This is a small authentic Italian delicatessen located on a very busy road on the border between Yonkers and the Bronx. Our Italian-American family comes here specifically for the handmade fresh mozzarella, which didn't disappoint, until recently. My parents had a bad experience about a month ago. They ordered, had the guy behind the counter bag it, paid and left. When they got home, anticipating that fresh and mouth watering mozzarella taste, they realized it was definitely NOT fresh. Maybe a fluke. Because they have been churning out fresh mozz for years! My wife enjoys the seafood salad behind the glass at the Deli counter. She claims it's the best in Yonkers. One can also buy Italian pantry goods here like, dry pasta, canned Italian imports and glassed Italian imports. Also frozen raviolis/meat/cheese/lobster/mushroom flavored are in the fridge. It's a busy deli especially around the holidays, so I suggest planning ahead; think Christmas/Easter. It's not cheap! But it's mostly good and authentic Italian based deli. I ordered and Italian Combo and brought it home for our teenaged son (13) and he DEVOURED IT!! You will pay high prices. I have been going to this deli for 25 years plus !!!!! The cold cuts are always fresh. The food that's prepared in the back is always delicious . Always a line when you are there . That's Italian deli in South Yonkers or Woodlawn by 1000 miles grew up with it and it's still the best deli in the area

When I go there I get the roast beef on the hero out of this world delicious and the staff is always friendly highly recommended

Heard about this place and stopped in a couple of times. Sadly...I was disappointed each time. You order one thing but ya go home and you get another. Not nice. Not the correct way to run a deli. To keep it simple. Good food...Bad service. I felt it wasn't worth the wait. I don't know if there's a language barrier or they just don't care...but the people behind the counter simply aren't focused and I felt ignored. Horrible service ordered a 3ft hero for my daughter graduation 2 weeks before pick upwent to pick no sandwich they looked at me like had three heads the man that took care of me walked around like he was lost then took another customer not even the owner came out not good service don't recommend it read more

I simply cannot believe how good this place is! I need to go here every week for the rest of my life! Everything this counter-service deli serves is simply mind blowing!! I know it's a trek, but if you ever get up to north Bronx, do yourself a favor and cross right over into southern Westchester County to pick up some Italian amazingness from this place. You can't go wrong with anything here, but my favorites include the stuffed mushroom, rice balls, and Italian Stromboli (like an Italian sub stuffed in the most tasty bread crust you will ever eat)! Lived in this area all my life; 65 years. Avitabile was our go to since I've been married, 43 years, but no more. Wrong sandwich orders, and my Thanksgiving order was a mess with two items missing but included two others I didn't order. Everyone makes mistakes so I continued my tradition of ordering for Christmas Eve with a pickup on 2/22 to try and avoid the crowds. When I arrived, 15 minutes after my scheduled pick up time, some of my order was ready but some was not. While waiting, some rude "big shot" barged in, skipped the line that included a woman with a stroller and started barking orders while the staff was waiting on other customers. The final straw was when he accused a staff member of twice giving me his items and was wrong both times. All of this with the owner standing by wearing a mask that didn't cover his nose and ignoring it all. I'll never step foot in there again. Gianna's on Midland Ave and Avitabile on Yonkers Ave are both better options. Each is very well run and where I will take my business going forward. read more

I had expectations for such a deli but am very disappointed. The chicken cutlet hero was missing the roasted red peppers I ordered. Overall the hero tasted bland. The chicken, lettuce, tomatoes onions did not add any flavor to the oil vinegar, and black pepper. The meat was dry. read more

A really nice selection of Italian prepared food and ingredients. I've been working in the neighborhood the last few weeks and have really enjoyed the take out. The eggplant parm hero is one of the best I've had. The red sauce or as some in the know call "gravy" is darn good. Best deli in Westchester by far. For the holidays the antipasti, we usually get are all the italian cold cuts plus dry sausage, sliced sweet soppresata, and salted bocaccini mozzarella. We ordered 2 3 foot heroes for Superbowl Sunday, one Italian combo and one chicken cutlet with roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella. One word.....AWESOME. We love their hot entrees as well. We enjoyed the chicken francese as well as others including sausage and peppers and eggplant parmigiana. read more

I kept meaning to preorder sandwiches and wings for a party and didn't get around to it until the day of the party. I went into the deli five hours before my party and they were able to accommodate my request of five large subs and a tray of wings. They were super accommodating and even offered to walk the subs to my apartment with me. I thought it was very reasonably priced and was pleasantly surprised when potato salad, macaroni salad, and coleslaw was included as well. Definitely would recommend and will be back soon. read more

Went last week and waited on line a Spanish guy came in and walked to the front of the line and spoke Spanish to an employee . He ordered his food while everyone waited their turn .. he was given a large portion of hot food ( twice the portion that I got and twice the meat ) .. so this is a good place if you know an employee and speak Spanish.. the chicken cutlet is stringy and not very good .. and they are overpriced ... read more

I wrote a review about this place a while back ago. I'll repeat again what I wrote since it was deleted. The food here is fresh; it not only taste fresh but it also looks fresh. Most of the food that I've tried are from the hot menu. However, I do find the prices to be quiet expensive. This may be one of the best if not the best deli I've ever been to. It's really hard to find authentic old school Italian delis nowadays so it's a very pleasant surprise to find one in an Irish neighborhood. When you walk in you see all the meats hanging from the ceiling and there's always fresh hot food made daily. All the food is outstanding from the Italian bread, antipasto salad, eggplant, meatballs, stuffed garlic knots, rice balls and pretty much anything else Italian that you can think of. Personally, I usually go with their Italian combo (they make it the real way) it's without a doubt the best in Yonkers. I frequent this place weekly and don't plan on stopping. If I could give them no stars I would ... I gave this place a try 2x and they have failed both times . They can not get an order right, are they doing it on purpose ... Don't bother loads of other areas to get food from in the neighborhood. read more
