Fantastic afternoon tea at the Langham Hotel! We booked afternoon tea while staying at the hotel and didn't realize it was teddy bear tea (Christmas themed)! Decor: very festive with lots of holiday details including bright red bows and flowers. Menu offerings: scones, sandwiches, and variety of tea. Enjoyed each of item in every category! Might not seem like much, but I didn't even get to finish the petite fours (chocolates, pastries) as I as full from the scones and sandwiches. Will say it might be because we had the breakfast buffet just earlier that morning lol I wished they offered cold tea in addition to hot. Service was great, they were attentive but not overbearing. Overall, a great afternoon tea place. Delicious bites, tea, and ambiance!
We came here to kick off my mom's 80th birthday week with Afternoon Tea, and it was perfect! The service was friendly, welcoming and informative. The large tea room with large windows was the perfect setting on a November afternoon. The tea itself was great, and the sandwiches were delicious. The harpist even played "Happy Birthday" for my mom, and I love how she played familiar songs as well. The experience was very pleasant.
I consider myself quite the Tea connoisseur, enthusiast, and steepster (insert cheeky laugh). We had made reservations through OpenTable to try this place out some time ago. Upon arrival, be prepared to valet your car. The lovely entrance welcomes you to a special day.. It's the perfect setting for your Afternoon Tea. Tables down in the (I call it) Solarium portion of the Lobby Lounge are made up of the traditional 2 or 4 tops - combining a couch with 2 chairs and your Afternoon Tea spread placed on a coffee table. Excellent scones - moist and never crumbled when we spread the lemon curd and clotted cream on them. I would say the sandwiches were perfect! The bread was so soft, and the fillings were plentiful. My favorite was, by far, the Chicken Salad. They prepare Tea Leaves (out of Canada) Tea OMG!!! the Vanilla Earl Grey and the Thunderbolt Darjeeling has always been my favorite from Tea Leaves and I was so happy to see it here. I'm excited to return! Respectfully Reviewed.
I am frankly really annoyed about my tea experience in the lobby lounge. For the amount of money I paid, I was expecting a lot more. The rates that they're charging for this are outrageous and that's exactly why I'm giving them a 3 rating for this because they're being greedy. Charging what they're charging for a few finger sandwiches, desserts scones, and tea is outrageous. While they tasted good, it is not worth this amount. And I have done teatime in New York City, Chicago, and London. While it was an experience, it's not an experience that I'm going to repeat at this location. I wish that I had paid more attention to other people's reviews and saved my money and gone elsewhere. Also including a gratuity and then expecting a gratuity on top of that is just really ripping people off .
Came here for afternoon tea. The views on the property are quite beautiful, hotel itself is historic, it has a certain regalness to it that really draws locals in and the neighborhood is just lovely. The tea experience itself was mediocre and overly priced. Not sure what I would expect $100 per person to experience to be like but I guess you're paying for the ambiance? The tea wasn't particularly special itself. Pastries were standard, desserts were underwhelming, sandwiches were decent, overall just mediocre. Service overall was decent but it was annoying to have to wave down our server several times because she was chatting with other servers. Don't plan on coming here for the actual afternoon tea and expect to be wow'd. It's really more for the "fancy" experience I might be remembering it wrong but parking was $16 after validation from the Tea Room
Probably the best all in all high tea experience in the Los Angeles area. Nestled in the Langham Hotel in Pasadena this is truly a beautiful venue. Hotel is valet only and for customers it is discounted at $15. It's still a good amount but for a 5 star hotel I think it's fair. The lounge is pretty but the tea room really blew us away. Huge window panels to lookout into the garden, this is one of the most beautiful places to have afternoon tea. Do note that it's only open Thursday to Sunday and most hey reservations ahead of time. Easily done with opentable. There is a $50 dollar cancellation fee per person. There's a good selection of teas to choose from and between the 4 of us we were given 2 tea choices, we were able to change to different ones on the second round which was nice. My favorites of the tea were the egg salad and the cucumber sandwiches. Scones are so fluffy and chocolate chip ones were delicious. The butter is pre melted which is a really nice touch. Highlight was the dessert, the almond poppy financier was truly addicting. I wish I can buy a box of these just to take home. The gold leaf on top adds a nice, fancy touch. Must visit if you're a lover of the British tea experience.
