Beef with Bitter Melon

Come here for lunch for the first time. Ordered a few lunch specials. In addition, my party ordered an Abalone dish. I do not recommend "Wonton Noodle Soup" due to lack of taste. We asked the server for Red Vinegar and Chili Sauce. 15 minutes later the server just took the vinegar away without our consent while we are still eating. The server also took our soup bowls away while we still have the soup of the day on our table.

Just a quick updated review on my latest visit to Lobster Bay... My aunts threw a birthday lunch for one of my uncles. He is one of my Dad's younger brothers. There were about 30+ people so we occupied 3 tables... large, medium, and small tables LOL... not kidding. Each table was instructed to order one dish per person. My table had 11 people, but we ended up getting 13 dishes. I guess we don't follow instructions well when it comes to food LOL. It's all good. It was hard to capture the staff's attention as we were at the far corner table. However, when we did get their attention, they were very receptive and took good care of us. Thank you! All of our 13 dishes were yummy and delicious (check out photos). Flavors were on point! Portions were decent. We got the complimentary lunch soup and white rice which was nice. There was one mix up... for the bittermelon spare ribs, they made it with beef in error... no biggie, we kept the dish as is... it was quite tasty actually. I do have to call out their amazing salt and pepper shrimp as it was the most favorite dish by all counts... SO SO GOOD! There weren't any least favorites really. Everything was fantastic! Dishes were emptied as they arrived shortly to the table LOL. Great job Lobster Bay! I did have one observation... it was during lunch time on a Saturday and there weren't a lot of customers which was quite concerning. They are located within a side street so maybe people don't know they are here. Anyway, hope they do better during dinner time. Anyone reading this, go and support Lobster Bay when you're in the Rowland Heights area! I know we'll be back for sure...

Went here on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't too busy. We ordered a lot of food but my favorites would have to be the House lobster and the honey walnut shrimp! We didn't have much leftovers but they packed up the leftovers for us. Service was great and the restroom was clean. Prices were very fair. Would definitely come back again!

This is my go to everytime I want my crispy chow mein to go! The two men that always helps me are so kind and super nice! I hate that I can never find parking but they are so nice to let me park in front since it takes me 3 minutes to get and pay for my food.

Reasonable prices for amazing family sized portions; this place is a hole in the wall place with a well experienced crew of waiters that have been around for years. They frequently run sales on their seafood items, making it one of the best places for lobster dishes in the SGV!

A staple spot for family style Chinese food, I have had so many family gatherings here. My favorite dishes are the salt and pepper squid and the fried whole flounder!

Asian food- they provide live fresh seafood, especially the lobster and fish, was incredibly yummy. Each dish was delicious and tasty, making our dining experience truly exceptional. The service was also great. Our server was very nice and provided excellent service throughout the evening. The kids loved the place too, adding to the overall enjoyment of our celebration. If you're looking for a place with fresh seafood and a great atmosphere, I highly recommend Lobster Bay! Free parking. Make reservations before you go.

Cold peiking duck

We went there for lunch, it was good. Big portion with lunch specials. But dinner was so disappointed. Peiking duck is cold, live fish is expensive but dead. They didn't show you the fish before cooking. Not recommended this place. Cheating and not honest.

07/08/24 Today would have been my father's 77th birthday. Mom & I celebrated it pretty big at Lobster Bay, but just us. We ordered: *Chicken & Corn Soup *Lobster (deep fried with jalapenos & garlic)*** *Seafood Chow Mein *Rock Cod with Ginger & Chinese Broccoli We didn't say anything about the occasion to John, Ming & Rico as they served us. They were surprised with the amount of food we ordered, but this is how my dad used to order. Order a lot of dishes. Make sure everyone has a taste of everything. Take home what's left/ if anything is left. ***It's Lobster Bay's 10th Anniversary, we got another lobster for free!!! (When you order more than $77)

Celebrated my nephew's birthday with lunch at Lobster Bay. My first time eating here and I was impressed. We arrived about 1pm and there were plenty of tables so we were seated right away. After taking our order we didn't have to wait too long before we were served soup. We asked for ice waters in the beginning but they didn't bring them until after the soup. Just a slight delay. They served a house special soup to start. Different...with red beans in it, but good. Next came the Kung Pao chicken which tasted pretty ordinary. After the tofu in Chiu Chou sauce was served warm. Deep fried tofu covered in a soy type of sauce...it was good! Next came the stir fried string beans with Minced pork. The string beans were crispy and flavorful. We wanted to try the Rice Noodles in Zhong Shan style and really enjoyed thi tasty noodle dish. The last dish served was the House special lobster with noodles. The lobster was cooked in a sauce that was a little spicy but had a really good flavor! You could order the lobster cooked in other ways but we all thought this dish was delicious! The restaurant is decorated more than your typical Chinese restaurant. They even have. Fishing net displayed and hanging at the entrance with "caught" items in it. It's large enough to have a banquet but I'm not sure if they have dividers to make them more private. The food is good and the price is not too expensive so I do recommend giving it a try if you are in the area.

