I am so glad we had an impromptu lunch here! It was a quiet Sunday afternoon, we received attentive service, happy to discover it is BYOB, great music selection at a reasonable volume and most importantly the food was authentic and delicious! The decor is very cute and esthetically pleasing.

We were a group of 4 who were very excited to come here. Our friends just moved to the area (from Queens) and were excited to check out the Latin American food scene in North Jersey. To be fair, we had pretty high expectations for this place before even setting foot inside. But we were constantly met with disappointment one after the other, starting with the service. Our server didn't really speak English (which is not a problem at all since most of my group speaks Spanish), but she seemed either inexperienced or new and undertrained because she hardly kept up with what was available/isn't on the menu and the food portions. For example, we asked about the size of the Jalea and having already ordered 2 large-portioned main dishes, she implied that one plate wouldn't be enough for all of us, so we ordered 2 at her suggestion. When the Jalea came, it was a massive portion and between the four of us, we had a hard time even getting through half of one plate. The batter felt overdone and we all wondered if the seafood mix was frozen. We kind of almost felt sick trying to finish our food rather than letting it go to waste. From the time we put this order in, to the time we finally got them, it honestly was close to an hour, which is pretty ridiculous. It was never even a thought to give us any salsa or dipping sauce until we asked. The food was overall very average. The other items we ordered were the Lomo Saltado (which was bland and the fries were hardly crispy) and the Leche de Tigre, which was probably the best item out of all the others. Something to keep in mind is that they don't have a liquor license, so there is no alcohol served, but I believe it is BYOB. None of us are big drinkers, so this had no impact on our experience. To add insult to injury, they automatically added the 18% gratuity before the total, which they taxed on top of, and had the audacity to keep the option of additional tips open. This was a tasteless business practice, on top of the subpar service that we barely got to begin with. This wasn't a great impression for our friends who are looking to find some Latin American staples around their new home, and this definitely won't be one of them.

Lomo Saltado

Wonderful atmosphere with amazing Peruvian dishes. I had the Lomo Saltado. The meat was tender and delicious. The staff were helpful and very friendly. I'll be back soon.

The Llama House A Must-Have Experience in Englewood! If you're anywhere near Englewood, NJ, The Llama House is an absolute must-have dining experience! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, vibrant, and welcoming. The décor gives you that authentic Peruvian vibe while still feeling modern and comfortable. The food? Incredible. Every dish is bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The ceviche is unbelievably fresh, perfectly balanced with citrus and spice. The lomo saltado is cooked to perfection -- tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. You can truly taste the authenticity in every bite. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making great recommendations if it's your first visit. Service is quick without ever feeling rushed, which makes the whole experience even better. If you love bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and a spot that feels special every time you go, this is it. Englewood is lucky to have this gem. I'll definitely be back -- again and again! Five stars all the way!

This place is probably one of the best Peruvian god spots I have had and its nice that its a few blocks away from me. The restaurant is very colorful and bright inside. It feels very welcoming and cheerful. I love all the llamas around the restaurant. Mboyfriend and I really enjoyed our meal here. The Chaufa and Lomo Saltado was delicious. Totally recommend. The service was good, except for the waiter forgetting our drink and I needed to remind him after a while, but otherwise I would return.

I enjoyed the food at Llama House and the service was good too! The seafood rice, meat were both seasoned very well and flavorful. The ceviche and linguine al pesto stood out the most. The ceviche had a good balance of tangy and sweet. The fish also tasted fresh. The ambiance is interesting and colorful. The portion was good but the dishes were a bit overpriced I thought. Overall, it was a good experience and I'd give it a 4.2!

Fried seafood platter. Very fresh and tasty.

Went to this new spot, previously Akai, which is nicely decorated in traditional Peruvian art with nice fresh feel. Went with a friend who is Peruvian and he assured me the food is authentic and exactly what he was looking forward to. Staff was friendly and food was very good and fresh. Only drawback is there is no liquor license, so we couldn't enjoy a traditional Peruvian Pisco Sour, or any other booze. We will be back.

I've been here twice now, and had to get their roasted chicken both times because it was so good. The chicken is juicy and flavorful, and served with green sauce. I chose chaufa and fries as my two sides, which were good. My husband had ceviche, which tasted fresh and he enjoyed. Will be back again when the Peruvian craving hits!

"The food is delicious!" Is all I heard while our company had our 30 employee appreciation lunch in at Llama house. The experience was perfect, food came out timely, and all the dishes were beautifully prepared. Most of the employees that live around the area have a new Peruvian spot to order from! Definitely recommended this restaurant to my fellow managers to book this place for a team lunch. Thank you again!