Food was not esthetically pleasant....didn't match any of the photos online. If I'm paying $90 per person plus tax and tip, the least they can do is make it pretty to match the theme. Service was slow. We ended up asking for the tea pots to be left on the table so we can refill our own cups. We paid a hefty price tag to eat 1/2 a sandwich and taste a few aweful desserts. The tea was not loose leaf, they were tea bags. We will NOT be back!
The hotel itself was stunning, but unfortunately afternoon tea at the Lobby Lounge was extremely disappointing. There were different tiers of afternoon tea you could choose from. Obviously the more expensive ones included bubbles and additional items, and nicer teapots apparently. We opted for the $79/pp one which included your choice of tea, scones, tea sandwiches, and desserts. For tea, we opted for the early grey and the oolong. We were served cinnamon sugar & cranberry scones with lemon curd, devonshire cream, and fruit jams. For sandwiches, there was an assortment: chicken salad, smoked salmon, curried egg salad, prosciutto, cucumber, and jambon beurre. None of these were particularly amazing and I didn't like the bread they used. For the desserts, we were given opera cake, raspberry napoleon, vanilla pate a choux, and an earl grey madeleine. Meh. To differentiate between teas, we noticed they wrote the initials of the name of the tea with marker on the tea pot itself which was a bit tacky imo. They should find another way to differentiate between pots. Our server would also pour our tea up to the brim which left us with no room for cream. We'd constantly have to sip a little to make room. We ultimately ended up refusing the refills and just did it ourselves.. Glad we tried tea here, but unfortunately we won't be back. One thing that stood out was the cute pink to go boxes, but that's it. Afternoon tea at the Huntington or the Peninsula is way better.
Stayed at The Langham for a couple of days and decided to reserve their Afternoon Tea for my wife and I. Beautiful hotel and enjoyed the pool before our reservation and when we got to the Lobby Bar they had moved the tea experience to the restaurant next door because of a wedding. They gave us a nice window seat in the corner and server was great in explaining the tea varieties. The tea sandwiches and desserts were excellent. Overall it was a decent experience but after we got back to the room and reviewed our check I just realized they included gratuity and I had given tip as usual. Surprised to see that gratuity was included even though there was just two of us. Would have been appropriate if the servers would have mentioned that when they brought the check. So just be aware that gratuity is automatic but overall it was an ok experience and the ambiance might have been better in the Lobby Bar.
Finally got a chance to try high tea at the Langham Hotel. A little disappointed by the experience. I had such high expectations. But it was a bit of a let down. Here is my review: 10/10 Ambience - definitely a beautiful venue with stunning view of Pasadena. 6/10 Food - the sandwiches were just alright. The bread was a little too thick and a bit dry. Taste wasn't great. The desserts were good and presentation was nice. The scones and the clotted cream were the tastiest. And the tea was a bit lackluster and not that great. And we did not like the fact that not everyone in the party can have their own pot of tea and every 2 people in your party had to share a pot. The selection of black tea was also very limiting. 5/10 Service - our food was really slow to come out. We waited almost 30 minutes for the scones and tier of sandwiches and sweets to come out. And I noticed other guests who arrived way after us received their food before us. Also, the server would not leave the pot of tea at our table. but we would wait very long to have our cup of teas refilled so we ended up having to get up and grab the pot of tea ourselves to fill our cups. For the price we were paying and for such a swanky place, we expected better service. Also, we all requested glasses of water besides tea and the water only came halfway through our meal. We had to request water 2x. Only saving grace was the fact that the manager was willing to switch out one of our tea pots because we didn't like the tea. We did appreciate that accommodation. But overall, disappointed with the service or lack of. This place is definitely a "one and done" experience for me for high tea. There are far better places to have tea. This place received 3 stars from me only because of the beautiful ambience and fact that the manager was willing to let us change one of our tea section. Otherwise, the review would have only been a 2 star...
