I ordered a sausage pepper hero it was okay. My husnabd got a chicken parm hero. ( it was horrible, the chicken parm was cold af like cold cold. The bread itself was warm but the everything the chicken and cheese is just so cold like they gave us an old sandwich but swap the bread the a fresher ones. Ice tea was good. Wow. You don't have to go to Florence or Arthur Avenue to find a well-stocked market full of the best Italian goods. We walked out with olives, pancetta, Parmigiano Reggiano, marinara sauce, gluten-free fettucini and tortellini, gluten-free cannoli (!) as delicious as the ones we had at the Mt. Aetna rest stop. Friendly cheerful staff even though the line behind us grew long. And they deliver! Delightful. read more

Absolutely love this gem in the neighborhood. First of all everyone who works there is so friendly. And secondly, the food is delicious. It serves as a market but also has tables where you can get some food and drinks, including outdoor tables in the warm weather. I first came here in the summer for some sandwiches. I was excited for more. Now, I ended up trying their dinner menu and was quite impressed. I got some sparkling wine and beer to try but also indulged in their egg pasta. Came in for lunch to-go! Such a hidden gem in Riverdale. Loved the vibe and how friendly everyone was. Lots of imported Italian goods as well as a huge list of sandwiches and hot meals. I opted not to sit down and eat at the market today but it seems like the perfect spot for a casual date or family lunch. I got the Francamente panini and it was huge for $14. I also got two small canolli (lemon and pistachio). Super sweet but yummy! Loved the lemon flavor. Will definitely be back. Didn't take a picture of the sandwich because I inhaled it. On the surface, it looks like a nice place. The menu of sandwiches seemed a bit steep in price. I decided a create my own with chicken cutlet, lettuce tomato and balsamic. Got the sandwich, and the chicken was ultra thin. I like crispy, but the chicken was so thin could barely even taste it. Mostly just tasted the breading. It definitely wasn't freshly made. Could taste the prosciutto and it was alright. I know the picture looks like 2 slices of chicken, and it is, but one is just a small piece of the chicken on the other half of the sandwich. Two very thin chicken cutlets. One per side of sandwich. I don't expect many pieces, but at least thicker. My friend got a mushroom rice ball and it was obvious that it was frozen, barely any rice and two thin slices of mushroom inside and noticeably microwaved. It was basically hollow. The rice and mushroom didn't fill the entire center like it should. It cost $6. Someone hyped this place up to me, and can't say it lived up to it. All I got was this sandwich and it cost $15.79 with tax. read more

Came here for a quick bite. The panini is the number one item ordered. However, they do offer a selection of pastas and hot food see menu below. The prices for the paninis are a bit pricey but the panini I ordered had a good amount of meats and reasonably sized. You can definitely shared with someone if you're not that hungry. The panini I ordered was very fresh and tasted yummy. The place has indoor and outdoor seating. I love that they sell a variety' of Italian groceries. I even saw wine and beer. They were out of cibatta bread so I got the rosemary instead. The pastries were yummy as well great place to stop by and get your meats , cheese's or even cofeee. Somehow I thought I already reviewed this very elegant venue. It is much like stepping into a deli/cafe in the heart of Florence! Beautiful selection of every unique Italian condiment, breadstick, pastries, a small selection of packed self serve artisan cheeses and meats suitable for a lovely charcuterie tray, which Im certain they can make for you, as they have an extensive catering menu. The staff is amazingly accommodating and friendly. The actually deli counter is beyond compare. Nothing like it in the area, maybe not even on Arthur Ave, although I have not looked there, because ..... why? am pretty sure they have gelato, and there is a small seating section for anyone who is too excited to wait to eat one of their delicious paninis. My next order of business is to try one of their pastas, but will have to wait to go with a friend. If the portion is anything like the panini, it will be at least equivalent to two servings or else plan to eat it for lunch, dinner and lunch again! Another heads up, parking can be a little tricky, I recommend grabbing a takeout menu, calling in advance, then run in to grab it. However, if you are walking distance and have not been inside before, take a stroll and take your time. The items on the shelfs such a fig jam, European cookies.... many of these in their regular packaging are fully gift-worthy AS IS without extra wrapping, maybe a simple brown bag and a card? I keep a few handy for last minute bdays, and DEFINITELY perfect for Secret Santa type events. REALLY the only reason for only 4 Stars is that its SO popular, sometimes when Im craving something, its simply too crowded and I am too impatient! So really I should give myself one less star. Emiliano & Franca have been our neighbors in this North Riverdale enclave for years. And as their story tells, they always wanted to put together their own "Piazza". Piazza is an Italian name for a public square where people can hang out. And Emiliano's Market is becoming that quite rapidly. I wish they had even more space to spread their warmth around the neighborhood. I love to travel around the city to find fresh Italian ingredients to make food at home, and that would take me typically to the Bronx's little Italy, and some other particular favorite haunts around the city. But now I don't have to go anywhere. I just walk down the street and I have everything I need from prepared food to food I can make myself. I think the most important thing about this market is that as a former shop owner myself I know the reason people keep coming back is because of how you treat them. And Emiliano & Franca just make you feel so at ease, so welcome, so appreciated, that you will keep returning. It's the relationship that you make with shop owners that makes you a loyal customer, in addition to their wonderful collection of food and goods. This place has it all. If you want to feel like you have your own little Italian Piazza to hang out at, come visit. This place is precious and we're not letting it ever leave North Riverdale. read more