Their HK style food is authentic and delicious. We started with the hot and sour soup and it is literally the best version we have ever had. It had a bit of the Szechuan numbing spice and was a huge portion so we took half home. We also ordered their steamed rice rolls with shrimp and chive and you can tell it was made fresh by the wrinkles in the rice paper. The last item we ordered was their chinese sausage clay pot. It was exactly what we were craving. Crispy rice all along the edges with perfectly steamed rice, chinese broccoli and crispy chinese sausage. It was hard to choose because their menu was huge and we came late so we missed the pineapple buns but definitely need to try it next time. I also saw everyone ordering the lemon iced tea and realized it's because they do free refills! That's another need to try. I felt the value was really great and we definitely are coming back. Service was also great. The waiters quickly came over when you waved them down and they checked on you just the right amount of time. The decor inside is very cute and I love the retro style. Only complaint I would have is that we sat on the left side of the restaurant and there were quite a few mosquitos on the booth so we ended up sitting on one side.

It took about ten minutes for us to get a booth table, but we were waiting inside. The staff member called numbers firstly in Cantonese then in English. After we sat down, the waiting line persisted past 1 pm. Similarly, the bustling loudness continued on during the course of our meal. Food arrived quickly, however. The price point for the delicious food is competitive. We got French-style filet mignon ($18.99), braised tofu in brown sauce ($14.99), chicken chow mein ($14.99), and a steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork ($5.99). A pot of rice was included in our meal. The steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork was a nice appetizer that arrived first. I enjoyed how the French-style filet mignon was garnished with Thai basil, black pepper, and ginger. The meat was flavorful and tender. The braised tofu in brown sauce was consistently hot on the inside. The delicious brown sauce soaked throughout the vegetables. The chicken chow mein didn't have a lot of sauce, but it was still delicious with a lot of meat included. Overall, it would be nice to visit again outside of a peak time because the food prices are competitive. The menu is expansive, and the breakfast selections look interesting. The atmosphere during the Sunday lunch peak time was consistently bustling. I think the restaurant started to play Chinese music loudly at random points so that people could finish dining more quickly.

We were placed in the back room, which felt a little more calm compared to the main dining area. Service was good. Our waiter was fast, friendly, and really on top of things, which made a big difference since it was packed. Ordering is simple, they give you a paper menu where you mark what you want and hand it back. We ordered tea for two and picked a bunch of dim sum: jumbo shrimp har gow, shrimp fried wontons, steamed rice noodle roll with shrimp, baked abalone sauce BBQ pork bun, poached Chinese broccoli, and custard egg tarts. Everything came out fresh and hit the spot. The har gow were plump and juicy, the rice noodle rolls were soft and silky, and the BBQ pork buns had that perfect slightly sweet, fluffy texture. The egg tarts were a great finish--warm and flaky. We did end up only getting 5 out of the 6 items we ordered, but honestly we were already pretty full at that point so I didn't feel like making it a big deal. Also... we were so hungry we totally forgot to take pictures of the rest of the food Overall, a good dim sum spot, however I felt like the prices were a bit higher than the other dim some places I usually go to. The food here is mediocre at best and the service is just awful. They make you feel like a burden and inconvenience right from the bat and refuse to acknowledge you. We were ordering with a waitress then she suddenly got frustrated when we tried to order the honey walnut shrimp and threw her hands in the air and called someone else over. The tall Asian guy who took our orders also made us seem like an inconvenience and even walked away in the middle of us ordering. He kept this same attitude throughout the whole time. My parents were excited for the 99 cent chicken deal they had and wanted to order more and the same guy refused to acknowledge their questions and ultimately told us it was 1 order per table. This is fine if that's their policy, but it was the way he was acting. He made us feel that we were cheap and stingy wanting to take advantage or get cheap eats. If you don't want people to order this cheap dish, don't have it on your menu or advertise it! Also, we ordered plenty of other foods. Beware because this place seems like they're scammy. I ordered a pot of rice and apparently they charge rice per person so regardless of how many people you have, you still get the same pot of rice but more expensive. This makes no sense even when I questioned them about it. When we tried to ask one of the cart ladies about ordering a football from the fried section, she gave us another item instead and when we opened it up, it wasn't what we wanted. They kept trying to push more items on our table to get our money even though we repeatedly said no. They also charge for sauce and didn't tell us. Another waitress (who we didn't even interact with throughout our time) chased me down trying to pressure me to tip more. I have no problem tipping, but when the service is like this, I am not going to leave a 20% tip like usual. I will say the kind busser here was exceptional and although he didnt speak English, he was so kind and honestly made my day. Everyone else here was rude and unwelcoming. The mediocre food here is not worth the outright disrespectful and terrible service.

The staff were rude, dismissive, and acted annoyed that customers were even there. One of the girls, the one with the ponytail, was especially rude and needs to learn basic manners. Another staff member was also unfriendly and gave attitude the entire time. I also did not appreciate being pressured about tipping. A tip should be optional and based on good service. If the service is poor, customers should not be made to feel uncomfortable or confronted over it. On top of that, they add extra charges when using a credit card, including a fee if you spend under $30. That already feels frustrating, but the bigger issue is the attitude and poor treatment from staff. Customers are the reason businesses stay open. No one is asking to be treated like royalty, but people come in to enjoy a meal and should at least be treated with basic respect. If I am going to be ignored, rushed, and given attitude, I would rather stay home and eat in front of my TV.
