Hidden gem next to Yankee Stadium! Given that the park's food options trend expensive and mediocre in quality, Bullpen Deli's huge menu with reasonable prices was a welcome discovery. I ordered a veggie wrap with tofu, avocado, mozzarella, tomato, spinach, and dressing. It was one of several vegetarian options. It was a little small, but pretty good! I could have probably downed two of them. The deli sandwich my dad ordered seemed to be a ton of food, piled high with turkey and chicken. For the wrap, sandwich, and two bottles of water, it was only $23 with card. (There's a small cash discount.) At this price and quality, I'd highly recommend forgoing the stadium food, stopping by here instead, and bringing your food into the ballpark. read more

I was meeting my buddy there for what turned out to be the Yankees last game of 2025. I got to the deli a few minutes early and ordered a turkey sandwich to take into the Stadium. I received a nice portion of turkey, along with lettuce and tomato. The price was very reasonable, especially considering how close they are to Yankee Stadium. The sandwich was juicy & tasty. I'm thinking I'll need to stop here for food before going into the Stadium in 2026. read more

Honestly a great location to come to before a game! Everything on the menu seems so delicious and it's a deli! You can get whatever you want! My healthy chicken was $10 and for the price it was a good size sandwich! It was typical quality ingredients with extremely quick service! Not much to complain about here! This place has been in the shadow of Yankee Stadium for quite a few years now. I've stopped in here a few times, always after a game, to get a drink or an ice cream. Yesterday, I went to the game with my cousin and he swore they make great sandwiches to take in with us. So I got the Italian Combo hero, and he was right, they do make great sandwiches. Lunch while in the area for Bronx Civil Court summons me for a plate of hot platter of bland mesh unappealing and not enticing. This café contains a hot and cold salad bar sold by the pound where my plate cost $7.00. The server was adamant that any fish and chicken cutlet must be purchased as whole slabs not in pieces. Servers are welcoming as they waved to me seeking my attention as one stated "smile" resulting from exhaustion and dispirited. All in all and all in the food - it is very mediocre and overpriced. In the morning, daily, there is a large influx of NYPD officers attaining their breakfast here. read more

I go to over 60 Yankee games a year, so believe me when I tell you this is the spot for pre-game food (or if you get stuck at the Courthouse.) This is not your typical South Bronx bodega. It's clean, spacious, they serve real food, speak English, have a seating area, don't sell beer, and don't even take food stamps. They have a menu of about 30 hot and cold sandwiches to choose from, or you can order your own. They have a full selection of Boar's Head cold cuts and they serve hot food six days a week. The employees are super friendly, something you just don't find much of in New York. They also have huge selections of cold bottled drinks, candy, and chips. Their prices are typical deli prices. You can either take your food inside the Stadium (this is how I'm able to afford 60+ games a year!) or you can sit down at one of their tables in the back! Cons: - No beer! They have a ton of beer signs, but they don't sell beer anymore. (This may be a pro if you're sitting down to eat and don't want to be accompanied by people using the seats as a pregame tailgate.) - Right before a game, the sandwich line can get a little long and seating a bit slim. - Some of their hot food leaves a lot to be desired (specifically their imitation of Italian food), but there is usually something tasty there! read more

E and I decided to take a stroll (subway ride) up to The Bronx today, we started with a subway car tour all the way up to Pelham Station, and on the way back we stopped to see Yankee Stadium, E being much more of a baseball fan than I am wanted to stop into the Yankee Stadium Fan Store, after getting her new hat and stickers for her cup we found ourselves upon the Bullpen Deli, this is a great and basic Brooklyn Deli, you can get deli sandwiches, salads, hot items, pastries, chips and drinks. E finally found an egg salad sandwich she was willing to try from a deli and she was so glad she did. I ordered the "Hot to Trot" spicy turkey and chicken with a hoarse radish sauce, we split a bag of Utz garlic and onion chips and we each got a bottled drink. In the back you'll find several tables where you can eat at the deli and relax do a little while! Par for the fashion of a good New York Bronx Deli the guys behind the counter making the sandwiches were a lot of fun and for a Sicilian like me it made me feel right at home so of course I had to join in on the smack talk. E and I found a new deli we love, the food was great, I made some new friends with the guys working there and I made E roll her eyes at me, all in all a great time! read more