What a welcome addition to the Riverdale neighborhood! (And I totally concur with Yelp reviewer Adam P. that this place is "a blessing to the neighborhood.") Emiliano's is currently operating in "soft opening" mode--that is, for the time being, they are only serving a few speciality foods imported from Italy (olive oils, tapenades, pastas, and the like), made-to-order sandwiches and paninis, and drinks (sodas, juices, and flavored water). The deli does plan on carrying hot, take-away selections, but they haven't yet begun stocking them. I asked an employee when they would begin serving hot food, and they mentioned that their homemade take-away selections were "coming soon." Apparently, the deli is just now in the process of staffing up and building their menus. Now for details on my first visit: Our first trip to Emiliano's occurred on a weekend day around lunchtime. I was accompanied by my partner Tony, and we both were jonesing for sandwiches after a long morning bike ride. Tony had the Emiliano sandwich, which was served on Rosemary Ciabatta (they were out of regular Ciabatta bread). The ingredients included prosciutto, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula, and oil & vinegar. Tony reported that his sandwich was super tasty, and I totally agree (yes, he reluctantly gave me a bite). I tried the Peppino sandwich, which featured prosciutto, mortadella, capicola, grana padana (a hard Italian cheese), roasted red peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, and oil & vinegar. It was also super tasty and served on "Hero" bread. Note that Emiliano's uses Italian (not Italian American) hero bread, which is much tougher to chew than the Italian American counterpart. If you don't like bread that will give your jaws a workout, I suggest changing the bread to Ciabatta. As for the deli's interior, it's been totally gutted and renovated to resemble a modern Italian take-away deli. In other words, it's quite inviting! They also have set up a few outside tables on the sidewalk, which are quite inviting when the weather is nic. Final thoughts: Both of us were blown away by how tasty everything was. We are definitely eager to return, and we are especially excited about some of the forthcoming homemade hot selections. read more

