Pastrami and rice sandwich, and a small, macaroni salad
    Sal E.

Walked in at noon and was next on line. Ordered pastrami on rye with mustard and a small macaroni salad. Done in a few minutes. The pictures that I took doesn't look like the sandwiches in their advertisement for Lang delicatessen. The sandwich was on the thin side, but it was very tasty, and the mustard was put on both sides of the bread. The macaroni salad was OK also. They do have a few tables for seating, but they were empty. Sal E. New Rochell

    Greek salad

I have been giving them a chance after chance. Today I ordered a Greek salad, what a mistake! Barely any chicken in it which I paid extra, old tomatoes and just awful taste. Just the worst. Thanks Lange's for ruining my lunch.

It's been a few months since I've been in, it seems different. Staff was friendly, but portions are MUCH smaller. I ordered a chicken salad wrap.. It looks like a junior wrap? Price wasn't different, so what gives? My son could eat this in 4 bites at most!! Fork shown in photo for comparison sake. Two bites taken out of one 1/2 wrap and the rest is just wrap!! Ughh! So frustrating!

Now THIS is a deli. Or a restaurant, or both. There is limited seating along the outside wall and chest high counters snd displays opposite. In fact the counters are do high, the servers carry your order out to you, a personal hand-off. Most of the customers on the long line which I joined, seemed to know the workers. Tipping seemed to be the norm, so I kept custom. Packed to the rafters, all seats taken, and a 15 minute wait all taken in stride. There is no sandwich known to mankind not offered, no salad yet invented not on display, and every conceivable grill or hot buffet food can also be obtained. You can sit and grab a full diner style breakfast if that's your desire, or load up on take-out. I was in the area and wanted a sandwich for lunch, and to grab some nibbles for the football game. The wings were meaty and tasty, they had my fav Deep River Maui Onion chips in small bags (grabbed 4) and my sandwich = grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers on a fresh roll was delish. Food & service were great. A role model for delis everywhere.

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

It was easy for all of us to walk in and out and the waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable. It was restaurant week which we were in aware of so we were pleasantly surprised as we were able to have a three course meal for not a bad price at all. I had French onion soup to start and I was very happy with my choice as it was very flavorful and had a ton of onions which I love when they leave in all of them when they serve it. My friends had clam chowder and calamari. I had a few calamari and was very happy with how fresh and crispy it was. They gave a nice portion on all three. As for my main course I had a a very nice size steak sandwich that were absolutely delicious. It came with hand cut French fries. I couldn't believe how good it was. I'm usually extremely picky and the steak was so tender and it melted it my mouth. The fries were killer good as well. For desert, I had bread pudding and that was wonderful as well. It came in a cream sauce and I was very happy with what I picked. All in all, I loved my meal and the time spent with my friends that I hadn't seen in almost a year. We had laughs and a very nice conversation and they did not rush us at all. I will definitely be back for some amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere to soak it up with.

The only reason I knocked down one star is because I noticed one of the workers be a little rude and mean to the others. Always curious about bakeries I haven't tried before, I was excited to check it out. Chantilly has odd hours; they're only open three days per week until 1pm and the good bakes tend to run out fast. They have a good selection of bakes, but we opted for their cookies - specifically the chocolate chip and the Nutella. The cookies were those big, cakey style ones that could easily be shared. The cookies were okay; I was struggling to find flavor in the chocolate chip. While it was the cakey style, it almost had a hard crust on top of it - it looked more like a muffin top than a cookie. There were lots of chocolate chips inside, but for some reason the flavor just wasn't hitting it for me. The Nutella cookie was slightly better, but I'm wondering if the Nutella was in the room with us because I couldn't find it. There was chocolate, and whole hazelnuts, but the filling inside didn't taste like Nutella to me. It was more so like a semisweet chocolate frosting. The flavor profile wasn't bad, and it was a decent chocolate cookie - it just didn't read Nutella to me. Overall, Chantilly was fine. I would be open to returning to explore more of their bakes, but think twice before getting more cookies.
