When we needed carpet in our bedroom & closets, we went to their showroom & selected carpet that seemed perfect for us, but when it was installed, it turned out that this new carpet style from Shaw hadn't been completely tested out. It didn't "seam up" properly, i.e., no matter what the installers tried, they couldn't get rid of a visible seam across the length of the room. The carpet came in a 12-foot roll and the room was wider than 12 feet, so the carpet had to have a seam, which is normally completely invisible. This new carpet style, though, had loop pile so close together and with a distinct enough diagonal pattern that matching the seam was impossible. Cutting the edge close enough to match the diagonal pattern meant not leaving enough backing to hold the loop in, so it would pull out. Apparently Shaw didn't test out installation well in the design & manufacture of that carpet style. When Kimi's operations manager was the final installation, he immediately agreed that the seam was too visible and agreed to replace the carpet. We selected another style -- one that the installers assured us would "seam up"! -- and Kimi's came and installed it with no problem. It was apparently covered by Shaw's materials warranty and also Kimi's installation warranty. The installers were friendly and professional; they did a fine job (both times, aside from the materials problem). We'd happily use Kimi's again and we recommend them.

They refuse to even acknowledge their mistakes, tried to trick us into paying for the work they're unable to complete, and even hired a lawyer to send a letter threatening a lawsuit over the 1-star review. Don't make the same mistake as us by hiring this company. Read their bad reviews to find out how they deal with things when something goes wrong. Don't make the same mistake as us by hiring this company. We contracted with this company to remove all the carpet in the house, and to replace it with LVP. It started off poorly, as they called us the day before they were to start, and said that the materials hasn't arrived yet, and that their starting date would be delayed by two weeks. This put us in a bit of a situation and also cost us money, as we'd blocked off our Airbnb rooms already for those dates, moved furniture and things around, and had scheduled our vacation around the dates they'd originally given us. This also meant that they'd be installing it right before Christmas, when we had out of town guests staying with us causing further disruption. We let it go without saying anything, and just did what we could to work around their new schedule, nearly two weeks later. The problem isn't so much that the materials weren't delivered on time (did someone forget to order them?) but rather that they didn't bother telling us until right before they were originally to start, instead of as soon as they learned the materials wouldn't arrive in time. During the 5 days of installation, the owner was constantly berating and yelling at his employees, which made things a bit uncomfortable in the house for our family and visitors. It was only after we'd paid the deposit and they'd done most of the work that the owner said he wasn't able to do part of it. They insisted that they weren't able to do a raised platform in the theater room that both looks good and is safe. After I said that particular area was specifically discussed when they came out to measure for a quote, and was what was explicitly agreed on both verbally and in the contract, he stormed out of the house and cursed at us. My wife, our visiting houseguests, and I were left standing there in shock at his behavior. Someone from their office called right after he left and said that they weren't sure whether it could be done, and that when Mike saw it he knew it couldn't be covered with LVP so that it would be both safe and look good. None of this was mentioned to us from the beginning, or when they accepted the deposit, or when they started the work. In addition, another contractor, who also installs flooring and was there earlier during the project, made numerous remarks about workmanship quality issues in their installation. We had various other problems with aspects of the installation. Since the owner stormed out in a tantrum, I didn't even have a chance to bring them up. However, it's easier to just not deal with them, and we're hiring someone else to fix their work, and complete the part they weren't able to. What really irks me is that we bought the flooring they recommended. If that flooring wasn't a good choice for stairs or for the theater room platform, they should have recommended something that was. We accepted their recommendations without hesitation, trusting that they had our best interest in mind. The next day, Kimi tried to insist the work was completed and that we needed to pay the remaining balance right away. I can't understand how she could possibly insist that we pay for work they aren't able to complete. It blows my mind that she'd even consider such a thing. I told her that we'd be happy to pay for the work that was completed and for the materials that were used. While eventually she did have an employee send over a new invoice, to date she has neither acknowledged nor apologized for their mistakes, stating that the work was done during the agreed timeframe (it wasn't), that it was complete (it wasn't), and that her husband cursed at me in my home in front of my wife and our houseguests. Check out their other bad reviews, which are typically very detailed, and you'll see a common theme. The owners Kimi and Mike nearly always refuse to acknowledge their mistakes, and even go so far as to badmouth their customers.