My girlfriends and I came to The Langham Huntington for an afternoon tea to celebrate Galentine's Day on a Sunday. The ambiance was elegant and cozy. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Our server took the time to go over the menu and was able to substitute sandwiches for ones that better suited for our tastes. The scones were warm and flaky, sandwiches were savory, and desserts were cute and tasty. Also, you can pick 3 types of tea per table. I believe they only have valet parking, and the Lobby Lounge will validate parking for a discounted price of $15. The whole experience was great, but it was a bit pricey for the amount of food. Royal tea is $109 per person and noble tea is $99 per person. Overall, it's a really cute place to spend time with your girlfriends.
Pasadena, A 2023 highlight in review. This tea room was closed for several years for renovation and I'm so pleased it has reopened. I did not realize how much I had missed it until I returned. We made a stop in a few months ago, it was just as nice and possibly better than I ever remembered it to be. You know when you haven't had a favorite experience in a while and then you try it again and you remember all of the contributing reasons as to why you enjoyed it so much? I thought I previously reviewed this beautiful tea room which I have frequented dozens of times over the years. A highlight of our recent visit was seeing Jenny, a long time employee who is so gracious and kind and provides excellent service. The food for the tea service is prepared by a classically trained French Executive Chef, Denis Depoitre. The Chef has a European flare with a Farmers Market driven approach and attention to detail, everything was just fantastic. The scones were so creamy, light flaky and decadent, with the classic Devonshire cream, lemon curd and jams served alongside. You could eat the house made lemon curd by the spoon, it is so addicting! The tea sandwiches were exquisitely prepared and tasted fantastic. They were happy to double up on some of our favorites. We ordered scones, tea, and a plate of sandwiches for two a la cart and opted not to go for desserts for this particular visit. The tea was brewed to perfection. Our experience was quite relaxing and enjoyable, having tea and listening to live harp music on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate a special occasion. I have many special memories of celebrations here with loved ones, and we were able to create wonderful new memories on this most recent visit as well. It truly was a highlight to see Jenny who has been part of so many of our celebrations here over the years through her excellent and gracious service, she actually brought a smile to my face and tears to my eyes as we reminisced. The property of the Langham Hotel is so beautiful, it's always lovely to take a stroll after tea. Highly recommended. Valet Parking. Make a reservation to treat yourself for a special event or just a nice relaxing afternoon.
I'll start right off by saying that I am an afternoon tea kind of girl. I remember my first time going to a formal high tea with my family as a young girl, at the long-shuttered Compass Rose tea room at the St. Francis hotel in San Francisco's Union Square (it closed in 2004). Everything about that first tea service was mesmerizing: The suited waiters and their formal manners, the little metal strainers we were given to use with the loose-leaf tea, and of course, the lovely china. Not to mention the beautiful marble walls and floors. Since then, as an adult, I've become something of a high tea aficionado. I've now had high tea in London, NYC, SF, and all over Southern California, from traditional to super edgy and modern. How does the Langham's high tea stack up, you may wonder? Perhaps we were there on an off day, but truthfully, the tea service was a letdown. I went with my mother in mid-October 2024. Generally, we had a fine experience; the tea was nice, though not exceptional. The decor was lovely, and the harp music was wonderful. But other elements during our visit were sorely lacking. The service: It was slow and inattentive from the moment we walked in. First, despite having a reservation at 1:30, we were kept waiting for our table until nearly 1:50. I understand that kind of thing at a trendy restaurant, but at high tea on a Sunday? Once we were finally seated and our order was taken, we relaxed as the scones and tea arrived. The scones were seasonal (one was cranberry, one was apple cinnamon), and the tea - a Darjeeling - was very nice. The waitress said that she'd be right back with our clotted cream and lemon curd, plus cream for my tea at my request. But 