There's a particular kind of magic in a café that knows exactly what it's doing, and Lo-Fi on Nostrand has it in their kremas latte.
If you know, you know: kremas is that rich, celebratory Haitian drink-coconut, warm spice, a little sweetness that tastes like someone's grandmother made it with love. Lo-Fi took that whole feeling and folded it into a latte, and somehow it works even better than it has any right to. The espresso holds its ground underneath, dark and grounding, while the coconut and cinnamon and nutmeg rise up over the top like a memory you didn't know you missed. It's velvety without being heavy. Sweet, but the good kind of sweet, the kind that lingers instead of shouting.
The server was so sweet too!
What I love most is that it doesn't feel like a gimmick. It feels rooted. You can taste the intention in it, the way a neighborhood spot puts its whole self into a single cup. On a grey Brooklyn morning it's the thing that turns your whole day warm, and on a good day it just makes a good day better.
Go sit by the window, beautiful Brooklyn Ambiance, order the kremas latte, and take the first sip slow. Lo-Fi understood the assignment. This one's a keeper. read more