I happened to stumble to this magical market thanks to a simple online order I made through Uber eats! I had no idea how wonderful of a market this place was until I went there to pick up my order after work. The entire layout and atmosphere here felt special, my mood changed as soon as I walked in.-the place is impressive. Everything here is Italian! I mean, EVERYTHING! They just don't sell food and pastries, they also sell Italian beers, sparking waters, coffee beans, olive oil, potteries, lotions, tooth pastes, toiletries as well! The store has wonderfully fresh, crisp chicken cutlets here, making superb sandwiches. Honestly, what won my heart was how they treated me. The customer service here was exceptional, I was a nobody, let alone, this was my first time here and they treated me with care. Franca and the staff here even called me in advance to update me that they were short of the smaller portioned sfogliatella, she gave me the larger portion at no cost! So upset it took me this long to find out about Emiliano's Market. I drive past it almost everyday on my lunch break but glad I finally decided to give it a try. I walk in and greeted immediately. Inside is small and cute. Very clean and some seats if you want to sit down and enjoy your sandwich. The service is excellent and they were very friendly. On the sandwich I got Prosciutto di parma, chicken cutlet, fresh mozz, sun dried tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic glaze. The sandwich is phenomenal and the bread is super fresh. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I had my sandwich pressed. My only concern would be for the chicken cutlet to be a little thicker. They really pounded it lol. I found this place while I was browsing through Yelp on a search for caterers in a 10 mile radius of our home. I noticed it was Italian and I'm biased to these types of places b/c I'm Italian American. It had stellar reviews and the pics of the food seemed authentic and I was sold. I ordered on a Friday before Thanksgiving. The woman over the phone who assisted me could not have been nicer. Her name was Franca. We ordered our thanksgiving meal. Which consisted of a 45$ Anti-pasta plate, which was beautifully prepared. The Genoa salami was crafted into looking like long petals of a flower. And they added small colorful petals from real flowers around the cheese, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, as well as the mini bread sticks with prosciutto wrapped around them plus olives. Everything not only looked good but was just as delicious! We also ordered lasagna, carrots and French string beans, mashed potatoes, home made herb roasted stuffing, gravy, and sliced , thick Italian Herb encrusted Turkey. The Turkey was savory, slightly fatty and completely mouth wateringly delicious! Lately we ordered a box of deserts; 2 mini fresh cannolis, 2 sfogliatelle, 2 aragostini ( think lobster claw pastries) one filled with regular white cream and the other with pistachio flavored cream. And 2 casatelle. The highlights were the Turkey, the homemade gravy, which was savory, the anti pasta with the exception of the parmigiana cheese. The salami was fresh, so tasty. I Funghi, the mushrooms were divinely oiled and salted. The cheese, idk what type of cheese it was, was worth every morsel. And the mini Italian breadsticks wrapped in prosciutto were incredible. Now the lasagna was good.however I prefer my lasagna pasta to be more Al dente. But there was a ton of gooey cheese and the sauce was tasty. One negative was that it was very oily. The mashed potatoes were soo good I couldn't stop eating them right out of the tray. All the deserts were genuinely Italian made pastries that were fresh as they were a perfect ending to round out our Thanksgiving meal from this lovely Italian market out in the Riverdale section of the bronx. Alltogether it came to approx 265$ including tax. Well worth every penny! :) Lovely experience from start to ending. Thanks for the love through food preparation you shared with us. Emiliano's Market is a blessing to the neighborhood. Growing up as an Italian American in Brooklyn, I've become used to what I consider a proper Italian Hero which you could get from deli's / salumeria / pork stores on every other block in South Brooklyn. I've heard Riverdale had italian markes in the past, but nothing like this existed in Riverdale recently until Emiliano's opened up. As of this review, they're still in a soft-open stage and have not had their grand opening. But their sandwich menu is spot on and their sandwich preparation was better than I could hope for. Finally a proper Italian Hero in the neighborhood. This isn't a gut-buster bellybomb like you get on Arthur Ave. What they prepare is the perfect sandwich; excellent imported ingredients and the right amount to leave you satisfied. If this is how good they make their sandwiches, I can't wait until they start making prepared Italian meals. read more

Emiliano's is quickly becoming a Riverdale staple. If you're in the area, you need to stop by! They have an amazing selection of good and foods, and their sandwiches never disappoint. Specifically though, I want to speak about the character of the Emiliano's. These are wonderful people who truly care about the neighborhood. Yesterday, a woman came into their store with a dog that was barking and aggressive. Emiliano's has a sign on the door clearly stating no pets. Her dog actually went up to and was intimidating a guide dog guiding a blind man. This woman refused to control her dog and was incredibly rude to the blind man when he explained that his dog couldn't guide him while being threatened by her dog inside the business. She explained that, "I spend a lot of money here, I can take my dog where I want." The woman eventually left the store as she was in the wrong, BUT ended up writing a completely FALSE review (see March 6th, by Maureen O.). Please don't listen to this. I cannot tell you how completely false it is-- and as a Riverdale resident, I'm appalled that my neighbors could act this way. The important part is that Mr. and Mrs. Emiliano are never ANYTHING but kind people who do so much for the Riverdale community. I've been a customer since they opened, and go once a week, at least. They truly deserve all of your business, and more. My favorite sandwich is the Emiliano-- it's great! But the cannolis are the absolute stars. The best I've ever had.