15 minutes later, we were still waiting as our tea got cold and we nibbled at our bare scones. Finally, we managed to flag our waitress down as she frantically rushed past us, not looking in our direction. I reminded her politely that we were still waiting for our clotted cream and lemon curd, and she blurted, "I know." But then she caught herself and looked somewhat mortified, and said she'd be right back with it - and out it (finally) came. After finally receiving the lemon curd and cream, we settled in and listened to the lovely harp music. But then we noticed that we'd been sitting quite a while. Where were our sandwiches and petit fours? Our waitress returned again to mumble an apology for how long the kitchen was taking to bring out our food, and offered to bring out free non-alcoholic sparkling hibiscus beverages to placate us (which largely worked!) When the tower finally arrived, the finger sandwiches and petit doors looked very pretty and tasted fine, but I'd had more inventive and unique offerings at high tea. Our particular tea service also included a glass of sliced strawberries with pink Chantilly cream, which was brought out at the end of the service. It looked both beautiful and mouthwatering, and we had eyed our neighbors enjoying this concoction as we were being led to our table. But to our surprise and disappointment, the Chantilly cream was really unappetizing. My mom thought the texture was like Crisco - heavy and oily - but I thought it tasted more like the excess frosting you might scrape off of a slice of supermarket birthday cake. In a word: Yuck. We did our best to eat around it and just enjoy the strawberries. (Note to the kitchen: It would have been a better choice to simply serve the strawberries with freshly-whipped cream that had been lightly sweetened). While the overall experience of our tea service wasn't awful - for example, the live harp music and surroundings were lovely - the inattentive and slow service was just inexcusable. And while the food components were fine, I had been "wowed" by other high teas recently, and the Langham's didn't quite stack up against them. Do better next time, Huntington! **Note: The Huntington somehow got Yelp to remove this review the last time I posted it, claiming I hadn't actually dined there. The Langham was previously the Ritz Carlton and it's really disappointing for me to write this review that the quality of the establishment has deteriorated. I came here for afternoon tea for a bridal shower. The Lobby Lounge is quite small and I guess the original seating is cozy and quaint. However, we were a party of eight and they put us in the dark with dim lighting in the middle of the space. The sister of the bride did notify the manager that this was a bridal shower so it was appalling that they would set us up with such a poor table. It was dim and dark and you wouldn't even realize it was in the middle of the day in southern California. We had to ask the host to put us with the regular tables where natural light could come in. What was also surprising was the fact that there were flies inside the Lobby Lounge. I had to constantly shoo the flies away from our finger sandwiches and desserts. This was completely unacceptable. For the premium price that was paid we did not get the quality that was expected. read more

Came here with a friend. I thought the food selection was perfection. The scones (two each, two different flavors) were warm and fluffy. Plenty of sandwiches, and each one was delicious. I also enjoyed the dessert selection. It was the perfect amount of food and I did not leave hungry. But the big letdown was the tea itself. My god, how hard is it to brew an actual pot of tea, especially when you are paying over $90 per person ($75 plus mandatory 20% gratuity) and, short of that, at least be generous enough with the teabags so that you are drinking something actually resembling, you know, tea? Revolutions have been started for less. My first cup of "tea" was milk- and sugar-flavored hot water. Second cup was tea-stained milk- and sugar-flavored hot water. I never got an actual cup of tea that tasted like tea, and my selection was English breakfast, which is arguably the most strongly "tea-like" of all the tea possibilities, being a "brisk" black tea. Also, the teapots are mysteriously placed somewhere out of sight and inaccessible behind you, so you have to wait for your server to come refill your cup, which she was pretty diligent about, but the cups are very small, smaller than a regular teacup size, and no one moves that fast. This was the first time my girlfriends and I came here with our little girls for the Teddy Bear Tea and it was a cute Christmas experience. We each got a plate of mixed sandwiches, a scone, cookies and mixed desserts. Kids get a cup of hot chocolate and adults can get tea and champagne. Kid's price was $42 and adult was $52. After lunch, there was storytelling, puppet show and pictures with Santa. The girls each get a teddy bear from Santa. We all enjoyed the Teddy Bear Tea. read more

