Dude working there in the front stared at me when I walked in like he had never seen a human before. I go downstairs to check it out and realized I needed to ring the bell to get into the vault for any decent liquor. It wasn't just top shelf, it was basically everything but wine and mixers locked up. I rang the bell....waited. I rang the bell again.....waited. I finally go upstairs to get some help and he tells me he LOST the key to the vault. it's just a padlock on a chain and you lose the key and turn away business. I had been there waiting nearly 20 minutes and this now comes up. Ridiculous and I will never recommend anyone go here.

In my opinion, crown has a wide selection of quality, distilled spirits, at what I find to be reasonable prices. It is possible to find unique and interesting items at their stores. It is a chain, and they do have a robust searchable website presence. The staff are generally very helpful. So, if there is something in particular, you're looking for, and can't find it at a crown liquor location you're visiting just ask. Often the staff will be able to recommend another location and perhaps even be able to check with staff at that other location to see if the alternative store has what you're looking for.

Before walking off with a bottle, the kind man behind the counter offered a little taste, because he had just opened a bottle. They will give you little sips of some of the things they have open, if you're curious about something new that you've never tried before. SoBro Spirits has got a lotta bourbon and whiskey, and in fact, I would say this is one of the better places to find bourbon in Indy. The wine section is fine but not the largest, although what they do have seems well curated and thoughtful. All around the store, you will see shopping baskets full of random bottles of discounted wine, beer and other alcohol. It was kind of fun to paw through the baskets and try to find a cheap treasure. Along with the Canadian whiskey, I walked away with a nice Rioja and a rose for a steep discount. This liquor store is located close to the Monon Trail, so it's easy to get to via bike or walking.

Store is really well kept and looks beautiful coming in, but obviously the focal point is the alcohol. The people there are always very helpful. I had two people stop by and ask if they could help me out in different sections of the store, and they walked by and did the same to everybody that was looking and didn't seem to have found what they were looking for.

I asked him what wines he liked, and he said, "I always like a good New Zealand Sau Bla." Fortunately I knew that was bartender for Sauvignon Blanc, so the next day I headed to the Kahn's web site, shopped a little, and picked out one from the Marlborough region, feeling pretty confident about my choice thanks to the description on the Kahn's web site. I ordered it online, went in to pick it up, and even was able to get a nice gift bag on site. Thank you, Kahn's! When I gave it to him, he literally gushed. It turns out he had bought that himself several years ago, and liked it so well that his restaurant served it for about a year. I had definitely struck gold! Thank you, Kahn's, for making the whole experience very easy for me, and a positive one for him!

Needless to say, when I walked in and looked at the bottles on sale, I was very disappointed. There was a small selection of liquor on sale that was the warehouse closeout on one side of the store, and it was not that impressive. I did end up getting a nice Kentucky bourbon small barrel whiskey for a great price, and some non alcoholic beer for Super Bowl Sunday. This is an outdated old liquor store that is not like other 21st Amendment stores that I have been to before. The selection of beer is Ok, but not impressive. The liquor selection is Ok, and the wine selection is mediocre. The staff are not that helpful and appear to be bored and not interactive, so if you need assistance or have questions, you are out of luck. I would not come back here again personally just because the selection of products is mediocre and not really worth the time to spend looking for a bottle of liquor or beer. The staff are in their own little world and not available to help at a moment's notice, so that alone tells me not to come back here again. It is a decent liquor store for what it is, but just not up to quality standards. You can take it or leave it.

I was so exited to get there and ask if they happen to have any because iI wanted to get it as a present for someone. But talk about horrible customer service, the employee behind the counter said that they don't have any and even if they did they only give it to their preferred customers. He explained there is a waitlist, which I would've loved to get on! But then he kept going. He said he wouldn't sell it to just anyone because he don't know who is going to sell it on the internet for a higher price. First of all don't assume you know me or why I'm purchasing a bottle that I normally wouldn't and what the heck kind of service is that?! Bottles are great present and f I knew this bottle would be so difficult I wouldn't be looking for it, but I like a challenge. I asked for help finding the club soda and they continuously pointed randomly around the room (and each time there was nothing there). Finally, they made the effort to help me and found that they only option they had was randomly placed on the top shelf (required a ladder). 3.) The cherry on top, you ask? Their mini club soda bottles were wrongly labeled and rang up at $1.50/mini bottle. Needless to say, I wasn't about to spend $9 on 6 mini bottles of club soda and they didn't seem to want to come up with a plan B way of selling it to me. Had the customer service been better, I would be more likely to give this place four stars for convenience (located along the Cultural Trail and close to home).
