This is a small authentic Italian delicatessen located on a very busy road on the border between Yonkers and the Bronx. Our Italian-American family comes here specifically for the handmade fresh mozzarella, which didn't disappoint, until recently. My parents had a bad experience about a month ago. They ordered, had the guy behind the counter bag it, paid and left. When they got home, anticipating that fresh and mouth watering mozzarella taste, they realized it was definitely NOT fresh. Maybe a fluke. Because they have been churning out fresh mozz for years! My wife enjoys the seafood salad behind the glass at the Deli counter. She claims it's the best in Yonkers. One can also buy Italian pantry goods here like, dry pasta, canned Italian imports and glassed Italian imports. Also frozen raviolis/meat/cheese/lobster/mushroom flavored are in the fridge. It's a busy deli especially around the holidays, so I suggest planning ahead; think Christmas/Easter. It's not cheap! But it's mostly good and authentic Italian based deli. I ordered and Italian Combo and brought it home for our teenaged son (13) and he DEVOURED IT!! You will pay high prices. But you will receive good customer service and high quality prepared Italian deli specialities. Buon Apetito! read more

Avitabile Deli - Delis Near Me - Yonkers, New York

Avitable is your classic Italian deli with great meats piled high on great bread. Making a solid sandwich. A perfect lunchtime place. Staff are great and service is fast with that classic Italian deli vibe. I had a fresh chicken cutlet, fresh Mozzarella, hot soppressata, roasted red peppers, and balsamic glaze on a hero. It was perfect so good I Lt didn't make it to the photo phase. read more

One of the few authentic Italian delis left in the city. Truly the value of this place is insane. Top quality ingredients for working class prices is unheard of these days especially in the most expensive city in the country. Will be my go to lunch spot for years to come. read more

Great flavors in all the sandwiches at this Italian deli. Order it the way you want it and they will make you happy.

I have been going to this deli for 25 years plus !!!!! The cold cuts are always fresh. The food that's prepared in the back is always delicious . Always a line when you are there . The owner Joe and his mamma are always so pleasant. Suck a great feeling when you go there and everyone knows you by your first name !! read more

That's Italian deli in South Yonkers or Woodlawn by 1000 miles grew up with it and it's still the best deli in the area

When I go there I get the roast beef on the hero out of this world delicious and the staff is always friendly highly recommended

Great eggplant and chicken parm. Fresh bread. Always crowded and workers are very nice.

Heard about this place and stopped in a couple of times. Sadly...I was disappointed each time. You order one thing but ya go home and you get another. Not nice. Not the correct way to run a deli. To keep it simple. Good food...Bad service. I felt it wasn't worth the wait. I don't know if there's a language barrier or they just don't care...but the people behind the counter simply aren't focused and I felt ignored. I will say it again-Good food...Bad service. read more

The best deli around no need to go to Arthur avenue their mozzarella competes with casa Della mozzarella almost identical the service is great to all workers have been there a long time and the owners are family oriented old school great prices too and the hot food is unreal read more

My favorite deli around. Food is delicious. Always a bunch of great options. Their salads are also good. Love their pasta salad. Bread is on point. And the service is excellent. All the workers are friendly and fast. PS I don't know why the pics are all piping. I'll add some pics later. read more

I simply cannot believe how good this place is! I need to go here every week for the rest of my life! Everything this counter-service deli serves is simply mind blowing!! I know it's a trek, but if you ever get up to north Bronx, do yourself a favor and cross right over into southern Westchester County to pick up some Italian amazingness from this place. You can't go wrong with anything here, but my favorites include the stuffed mushroom, rice balls, and Italian Stromboli (like an Italian sub stuffed in the most tasty bread crust you will ever eat)! The rice balls and Stromboli should be eaten with marinara, by the way... but that should be a given! I LOVE THIS PLACE! read more

Lived in this area all my life; 65 years. Avitabile was our go to since I've been married, 43 years, but no more. Wrong sandwich orders, and my Thanksgiving order was a mess with two items missing but included two others I didn't order. Everyone makes mistakes so I continued my tradition of ordering for Christmas Eve with a pickup on 2/22 to try and avoid the crowds. When I arrived, 15 minutes after my scheduled pick up time, some of my order was ready but some was not. While waiting, some rude "big shot" barged in, skipped the line that included a woman with a stroller and started barking orders while the staff was waiting on other customers. The final straw was when he accused a staff member of twice giving me his items and was wrong both times. All of this with the owner standing by wearing a mask that didn't cover his nose and ignoring it all. I'll never step foot in there again. Gianna's on Midland Ave and Avitabile on Yonkers Ave are both better options. Each is very well run and where I will take my business going forward. read more