This was my first experience with afternoon tea and I must say that it was amazing for a myriad of reasons. The staff was attentive, professional, considerate and made the experience one of a kind. Luis and staff were very patient and were so kind as to explain the menu and tea selection to our party. The views are incredible (request a table by the windows- you're welcome) and the grounds are perfect for a walk and pictures! If you are unsure of which tea you want to select there is an area for you to smell all the teas that are offered which was very convenient. I would definitely recommend this tea room for any occasion, especially treating yourself! I am glad that I got to celebrate my birthday here and will be returning as soon as possible. read more

What a treat going to the Lobby Lounge for tea was for us! We were sat by Shereen who also took our tea order. She was so pleasant and made us feel welcome. My sister ordered everything because she has been there before. The cherry scones with freshly made Devonshire cream stole my heart, I think I ate 3 . The sandwich's were delightful, thank you to the chef! My favorite was the salmon wit caviar, my daughter loved the egg salad with micro greens. Jenny and Fiona poured our tea and come often to make sure we were comfortable. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the old entrance, which is stunning. Luis the manager stopped by to ask us how we were enjoying ourselves, we definitely were the fruit tart cup was my favorite dessert, but I loved them all. Will be back to enjoy another tea, brunch, and hospitality here. read more

The Sunday afternoon tea service was the perfect experience in every single way, much in thanks to the amazing staff. If you have want to celebrate any kind of occasion and be treated like VIPs without even booking a room, please make your way over here! Their consideration, courtesy, professionalism, and individual attention to our wants and needs throughout the entire two hours was the dictionary definition of hospitality. Thank you especially to Luis and Jenny for making this experience as memorable and wonderful as it was! The sandwiches and pastries (ESP the scones) were delicious, and the tea itself was excellent. The service (constantly refilled our teacups no less) and the views of the beautiful grounds were what took this experience from a treat to a complete pampering. Came to celebrate my friend's birthday and we had a blast! Beautiful lounge area with beautiful views overlooking the gardens. High tea is $46 per person which includes 5 sandwiches, 7 pieces of desserts, 2 scones and 3 choices of tea! Pretty presentation! read more

I have dined at many afternoon tea places before and this is by far my most favorite. The other locations just can't compare to the elegant ambience, high quality of the food and tea, and the breathtaking view of the Langham garden. No other afternoon tea places will be able to give you the ballroom feel especially since this is located in the Langham hotel. My friends brought me here for my birthday celebration and it was one of my most memorable celebration. The room is so classic/antique look with a fancy feel. I felt like a classy lady when i walked into the lounge. I recommend making an early reservation at 11 am so you can choose a spot to sit. There are 2 tables which are faced right next to the window for the gorgeous view of the garden. These 2 tables are the best view to the garden. My friends and I overall had such good time catching up while we get to enjoy each other's company over good food and a phenomenal garden view. The menu selection is $46 per person ($21 per child) which comes with 5 sandwiches (chicken salad, watercress pesto marinated shrimp, smoked salmon, ham and egg, and picked saffron radish), 7 pieces of desserts (Earl grey tiramisu gateau, passion apricot cone, creme brûlée tart, french macaroons, chocolate praline mousse cup, guava cream cheese gateau, coffee tart with candied nut, and cream puffs), 2 scones (chocolate chip and chocolate marble), and 3 choices of tea. We didn't have to wait long before the food was served on a beautiful 3 tier tray. Everything was so delicious. The best way to eat is to start from the bottom and work your way up to the top of the tier. I