I was slammed at work and they offered to have their Flooring Specialist with their Mobile Showroom Division meet me at the property! Drew met me on time (when does that ever happen!) with a great selection of samples! He was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and very quickly narrowed down what would be the best for durability and in my budget! We set up the whole project in a few short taps on his iPad and it went flawlessly!!! Drew was awesome to work with! He was pleasant, knew his products extremely well, didn't waste anytime and was very responsive with follow up questions etc! Since then, we've run into multiple problems, and honestly, it's been incredibly frustrating. Problem 1: Promised One Thing, Got Another We chose a more expensive floor than we originally planned because we were told it had a flush stair cap trim piece. That was important to us because we wanted a seamless, flush transition at the top of the stairs -- no overlap. The flush pieces were on our order and we paid for them. But when the installers showed up, they used an L-shaped piece that created a noticeable lip. When we asked about it, they told us a flush piece didn't actually exist for that floor. So basically, we paid more based on bad information, and there's nothing they could (or would) do to fix it once the floor was already being installed. Problem 2: Boards With Permanent Marker Some of the boards that were installed have purple marker lines under the clear coating. We were told it happened during manufacturing and couldn't be cleaned. The installers admitted they should have caught it and not used those planks. They offered us a few hundred dollars off or said they could replace them, but doing so would require ripping up a large section of flooring, which could cause more damage. They planned to reuse the removed boards, even if they were damaged in the process. Since there wasn't enough extra material to replace them all we'd have to pay for additional boards ourselves if we didn't want them to reuse what they ripped out. We decided not to risk it, covered those boards with furniture and rugs, and took the discount. Problem 3: Gaps in the Hallway In the hallway, 4 boards were cut too short. So now, when the humidity changes, they shift, leaving a 1/2" gap between the floor and the shoe molding, exposing the subfloor. That's about two feet of wall with subfloor showing for half the year. They tried to fix it by gluing and nailing the boards down, but that only worked temporarily. Again, the solution offered was to tear up a big section of the floor, but with the usual warning that it might cause more damage. So once again, we left it alone. Looking back, we probably should have taken the risk of further damage and let them replace those 4 boards. It looks awful. Problem 4: Boards Separating in the Bonus Room In our large bonus room, about 20'x24', some of the boards have started separating, leaving visible gaps. At this point, I haven't even contacted them about this issue, based on how the other problems were handled, I'm not optimistic that anything helpful will come from it. So this one is on me. This year, when we replaced the floor on the main level, we went with a completely different company. When we showed them photos of the upstairs install, they were shocked and told us we should have filed formal complaints and probably could have taken it even further. Honestly, the whole process took so much time, stress, and energy that we just didn't have it in us to keep pushing. If you're considering working with them, be careful, make sure you can actually get what they promise, and keep a close eye on the installation. After reading other reviews, I'm really hoping this was just a bad install crew and that they're no longer around.

So, I called Roberta the owner about my problem and he told me he would get someone on it and that it would be about $200 or $300 when he had a chance. 2 or 3 weeks go by with phone tag and no one showing up. I took off for a 4 day stay in the mountains to help someone out from hurricane Helene. When I got back more promises and still no one showed up. So, I called around and got a hold of Maurice a guy that did floor repairs for other businesses that put floors in. Maurice stated that his standard price for repairs was $300, he took longer than expected and the pieces that had saved for this issue had swollen so they did not fit and Maurice had to modify and return to repair it. Maurice mentioned that Roberta's crew did a good job on the floor installation, but that I paid too much for my floor. Going prices was $7 a square ft. in 2018 not $11. a square ft. I tend to barter with car sellers and roofers, now I will barter with everyone. So, in short if you have a problem with your flooring, Roberta owner of Tri Point Flooring will have you hanging. If I live here long enough to refinish the flooring guess who I will not call?

We will need to refinish the entire 1st floor all over again!!! *Caution: After the problems became evident, I asked Mr. R. for a copy of the 1-year warranty. We paid for it and yet he REFUSED to provide it! Then came a disturbing e-mail from Mr. R in which he asked me to remove my online reviews of his company in exchange for providing the warranty info. He said, "...remove all online reviews" in exchange for "giv[ing] [me] detailed warranty info, ...". I wonder if this warranty even exists. In the future I'll always ask for the warranty UPFRONT. ALERT- Tri Point's Approach to Summarizing Google Reviews Tri Point just unveiled a new "corrected" summary of their Google Reviews after my "1 Star" posting in which I noted they reported NONE of the 9 "1 Star" reviews (see attached screen shot). What's new? 1) Overall score adjusted downward from 4.9 to 4.8 Stars and 2) "1 Star" reviews have magically appeared while "3 Star" reviews have now disappeared from their bar graph. Interestingly, their summary of detailed reviews excludes all but 1 of 9 "1 Star" and all reviews below "5 Star", i.e., 14 "4" and 2 "3" Star. I would NEVER have hired Tri Point had I known of this deceptive practice. I'm smarter now and won't so easily in the future allow the wool to be pulled over my eyes. I ask Mr. R. to reach out and correct mistakes I may have inadvertently made in this Alert. 1. Tri Point Failed to Keep Their Promise to Refinish in 4 Days. Crew's negligence caused weird staining on floors. Mr. Rivera said floors need to be fully refinished again. But we expected the first refinishing would provide a " .flawless execution that meets & exceeds [our] expectations" as stated on Tri Point's website. 2. Mr. Rivera's Opinion of Quality of His Crew's Work His on-line reply to this review states "...the floor did not represent our usual quality of work". During his visit (see photos) he said: "All very weird"; "Very, very embarrassed"; "Something happened during application"; "...applicator was a bad applicator"; "The applicator in the van got contaminated...cross contamination"; "These are lap marks"; "...A huge inconvenience [for] you"; "I know this is overwhelming"; "I couldn't accept this". Mr. R did not perform a final inspection of the refinishing, and it seems neither did a crew member. 3. Mr. R's "solution" Refinish the entire 1st floor for a 2nd time. 4. Impact of a 2nd Refinishing on Homeowners We work from our home offices and cannot close our business for 2 consecutive weeks. Moreover, a 2nd refinishing would require a repeat of the entire process, e.g., close business for a week, pack up 1st floor belongings, place all furniture in storage, disconnect washer/driver/refrigerator, move to temporary housing for a week, clean dust (e.g., walls, windows, cabinet doors and drawers, floors), and move back in. 5. Mr. R's Refusal to Engage in Direct Communication Following my Yelp review Mr. R. posted it's important to have direct dialogue with folks. Yet, he has refused all my requests for such a dialogue & conveyed this by e-mail- "...No further communication is needed." 6. Failure to Disclose All Costs for Refinishing We were not told that following replacement of shoe molding (aka 1/4 round) there would be a visible unpainted gap along all 1st floor baseboards. Mr. R. later acknowledged he knew this problem would arise and we had to sort this out for ourselves. 7. BBB Rating Had I checked I would have discovered a B- rating and that would have been a deal breaker for me. Current rating has dipped to D+ as a result of my complaint that BBB describes as "Not Resolved". 8. Is Mr. Rivera In Unilateral Breach of Contract? I'm not an attorney so I can't answer this question. But Final Invoice balance = $0 and is marked "Paid". While we've met our obligation, Mr. R refuses to provide a copy of the 1 Year Warranty so that we may understand options for mitigating floor failures during this period.

