We tried the restaurant (formerly Chef's of New York). Limited menu, but the kitchen was very good at working with my food issue. The decor and serve were awesome. Very nice having live music.

So chill. Great to visit after The State. just saw Back to Black. Walked down from the State Theatre. Aaand...just discovered Rainer water beer!! So so cold and perfect for triple digit heat in Modesto!! New favey fave!

The ramen was not good but the little pot sticker type things were very good and so was the latte with brown sugar. I loved the vibe of the place... cute decor and they host poetry Slam nights with backup music. There were some very talented writers and I would definitely go back for the coffee and entertainment. P.s. there's the lofi bar next door where you can order drinks from and bring into the restaurant too.

Best lemon drops in town!!! Tried a few different bars and this place makes the BEST Lemon drop!!! service is always great and the drinks are too!

Dining area at 5:00 when doors open, looking towards the lounge from our window seat at the corner of J and 14th. Beautiful!

Delicious food and drink in a great space--I highly recommend LoFi. The service and location are top notch, too.

The new remodel is gorgeous. I love that they have old movies and videos playing on a projector and live DJs. Shawna is the best bartender!! She makes drinks that will blow your mind.

A great speakeasy bar. My favorite type of bar. Super chill vibes. Couches and lighting set the mood. And the bartender makes very good classic cocktails. A lot of people suggest taking selfies in the bathroom as well. I guess the bathroom has the best lighting for selfies.

Okay, downside first, the salad was huge! Upside, it was so delicious I had to stop myself from eating every last bite. The service was attentive without being obnoxious. The restaurant is cute, like an old-fashioned diner and reminded me of the retro Graffiti theme that Modesto is famous for.

Good Morning! I just realized the time. I've been looking all night for a bday venue and came across your lounge. I'm planning a get together for my 70's theme bday party? What's the max capacity for group reservation? Is cake/food allowed?

Hi can you please give us a phone call to discuss details, thank you! 209)550-9033

We ate at Bauhaus for the first time tonight and everything was perfect. Every single bite of…read moreevery dish was remarkable. I started out with their house made soda - a sparking strawberry drink that was extremely refreshing. We were there early and had the pleasure of sitting at the counter and talking to Tye - the owner/chef and Shauna the wait staff. Dishes are to share. Tye explained that he serves the dishes in particular order to deliver balance with intensely flavored dishes alternating with milder bites. We started with a simple plate of Marcona almonds, Castelvetrano olives and Manchego cheese. We then enjoyed the cabbage with peanut sauce dish - which may sound unusual but was absolutely delightful. We practically licked the plate - in fact asked for a spoon to capture all of the sauce. Next came whipped feta and ricotta cheese served with thinly sliced stone fruit some chili crisp and honey sprinkled with red walnuts and olive oil. This is served with bread slices. It's hard to describe how delicious and flavorful this dish was with such simple ingredients. We were going to order the steak and chimichurri but were talked into the lamb pops - and we are so glad to have tasted these marvelous lamb chops. They were cooked perfectly. In fact they were so good - we went ahead and ordered the steak too - which was extremely flavorful on its own but served with a fresh house made chimichurri. We also ordered the patatas bravas which were perfectly seasoned and cooked - almost crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside with just a perfect level of heat. We finished the meal with the cinnamon rolls - don't know how they cooked these to perfection so quickly but they were fantastic. Bottom line - how have we not been here before! Most important - we will be back!! Thank you Bauhaus for a great meal and dining experience.

I've been to Cask and Barrel in Ripon several times, primarily to purchase individual craft beer…read morecans for my beer reviews. One thing I really appreciate is their wide variety of beers and the ability to purchase single cans rather than committing to an entire four-pack. However, there's one area where I think they could significantly improve: beer freshness and inventory rotation. On multiple visits, I've purchased beers that were well past their prime. For example, I purchased a Fieldwork beer that was over five months old, a Roadhouse Prism Hazy IPA packaged on January 14, 2026, that I purchased in November 2026 (nearly 10 months old!), and another beer that was canned in May 2026 but purchased in October 2026, making it approximately five months old. For those unfamiliar with craft beer, particularly hazy IPAs, freshness makes a tremendous difference in the overall drinking experience. These beers are heavily dependent on hop profiles that deliver distinct tropical fruit, citrus, floral, and dank characteristics. As they age, those delicate hop aromas and flavors begin to deteriorate, sometimes resulting in a dull, muted, overly sweet, or oxidized beer that tastes nothing like the brewery intended. As a general rule, I prefer purchasing hazy IPAs within three months of their packaging date, ideally even fresher. While proper refrigeration can help preserve quality, a hazy IPA that's five to ten months old is generally not going to deliver the same hop aroma, flavor, and punch as a fresh one. Unfortunately, I ended up pouring these beers down the drain because their quality had deteriorated to the point where I couldn't fairly review them. When I review a beer, I want to experience the hop profiles, aromas, and flavors the brewery actually intended to showcase. Reviewing a beer that's several months past its prime would be an unfair representation of the brewery and the work that went into creating it. It's disappointing to spend money on craft beer only to dump it because the freshness wasn't there. My biggest recommendation to Cask and Barrel would be to pay closer attention to packaging dates and inventory rotation. When hop-forward beers begin approaching or exceeding their ideal freshness window, they should be clearly identified and discounted accordingly rather than sold at full price without any indication of their age. I genuinely enjoy the selection and appreciate having a place nearby where I can explore different breweries and purchase individual cans. However, when customers are paying craft beer prices, they should be getting beer that properly represents the quality and flavor the brewery intended. With better attention to freshness dates and some proactive inventory management, Cask and Barrel could make an already great selection an even better experience for craft beer enthusiasts.
