when I went there, they were wonderful. A rock thrown up by a passing 18-wheeler had shattered the back quarter glass on the driver's side in several places, and there were glass pieces everywhere. The service techs at Safelite were courteous, started working on my car as soon as I arrived, and did a fantastic job of thoroughly cleaning everywhere, removing the shattered glass, and replacing it. And I was in and out of there in a shade over 30 minutes. I just went to the Toyota dealership where I bought the Sienna, and when I explained to them what had happened with Safelite, they were actually surprised that I was able to get the glass replaced so quickly. They said that sometimes it takes several months for them to get the replacement glass, and then they distribute them to companies such as Safelite. So, in the end, Safelite in Quincy did a great job. The website problems aren't their fault.

Tech called at 1:30 asking if I wanted windshield done. I called company and could not ever reach a live person. Don't waste your time. Go to one of the few remaining local shops so if there's an issue, you can deal direct. Safelite is building a monopoly based on a related company handling insurance claims and steering everyone to their shops and remote service.

It's worth noting that they also offer full service (interior and exterior) which is more expensive ($320, iirc but don't quote me on that). Normally, I'd eschew from doing that but I found out they also have a "mini maintenance" option for those who have done full detailing. At $140 they "maintain" the cleanliness of the car so you don't have to do a full detail again (unless the car is really nasty), so in the long run, this is probably a good, cost-effective option. I'll consider doing this next time I go back.

When I called to ask why there was a no-show, the admin told me that the service was never scheduled properly in the system. She rescheduled me for Wednesday 9am-12pm. However, with the 2 feet of snow coming on Tuesday, I didn't feel that the windshield would hold up, so I asked if I could drop my car off and keep it in their garage overnight on Monday and Tuesday, until the Wednesday AM procedure. The phone admin said that it would be acceptable. When I walked into JN Phillips, the desk associate didn't look up for what felt like a couple of minutes. I stood awkwardly at the desk waiting. When I gave her my keys, she said, in a condescending tone that keeping cars wasn't normal practice and that JN Phillips was doing me a favor. I thanked her for the exception. She continued, in a crass tone, with the comments of how this was unusual. I informed her that I tried to schedule it twice, and that JN Phillips made an scheduling error. She seemed embarrassed and apologized. The apology was appreciated, but regardless, if JN Phillips was doing me a favor, I feel strongly that a guilt trip is not warranted. The glass is shiny and new. It was done quickly, and the e-mail notification was efficient. I appreciate that JN Phillips recycles their windshields. However, there's a glass left over inside the car from the crack. I don't expect a detail, but I would have appreciated expect a quick wipe down.