loved how they did offer a lot of food and left that for $46 it was worth the overall experience and food. For a party of 5, we were allowed to order 3 different tea for us to share. The tea menu was a more limited compared to other afternoon tea places. We ordered the ginger and lemon, vanilla rooibos, and peach with flowers tea. My favorite tea was the vanilla rooibos. I love the floral with a vanilla aroma. All the tea can be served with brown sugar cubes, honey, and milk. I really enjoyed being pampered since the server stopped by pretty often to check us and pour the tea for all of us. They can also refill the tea for you so your tea stays hot. The celebration ended with a special birthday dessert with candle! It was so a delightful treat!! i loved my intimate celebration and was so grateful for my bonding time with my fiends. Overall, it was a 5 star experience on food, ambience, and customer service. read more

I am writing this review based on Sunday tea service. I love Langham for the tap room, the terrace brunch, the Royce. All were great and great service. But I bought a group of friends for afternoon tea as they really wanted to try after trying the restaurants. I kinda already had a pre existing notion that tea sets are mediocre and therefore haven't tried in years After this visit I don't think I can come back and try again. SUNDAY tea came with a beautiful chocolate fondue fountain dessert buffet. It's very pretty and dessert were sweet. Sandwiches were mediocre. Salmon has no taste. Shrimp has no taste. Desserts that came with the set has no taste. Scone was ok because we used the jam spreads. I hope regular teas are better? I've tried other teas elsewhere and this by far isn't impressive. Service and location is lovely. read more

Made a last minute reservation for afternoon tea today. It was an amazing experience. Customer service was outstanding! From the valet greet to departure. Just lovely! I think I can live on the main lobby. It smells so divine. There's a choice of traditional and another one with champaign. I opted for the traditional... Not trying to turn up on a Tuesday afternoon. I ordered the orange jasmine tea and it was so delicious! It's $39 for the traditional with a choice of tea. If you're there with a friend you can split the traditional. It'll be $15/head. I got a traditional and split it amongst 3 people and it was perfect. Valet parking available and also complimentary when you get validation. I still tipped though. read more

The Langham Hotel is a classy and extravagant business, located in the rich neighborhood of South Pasadena. With its grandiose decor, it can be said that the afternoon tea at the Lobby Lounge is just as beautiful. I took my sister to get the full-blown experience of afternoon tea, and I thought that this place would be great for it. I heard about this place from a friend who did afternoon tea for her birthday here. We both really enjoyed the elegance of the furniture of the room, accompanied with the classical music. It felt very authentic, as if we were set back decades and drinking tea with the queen. They also played some songs from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker," which I was happy about because "The Nutcracker" is my favorite! Anyways, on with the food. We did the traditional Tiffin tea time, which comes with a pot of tea per person (fills about 6-8 cups of tea), a selection of sandwiches, scones, and desserts. It is tiered as follows (top to bottom): desserts, sandwiches, then scones and bread. Desserts - checkerboard cookie, passion apricot cone, creme brulee tart, peach macaron, chocolate white cafe torte, strawberry pistachio gateau, chocolate raspberry financier cupcake Sandwiches - cucumber and watercress with mascarpone mousse and crispy shallots on squaw bread, asian pear with blue cheese mousse and toasted pistachios on potato bread (topped with a slice of raspberry), smoked salmon with caramelized shallot caper cream on a profiterole (topped with a dill sprig and caviar), egg and proscuitto de parma with green onion and red pepper on potato peppercorn bread, and watercress pesto marinated caribbean shrimp with cilantro and lemon zest on herb garlic bread Scones & bread - orange cranberry tea bread, cranberry scone, raisin scone (served with lemon curd and devonshire cream) Favorites: Both my sister and I enjoyed the smoked salmon sandwich and the pesto shrimp sandwich. Those were our top two. I enjoyed the cranberry scone, while my sister liked the raisin one. The passion apricot cone was our top favorite. I also liked the creme brulee tart and the chocolate white cafe torte. Not yummy: I was definitely not