Because you can in fact take food and non-alcholic, non-glass bottled drinks into Yankee stadium, it's important to have a go-to deli in the area for cheap grub. This is my place. I don't think it's really called the "Banana Deli," Rather the "Stop Deli", but whatever. Just look for 66 E 161st st, and the sign that ironically reads "Bahston Subs." It's just a great classic deli. A huge drink case with perhaps 100 different beverage options, a nice specialty sandwich menu, a very large hot bar, and of course, great made-to-order sandwiches. They slice the cold cuts fresh, do it up with whatever toppings you want (even avocado!), and wrap it up quick to go. Unlike most of the hellishly busy places around Yankee Stadium, you can get in and out of here in five minutes, do it for minimal money, then head on in to see the game. read more

They are right between the Bronx Supreme Court and the train station at Yankee Stadium and I got a custom salad there on the go which was really good. They have a good food menu & a great place to grab something & then go to the subway but I'm not sure it'd be the ideal place to sit and eat as I don't recall seeing a huge seating area here. This is one of my favorite delis in the neighborhood for sure. The staff here is always friendly and kind. You can tell its a very popular place because there is always a flow of people in this place from opening to close. The food is delicious and fresh! You can tell that cleanliness is important here, which honestly who doesn't appreciate that? The delis has so many options that first timers may feel overwhelmed..in a good way of course. There is a buffet style set up for hot foods during the week. This is my favorite part because their options are plenty. There is usually a fish, chicken, and meat version with an array of side choices. And the deli does NOT skimp on portion sizes. The hot buffet deal is a meat and two sides for 8 bucks. I think its a good bargain especially considering that they pack on the sides for you. Want some grilled onions to goon top of your grilled steak? No problems, they will whip up whatever is not already out as an option. My favorite is the salmon, its a must try! Next is the salad section, which is "Oh My Gosh, why are there so many yummy choices to go in my salad?" lol. They have everything to boiled eggs to chick peas to broccoli stems. And everything for the salads look absolutely fresh and crisp. They also make great sandwiches, whether you're going for your own creation or trying one of their gourmet deli sandwiches, you will not be disappointed! Again, they're suing fresh product and piling on the food. The deli has seating in the back which is awesome, because you don't always want to take your food to go. Its great for the Yankee fans as well. Living in the area, the streets are always flooded when they Yankees are playing and so it this place. The food is fresh and tastes good, consistently. There's so many options in this place, whether you want food, something to drink, muffins or just some chips, you will find it here. Oh wait, they also take debit/credit card! Such a rare find in the Bronx sometimes, I was so surprised when they said yes to my card. I'm sure there is a minimum but I usually go in for the hot buffet deal so its been fine so far. They gave me the wrong sandwich and the bread was messed up #noteggsalad #ididntwantturkey. They have a guy who thinks he's funny, but he's not funny and messes up my order almost everyday. They do make a good river road. How surprising, I went again today and again another horrible sandwich. Today's sandwich was possibly the worst I've ever had. I would have rather burned the $8 dollars I spent on this sandwich then eat this bread with a 2 inch piece of chicken. It's surprising how every time the sandwich gets worse and worse. Maybe the guy should stop trying to crack stupid jokes that are never funny and focus and making an edible sandwich for once. Update 7/6 Got a sandwich from here again and it was miserable. I think this is the deli I had lunch in today, though the signs read BULLPEN DELI. I can only repeat what others have posted: Good sandwiches (I had a Cuban sandwich hero which was fresh and delicious), large and varied food and drink options, clean space with limited seating, and friendly service. The only negative I experienced was that I bought a small bottle of milk, which I discovered to be past expiration date by a couple of days. I'll give this place a pass, as this seems to be the exception rather than the rule. This deli does appear to be a top notch option for an informal bite in the Yankee Stadium area. read more

This is my go to spot before Yankees games for my a pre game meal and my sunflower seeds for the game. Prices are much cheaper than inside the Stadium, and the selection's a lot better. They've got an enormous selection of sandwiches, hot food, drinks, fruit, you name it. You can bring your food into the game in the bags they give you, or you can eat in their great seating area. They keep out the drunk riff raff by not selling alcohol. read more
