Every time I go to Yankee Stadium, I'm always tempted to get the Steak Topped Fries at Lobel's but the line is usually outrageous. This time, I used Uber Eats and didn't have to wait so that was worth a star. The older Hispanic guy who got my order was so nice and didn't rush me at all so that was worth another star. Unfortunately, the food wasn't it. The fries were tasteless, the sauce was scant, and the whole thing needed salt (but not everyone can handle salt so I understand that). The steak was super tender and the green onions were a much needed fresh element so that was worth another star but when I got it, it looked like it was hanging around for a bit. If you look at the pics, the steak doesn't look freshly cut. I won't give up on Lobel's just yet. I'll give them another shot but for now, they were just ok. read more

The pastrami sandwich was sooooo yummy! I'd definitely recommend stopping by as soon as the stadium opens because they can get quite busy. I wanted French fries with filet mignon. They had none. I had to settle for tater tots with steak because they wouldn't give me filet mignon on the tater tots. When I heard steak sandwich, my mind traveled to Pat's and Geno's. But this was no cheesesteak. No, rather than fake cheese and meat that leaves you asking "Where's the beef?", this steak sandwich was tender, flavorful, and well worth my money. Served with horseradish, it was zesty and savory all at once. The gravy makes it messy, but the sticky fingers were well worth it. The lady at the counter was friendlier than anybody I'd encountered at a ball game. She smiled and made some conversation (but not too much). Yankee Stadium has some pretty limited food options, so I was torn between Lobel's and Mighty Quinn. The butcher in the Lobel's window slicing up steaks helped make the decision easy. I ordered the $16 steak sandwich, and was handed one immediately that was pre-prepared in a box. The thing is hamburger bun sized, but with lots of thin sliced steak and a TON of sauce. You're going to get your hands slimey. This may not be a fair comparison because I feel like Safeco Field in Seattle is probably one of the best food stadiums in the country, but I had a similar sandwich there (but with pork), where they had a warm jus going over a hotplate and they dipped the meat in there before placing it on the bun. It made a hell of a difference vs. what Lobel's did with premade sandwiches sitting around coagulating. I can't really fault them for the $16 price tag since it's a ballpark, but I can't say it's not worth it because the food options at Yankee Stadium suck and you can spend way more for way less. read more

Used to be great, not so much anymore. I recall this used to be hands down the best steak sandhich in the stadium, carved to order, tender, hot and juicy. Now they changed where its prepared well ahead of time and they let the sandwiches sit, presumably so the line will move faster. Downside is my sandwich was cold and dry. I purchased 2 natural filet minions from Lobels for Christmas dinner- Pan seared them on the skillet with butter and cracked pepper for 1 minute on each side to brown the surface, then put the whole skillet in the oven for 14 minutes- Steaks came out like butter! Went to Yankee Stadium yesterday for my birthday with the whole family and was already planning on eating something other than hot dogs. I had heard of this well known steak sandwich place that has 2 locations in the stadium. So when my daughters and son in law finally arrived it was time to eat lunch. He asked me what I wanted and I said there's a Lobel's in section 321 not far from our seats. It took a while as they bought me a birthday gift shirt and searched for vegetarian food for my daughter. Yankee Stadium has a lot of food options. Well, first off these are not cheese steaks. Also the sandwich is not huge. Since I'm cutting back on meal sizes it was the perfect portion. The sandwich is very well put together. The beef is medium and cut like between an eighth and quarter inch thick. Very tender and juicy. The bun is perfect, round and sturdy but soft. The bread should have a supporting role, and not steal the show. Dressed with a golden gravy and onions, the sandwich is simply a sensational delight from first bite to the last. I don't know the price point but I think it's worth whatever my son in law paid. Will definitely have the sandwich again my next visit to the stadium next season. read more

I made a trek all the way from the 4th level of Yankee's Stadium down to ground level just to get my hand on one of these sandwiches, only to make the trek all the way back up and find they recently opened one of the 4th level for the convenience of the guests. alskjalklkj. pro tip: they have two locations now, not just one. :( OH my. This sandwich is like heaven with every bite. They load up the buttery brioche buns with juicy au jus covered slices of prime rib. The juices and the sauce are quickly absorbed by the soft tender buns which attribute to a flavor so amazing.. you simply can not find this anywhere else. It is definitely not cheap at $16 per sandwich, but considering the generous amounts of quality cut, melt-in-your-mouth meat you receive, this might actually be considered a steal. I mean, if a lemonade costs $6.. you are essentially paying the cost for less than three lemonades in exchange for something extraordinary. The meat is finger pull tender that sits inside a pillow of a roll then dipped in its own natural juice. Great sandwich all around and especially at the stadium. Not being a long time New Yorker I had no clue what was the must-have food to enjoy at Yankee Stadium. As I was walking through the concourse Lobel's had the longest line with at least 20 people waiting (still less than a ten minute wait though) I knew I had to try it out and let me tell you it was delicious! The steak sandwich was $16 and you had the option of choosing rare or medium rare with an excellent gravy sauce on a bun! I have been going to Lobel's since they started at the Stadium. It was the best ever. Unfortunately, something changed recently to make it go from the best to just average. The meat was not fresh and rare, and the flavor was ok , but not great. It appeared that they have changed from the original fresh, excellent product to a run of the mill sandwich. Ahhhh Lobel's... I've been to Yankee Stadium a ton but came here for the first time this past opening day. To start, it's a cool little place because you can see the guys slicing the meat behind the window. But, let's be clear -- the sandwich is way overpriced at $16 a pop. Yes, I understand it's Yankee Stadium and NYC but still overpriced. Worst part about the experience was how long it took. They only had one person actually putting the sandwiches together and it was not done efficiently. I think everyone was rusty on opening day, including the Lobel's sandwich makers. On to the sandwich...they do give you a fair amount of meat which is nice and the roll is decent. I do think they could use some better bread. Then, they douse it with some gravy/sauce. The meat was pretty tender and it is definitely a very good sandwich -- don't get me wrong. This is also a "lotsa" napkins type of sandwich. It's messy but good. I'd get a sandwich here again but only if the line wasn't incredibly long. All they sell is sandwiches and drinks -- that's it. Be warned. I'm sure I'll be back. read more

This was incredible!! The meat was perfectly seasoned and very tender. I worried the well done appearance was going to hinder the taste, but absolutely not.