Jalea meal

Service and ambience were great but the food wasn't what I was expecting. It was decent food but definitely not the quality I expected from such a beautiful restaurant in this neighborhood full of spots. I think overall I couldn't tell if the seasoning was different than I was used to or if some of the ingredients were old. My yuca fries that were part of my jalea were dry and tasted off. Some of the tomatoes in my families lomo saltados tasted old as well and the meat tasted different too. I'm truly not sure if the recipes are flavored differently than I've tried at diff Peruvian restaurants or the food wasn't good. I will say my brother got the best meal, the peruvian chicken rice and beans meal was really yummy! My mom has been here a few times now and has the same feedback so I doubt we will be back. I felt terrible for not liking the food at all since the customer service and non-alcoholic drinks were amazing.

The pasta was very creamy and enjoyed the flavor. As someone who loves steak and is picky with how I receive it, I had ordered a porterhouse Medium Rare, the first one we received was overcooked to medium well and our server second guessed me when I brought it to attention. He had to call over another worker to double check and we had to ask once again if we were able to get it redone to our liking before even getting it replaced right away. The second porterhouse we received was done correctly and was seasoned well and had enough fat to make it buttery and melty. Espresso Martini was made well and for Whiskey Sours, if you like them on the smokier side, I would recommend it. All in all, we enjoyed all the food but the only set back for us was that we had to wait a little longer for our steak which we wanted to pair with our pasta. By the time it came out correctly, our pasta was already cold.

We arrived right when they opened (perfect timing, especially with a snowstorm expected later that day), so the restaurant was still quiet. The space has a modern, upscale vibe that definitely feels suited for special occasions. It's located on a busy street, and while they do offer valet, we lucked out with free street parking since it was early. They offer a prix fixe brunch for $39 per person, which includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. It's a good way to experience the restaurant without committing to a full dinner price point--but be aware that quite a few items come with upcharges, and drinks are not included, so the bill can climb quickly. I do have a gluten allergy, and I was honestly surprised by how limited the gluten-free options were for a restaurant of this caliber. That said, I made it work: I started with a Bellini, had the sizzling slab of bacon as my appetizer, the recovery burger (no bun sub roasted potatoes as a side) as my main, and finished with the salted caramel gelato. Everything I had was enjoyable, but I would have appreciated more flexibility in the menu. The rest of the group (no dietary restrictions) had more variety to choose from and really enjoyed their meals, which is always a good sign. Service was attentive without being overbearing--likely helped by the fact that it wasn't too crowded yet--so we were able to relax and actually enjoy conversation, which made the celebration feel special. The restaurant also has a private back room that looks great for parties, plus a downstairs lounge area, which adds to its appeal as an event space. Overall, for me it's definitely more of a special occasion spot, and while the pricing is on the higher side for what you get, brunch feels like the best way to experience it. I'd come back again--but probably stick to brunch.

I'm used to getting ravioli from an Italian Superstore that's dotted across Long Island. Good? Yeah maybe but what I grew up with? Nah. I'm in The Bronx and I'm going to stop at Borgatti's Ravioli for our Sunday dinner. Walking into the store, it's very small. There are high glass partitions, no touching just pointing. I see the various pastas and ravioli but I want the big suckas. Small ravioli? C'Mon! I made the best red sauce that I will drown these raviolis in a sea of tomatoes. The small raviolis just can't swim in my pot! The older gentleman behind the counter asks if he can help me. I ask him to open the box and actually show me the larger ravioli. Oh baby, they are large and in charge. Why I walked out with one box still boggles my mind because I should have bought 3. I'm not in the area too often and the extra boxes would have carried me through the winter. I hand over my cash and the gentleman says God Bless to me. I'm not getting blessings on Long Island! When I came home, my wife made the perfect Sunday dinner. Those raviolis came straight from the 70s. Simply perfect. God Bless us, everyone.

Typically not a big "restaurant at a hotel food guy" but the experience and food here we're both pretty good. There's a nice choice of seating if you prefer a bar experience or a sit down restaurant experience. We chose to sit down restaurant experience. Our waiter was very friendly and quite attentive. After mulling over the menu we were set for dinner. My colleague had the fillet mignon, medium rare with mushroom and Bolognese sauce. I got the rigatoni with eggplant. The dinner starts out with two rolls and butter. Be sure to ask for a choice of rolls as it appears, there are three or four different options to choose from. They were OK, not warm, a bit on the stale side. My colleague enjoyed the steak saying it was tender and filling. It was juicy and had a lot of flavor to it. The overall feedback was positive. My rigatoni was Al Dante, perfect! The red sauce was just right. Not too sweet nor too tangy. There was a fair amount of eggplant and balls of mozzarella cheese. I added Parmesan cheese sprinkled on the top. Every bit of my meal was eaten. Not all meals include a salad. The filet did include a salad. I had to get a side salad. The salads were a bit small and lacking variety but overall OK. Overall this restaurant is a good choice.