I had expectations for such a deli but am very disappointed. The chicken cutlet hero was missing the roasted red peppers I ordered. Overall the hero tasted bland. The chicken, lettuce, tomatoes onions did not add any flavor to the oil vinegar, and black pepper. The meat was dry. read more

Fresh mozzarella is some of the best if not the best around. No joke. The sweetest Grandma in the kitchen she makes the best tripe. You got to try the Bocconcini salted read more

Good food. service could have been better. Went in and asked for a seeded hero Italian combo and he asked me to make sure I said seeded. Ended up with a non seeded hero. Also requested oil and vinegar. Ended up with none of that on it either. Disappointed. Ambiance was fine read more

I'd recommend this deli to anyone who loves Italian food. The fresh mozzarella is the best I've ever had. They hand pull the mozzarella curds on premises and it is absolutely delicious! I had their chicken parm and it was also delicious! read more

Top notch! Omg best mozzarella ever! Family owned deli. Hot food made by mom. You even see her walking around Great service. Great for catering parties. I'm a regular here. read more

Used to be my FAVORITE deli!! The best mozzarella, dried sausage, and sun dried tomatoes. Recently it's not the same. Still good but not great. Sun dried tomatoes taste like they're from shop rite. Hoping it's just a covid thing. read more

A really nice selection of Italian prepared food and ingredients. I've been working in the neighborhood the last few weeks and have really enjoyed the take out. The eggplant parm hero is one of the best I've had. The red sauce or as some in the know call "gravy" is darn good. The guys behind the counter are jovial and pleasant, in a very Bronx way (i.e. they joke around, if they like you they will bust your chops). Best Italian deli/ sandwich I've had in So. Yonkers. read more

Amazing Italian deli! I highly recommend their fresh mozzarella- delicious!

Best deli in Westchester by far. For the holidays the antipasti, we usually get are all the italian cold cuts plus dry sausage, sliced sweet soppresata, and salted bocaccini mozzarella. We ordered 2 3 foot heroes for Superbowl Sunday, one Italian combo and one chicken cutlet with roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella. One word.....AWESOME. We love their hot entrees as well. We enjoyed the chicken francese as well as others including sausage and peppers and eggplant parmigiana. read more

One of the best delis you'll ever set foot in anywhere in the country! Fresh food made daily, fantastic breads and home cooking

I kept meaning to preorder sandwiches and wings for a party and didn't get around to it until the day of the party. I went into the deli five hours before my party and they were able to accommodate my request of five large subs and a tray of wings. They were super accommodating and even offered to walk the subs to my apartment with me. I thought it was very reasonably priced and was pleasantly surprised when potato salad, macaroni salad, and coleslaw was included as well. Definitely would recommend and will be back soon. read more

This is the best for Italian cold cuts, bread and their hit food is fantastic! I highly recommend this deli it has fresh food and the service is great! read more

I look forward to Saturdays for the TRIPE! Delish!! I also compare all fresh mozzarella to theirs. So far none anywhere compare. NO WHERE!!! I love the way the cold cuts are sliced. The staff takes care to slice the prosciutto (and all cold cuts) paper thin, layering it carefully between butchers paper. FRESH BREAD! But really, the mozzarella is THE BEST!!! read more

Amazing chicken cutlets, mozzarella, hot food, everything is delicious and the prices are good. The last old school Italian deli I know of and bonus it's walking distance for me. read more

Love ordering sandwiches from here, never a disappointment. You can probably make the same sandwich yourself, but I don't know there's something about a quality deli sandwich that makes your tummy happy. read more

The food here is absolutely the best. We get takeout from here several times per week. Very friendly staff.

This may be one of the best if not the best deli I've ever been to. It's really hard to find authentic old school Italian delis nowadays so it's a very pleasant surprise to find one in an Irish neighborhood. When you walk in you see all the meats hanging from the ceiling and there's always fresh hot food made daily. All the food is outstanding from the Italian bread, antipasto salad, eggplant, meatballs, stuffed garlic knots, rice balls and pretty much anything else Italian that you can think of. Personally, I usually go with their Italian combo (they make it the real way) it's without a doubt the best in Yonkers. I frequent this place weekly and don't plan on stopping. If you never had lunch here you're truly missing out! read more

I wrote a review about this place a while back ago. I'll repeat again what I wrote since it was deleted. The food here is fresh; it not only taste fresh but it also looks fresh. Most of the food that I've tried are from the hot menu. However, I do find the prices to be quiet expensive. I also feel that the customer service there is more aimed towards non-colored customers. read more

Went last week and waited on line a Spanish guy came in and walked to the front of the line and spoke Spanish to an employee . He ordered his food while everyone waited their turn .. he was given a large portion of hot food ( twice the portion that I got and twice the meat ) .. so this is a good place if you know an employee and speak Spanish.. the chicken cutlet is stringy and not very good .. and they are overpriced ... read more
