This is a delicious Mexican food spot in Bakersfield. Extremely convenient if you are headed to the airport and need to grab a burrito to go. They are tucked away inside the Shell gas station. There's lots of options to pick from. I got a veggie burrito and it was great. Fresh, full of flavor and a great size. I tried the mild salsa and really liked it. It was still flavorful. A coworker and I were driving through the area, and felt breakfast was a good idea. (Don't ask why we skipped the other fast food joints - McD's, BK, Denny's....quite frankly, I was wondering the same thing too.) I wanted a decent breakfast without meat (since it's Lent), so I decided to try the Chilaquiles. So, I'm not sure if it was due to the container retaining the heat, but the chips were super soggy. The green salsa seemed sparing (I'm sure it was soaked into the chips as well). The cheese was also scant. The eggs were good, though. I asked for over medium, and it was cooked the way I like it. However, this dish lacked any real flavor (Maybe add more seasoning?) It just seemed bland. The girl who took my order also seemed a bit preoccupied. There was a point when I thought she was talking to me, so when I answered her, she ignored me. I didn't realize she was on the phone. When she was finished, she seemed annoyed when I spoke to her. It was ok. Not what I expect from Cali. We ordered 2 small tripa tacos, an asada torta and California burrito. The tripa tacos were so hard and dry. Completely overcooked and very disappointing. The torta was no bueno. The added whole pinto beans as opposed to refried beans and had very little flavor. The California burrito was the best thing but that isn't saying much. When you are in a 40 foot RV its hard sometimes to find what you want. We were wanting Mexican food. Reviews were great and we were able to park on the side of the road on hwy 65 so we thought we would try it even though it was not a sit down restaurant. So worth it! Food was great. Chile verde was wonderful. Just hot enough. Tacos (1 chicken 1 beef) were great. Beans and rice were both done to perfection. Great job Llamas! It's hands-down THE best chicken tacos I've ever had - better than Dave's Tacos (sorry Dave) - and the best breakfast/brunch to kick off the weekend. I originally used to get some type of breakfast burrito with red sauce on my way to BPS, but then I moved on to chicken tacos (grilled onions and no cilantro) with orange sauce. I've had the tacos for over four years and I haven't looked back. Maybe one day I'll branch out and try their Asian options. One time I placed a large order for a D&D session and everything was perfect when I went to go pick it up - I'm talking about fixings for over 40 chicken and carne asada tacos. The group couldn't have been happier. In my past two places of employment I've taken [taco] orders for coworkers and their eyes light up when they taste the food. First they ask, "Where did you get these from?" which is followed up by, "Holy **** I should have ordered more." Thanks to inflation their prices are more than fair and puts all fast food joints to shame. People want to relate marriage to food. "Being married is like eating the same thing everyday." First time I came here I got a pre-made sausage or bacon (can't remember which) breakfast burrito and it was a bit dry with a bit too many potatoes. Not the best or the worst. I tried them one more time and the family chefs, a father and son, prepared a fresh breakfast burrito with their homemade salsa in it. It. Was. Legendary. Now I visit this place way too often because the salsa is so good and everything they made is absolutely delicious. Try Llamas out sometime, they are a perfect breakfast and lunch spot for work and never any lines. Literally a hole in the wall, unmarked grill tucked away at the back of a Shell gas station. But the food is great - I had 3 small tasty tacos cooked in the spot- shrimp with cram and sauce, chile verde and fish. Owner is really nice and prices are awesome. Will go back for more. I stopped here not knowing what to expect. the gas station isn't the cleanest, the bathroom isn't nice, so I was mentally setting myself up for dissapointment.....but God damn, the tacos were good. had the carnitas, asada, and chicken and they were all made fresh for me on the grill and I ate them happily. price is great, service was fast, the cooks were friendly. the only reason to knock off points is cause the place isn't as nice as it could be. great food for a quick lunch, perhaps not the best stop for a quick lunch. definitely coming back here again. read more

WoW is what I think of when it comes to Llamas Mexican Grill!!! I went today for their California Burrito because it was so awesome the last time I had it. While there I decided to add a few extra tacos to try them out and they are by far the best tacos in Bakersfield. They have about 5 different types of salsa to satisfy your needs. What a damn gem literally located in a hole in the wall of a Shell gas station. Everything is made to order. I've been here a few times and I've only ordered their breakfast burritos, so this review is only leaning towards someone who strives for a Mexican joint that pisses pure excellence on the product they put out during breakfast hours. Now, my ex did get carne asada fries once and those were pretty good and if she didn't have the appetite proportions of a small bird, she would've finished them. Hell, I finished them. But that's besides the point! Now back to the breakfast burritos. These burritos are massive. And when I say massive, I mean imagine ordering whatever the hell you possibly could fit into a POS chipotle burrito. Just at this very moment I'm typing this review, I'm having a Chili verde w/ ham breakfast burrito. The BEST chili verde I've literally had in the Bakersfield city limits and I've tried numerous places. The ham "topping" is not truly a topping because they doused the burrito in ham like they didn't scrounge at all. Everything in this burrito is cooked to perfection potatoes, ham, egg, pork in the verde. If you like chili verde and ham in a breakfast burrito COME HERE. The best part about this hole in the wall place is the employees. There's two workers. The mastermind chef behind it all and a cashier.