a fan of the Asian pear sandwich. It just didn't sit right with me. The peach macaron was not that appealing to me as well. Although it had the right textures of the crunchy outside shell and chewy inside, the macaron had no peach flavor at all. It tasted like pure sugar. The service was average. They were exceptionally attentive at the beginning; however, towards the end it took a while to just get someone to bring in the bill. Environment: This place is absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. The flowers were blooming in March and it was just so beautiful everywhere. Service: Inattentive for sure. I rarely saw my waitress (yes, 1 waitress). She was really nice though. :) We went on the Monday and they don't have the chocolate tea because that was a Sunday thing. $46 per person, $15 for sharing if don't order per person The Savory: Chicken Salad w/Orange and Cranberry on White Bread (4/5): No much expectation but was impressed. Shrimp was crisp and fresh Smoked Salmon on Sourdough w/Caramelized Shallot Caper Cream, Dill Sprig & Caviar (4.5/5): I love smoked salmon and this is a hit. Ham & Egg, Prosciutto di Parma, Green Onion, Red Pepper on Potato Peppercorn Bread (4/5): Really yum. Not a fan of hard boiled egg but this is something I can tolerate :) Pickled Saffron Radish, Watercress & Dill Cream on white bread (3/5): Creative. But weird. Scones (3/5): Mediocre. Has a buttery aftertaste. The Sweets: (There are less items than listed on the menu?) Passion Apricot Cone (3.5/5): This was sour. Creative. But wish the flavor could be better Creme Brûlée Tart (3.5/5): Room for improvement because the tart was soft. Was expecting something a little crisp. The creme brûlée was orange flavored...hmmm.... Dark Chocolate Macaron (4.3/5): Rich and yummy Chocolate Praline Mousse Cup (4/5): It was really smooth. Rich in chocolate flavor Guava Cream Cheese Gateau (4.5/5): Loved the taste of guava! i have tried tea at different CA locations, Shakespeare shop, the rose room, Grand del mar, The london at the west hollywood, i know afternoon tea people! I loved everything about this visit to Pasadena. Beautiful setting, exquisite food and service. I wish i lived closer so i could go back, everyone we interacted with was nice and professional. The tea was delicious, Patty was awesome. Valet is free but of course a tip is accepted, take a walk in the Japanese garden and check out the grounds. read more

The Lobby lounge is probably one of the best places I have ever been to. Luis and his entire team are amazing! They were so welcoming and made our day feel very special. The selection of teas are smooth and flavorful. It was ample enough to please different tastes buds.The quality of the ingredients were obvious with everything we tasted.Even though the food was just bite size we definitely left happy and satisfied. I truly had a memorable experience when Luis and his beautiful team went above and beyond to recognize my birthday! The level of service was impeccable. My friend had wanted to go have tea and she said we should go have tea at the Langham. I made us a reservation and off we went. We arrive at the hotel and the valet was extremely backed up. It seemed as if they did not have enough people working. We had waited about 5 minutes before we were able to leave the keys. Once you enter the hotel it is very elegant the hallways you walk down are very beautiful. We were seated promptly and we looked over the menu to see what kind of tea we would try. The foods comes out very quickly. This is where I was not overly impressed. The sweet options they gave is way to much over the savory sandwiches. I was bummed that our tier of food did not come with cucumber sandwiches. The bread that the sandwiches were on was very dry. It was like they prep all the sandwiches and just leave it out so they can bring the tray out that much sooner. The only one that had good flavor was the saffron radish. The desserts were good but way to sweet. The scones were even sweet. At the end we were in a sugar coma. The view from the tea lounge is pretty. Would I come back? Probaly not. Seems very expensive for what you get. As we walked out the valet had the same problem under staffed we stood around waiting for out car to come out. A girl walked by and asked us for our number we told her and she disappeared. As time goes by the car does not even get brought up to us and the valet is yelling the color and make of the car. We have to walk to the other side of the valet. I know it's not far but still very disappointing. read more

