It was built in 1894 to function as a more permanent home for the Indiana Dental College (IDC). For a couple of decades, this was the spot where the city's dentists trained before the school was acquired by Indiana University and moved to its current location several blocks west to the campus of IU Indianapolis. The structure was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

So, if there is something in particular, you're looking for, and can't find it at a crown liquor location you're visiting just ask. Often the staff will be able to recommend another location and perhaps even be able to check with staff at that other location to see if the alternative store has what you're looking for.

They will give you little sips of some of the things they have open, if you're curious about something new that you've never tried before. SoBro Spirits has got a lotta bourbon and whiskey, and in fact, I would say this is one of the better places to find bourbon in Indy. The wine section is fine but not the largest, although what they do have seems well curated and thoughtful. All around the store, you will see shopping baskets full of random bottles of discounted wine, beer and other alcohol. It was kind of fun to paw through the baskets and try to find a cheap treasure. Along with the Canadian whiskey, I walked away with a nice Rioja and a rose for a steep discount. This liquor store is located close to the Monon Trail, so it's easy to get to via bike or walking.

The website indicated that they had it in stock, so I asked a worker for help. Unfortunately, he was unhelpful and made me feel like I was bothering him, so I continued searching on my own. After some time looking on my own, I asked another employee, who was much more helpful. He took the time to check and explained that they were likely out of stock and that the online inventory isn't always accurate. He also mentioned how popular the pretzels are and that they sell out quickly--even he buys several when they come in. My husband was also looking for a small bottle of Cointreau, but they were out of that as well. I decided to try another flavor of the pretzels - Sweet and Sparky. These were good, had a spice to them with the buffalo flavoring. These bags are priced at $6.49. I'd like to eventually try the other flavors, including the one I was looking for. This visit was hit-or-miss in terms of customer service and item availability.

I find it hard to stay within budget when shopping at Parti-Pak. I'm slowly perusing the shelves...then gasp...a Mikkelller, Stillwater or Prairie ale I haven't seen before! I wants it, I needs it...must have the precious! There is almost an entire aisle of Belgium and French ales only, if you're into imports. Parti-Pak also allows you to customize 6-packs out almost anything you want, so you get to explore more beers than you typically would. They also have Underberg near the check-out counter, another perk in my book. There was a small selection of liquor on sale that was the warehouse closeout on one side of the store, and it was not that impressive. I did end up getting a nice Kentucky bourbon small barrel whiskey for a great price, and some non alcoholic beer for Super Bowl Sunday. This is an outdated old liquor store that is not like other 21st Amendment stores that I have been to before. The selection of beer is Ok, but not impressive. The liquor selection is Ok, and the wine selection is mediocre. The staff are not that helpful and appear to be bored and not interactive, so if you need assistance or have questions, you are out of luck. I would not come back here again personally just because the selection of products is mediocre and not really worth the time to spend looking for a bottle of liquor or beer. The staff are in their own little world and not available to help at a moment's notice, so that alone tells me not to come back here again. It is a decent liquor store for what it is, but just not up to quality standards. You can take it or leave it.