I made reservations for a group of 7 and they were very accommodating and took the time to explain everything on the phone, especially when I had to add one more and when I had questions about the menu options. We went on Sunday so the only choice was the afternoon tea with the chocolate fountain for dessert at around $60 per person. I love afternoon tea, but unfortunately, the tea experience is just not up to par with the rest (in comparison with Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, the Ritz, etc.). First of all, I was unsure where to check in as there is no hostess stand/counter. Then, after we sat down, we had multiple people asking us about a beverage. We politely explained we already told the first waitress. This indicates there was little communication between staff. Finally, I had a gift card that I gave to a waiter halfway through the meal, and this was not applied before the check came to the table. I had to explain that I had given a staff member a gift card first. For a place of such reputation I was expecting more professionalism and attention to detail. Of less importance was that we were not given a proper rundown of the menu because we were waiting for the food at the table until finally someone explained we could get the chocolate desserts while we waited. On to the food. First of all, it took a while. I think more than half an hour. I know it's afternoon tea and thus at a slow pace but we wanted to eat the savory before the sweet so we were waiting. But MOST importantly, the sandwiches were dry! The cucumber one was so uninspired too. I was expecting more and sorely disappointed. The chocolate scone was ok but the other was dry. On the other hand, the tea was exceptional and we enjoyed all three-- especially the truffle and the Moroccan Mint. I cannot recommend this experience to others given the service we received. read more

I have dined in many tearooms in Los Angeles and Orange County and my afternoon tea with two friends here today was fantastic. First of all, the ambiance is wonderful. The Langham is a gorgeous hotel property and they serve tea in their beautiful lounge area with views of the lawns. A soloist played piano interpretations of contemporary pop songs, which was a nice added touch. So before I even took a sip or bite of anything, I knew I was in for a treat. Second, the food and tea selections were delicious. My favorites were the prosciutto and egg sandwich, the pesto shrimp sandwich, the creme brûlée tart, the strawberry cream puff, and the English Flower Blend tea. My only complaint is that I wished the scones were heated before they were served, like they are at several other tearooms. Third, the service was top notch. I never felt like our party was neglected - the food was served promptly enough, and my tea cup and water glass were frequently refilled. Nor did I feel like our waiter hovered or was too intrusive. She was perfectly courteous and professional. The price tag is higher than what other tearooms charge (about $50 with no alcoholic beverage and no gratuity included, and valet parking is $5 after validation) but I felt like I truly got my money's worth. I highly recommend tea at the Langham for a special occasion. read more

First class all the way! Came to celebrate my birthday in style on a Thursday afternoon at the Lobby Lounge at the Langham Hotel and I must say it was divine! As soon as I came into the driveway, the valet was cordial and quickly parked my car after taking down some details. He also told me about getting my valet ticket validated by our waitress at the Lobby Lounge ($5 valet parking-score!). The hotel grounds are beautiful and everything is clean and pristine. We walked into the main lobby and were directed to the lobby lounge, which is opposite the hotel lobby and has a nice courtyard in between the hotel and lobby lounge. We were seated right away in the lobby lounge and were given menus and tea recommendations from our servers. I had the palm court tea and my mother had the lemon and ginger tea. There's a live pianist playing contemporary music which was a nice touch! Our tier of treats contained scones, finger sandwiches and sweets-all which were delish and yummy! The service was fabulous-our servers made sure we had everything we needed and even stopped by to fill up our tea cups! I truly felt like Lady Mary from Downton Abbey LOL! Only suggestion I have is to expand the tea selection-perhaps add more chai teas and herbal teas (lavender please!). The total came out to $110 with tax and tip for 2 people, which was a bit of a splurge but I've been wanting to come here for a while, so it was definitely worth it. If you're in the area, check it out! Just make sure to make a reservation by phone or on their website! read more