We contracted with Molina Carpets, Inc of Garner NC mid January 2026 to install carpet upstairs and…read moreMarmoleum Cinch Loc Plank n the kitchen and downstairs. The company was great working with us by phone, email, and coming to the house to assess things for the project! After installation and payment, though, communications were slow and things weren't addressed to correct problems. Carpet has unlevel ragged seams, gouges, puckers, and missing padding. Downstairs planks squeak, snap, and sound hollow with ridges and cracks appearing right away and getting worse. Pictures and measurements shared with the manufacturer and Molina (who talked with them) determined that the sub floor is the reason for the floor failure. Manufacturer required guidelines stated on the store contract were not followed. The solution is to pull up the planks, flatten the concrete sub floor, and install new planks. Unfortunately, Molina wouldn't do that. Our 25 year manufacturer wear warranty is voided. We're upset asbestos tiles (tested positive) and vinyl sheet flooring to remain were pulled up - putting our health at risk. After four months of asking for things to be made right, we asked for a refund. A conditional refund offered would let Molina take the defective flooring and have us promise to not speak of our experience (see the CRFA at the FTC site about this). We feel that people should know about our experience. We can't stand walking on the floor and seeing it get worse and worse. We will have to go to a different company to get replacement flooring at our expense. We would not recommend Molina.

Tom came out three times to get the best match of the color based on my request. He is very patient, professional and pays a lot of attention to details. The price is also very reasonable. I really appreciate when the business is getting the job done correctly no matter how big or how small it is!

After getting…read morea quote from a local competitor, we decided on Floor Masters because they were cheaper after including a Duke 10% discount that Marcus alerted us to. We appreciated the promptness of measuring our kitchen and providing a quote. Unfortunately, after paying the first half as a down payment, there were delays in the shipment of materials that pushed the installment back 11 days. We felt that Marcus' communication during this time could have been better, particularly since it left us without a stove for over 2 weeks. The final product (pictured below) looked good overall, but we were disappointed in a couple of the decisions with quarter rounds that looked funky. Marcus did get someone out to fix it within 24 hours. The final charge wasn't what he initially quoted, but that was remedied with a few emails. Overall, Marcus' communication was not what we were hoping for, and we likely won't be going back to Floor Masters.

We bought a new house that had Shaw engineered hardwood floors in some areas and carpeting in other…read moreareas. Our daughter has allergies so we needed to get rid of the carpeting. We found Preferring Flooring on the Shaw Website. Preferred Flooring did a great job. First, Shaw is a little weird because they don't offer the same products to the consumer market that they offer to new home builders. Preferred Flooring found us the equivalent Shaw engineered hardwood that matched perfectly. Second, they did a great job installing the floors including removing the carpeting from the stairs and installing and staining the stair treads to match the Shaw engineered hardwood. Third, they gave us a reasonable price and came in on budget. We also had them do a little tile work in the master bath, which turned out great. Their salesman Jeff Parker is great to work with as are their installation crews. We highly recommend Preferring Flooring and would absolutely use them again.

He arrived on time, and was very thorough -- checking under the carpet to assess the plywood, and going beneath the house to check out the floorboards. He also gave the quote on-site, using his ipad, and emailing it to us immediately. Pricing was competitive and itemized, and given his professional demeanor, the Yelp Deal, and the positive review, it was a no-brainer to hire. The work took three days to complete. Again, Jarek arrived on time for each appointment. On the first day, he and a partner took out the carpet and laid down the oak to level with our other hardwoods. The second day, they closed off the room with plastic to do the sanding and keep it contained. Then, Jarek came back to stain and seal. I wanted to go with a dark coffee hue in the room, and the color came out beautifully. He also touched up the shoe molding with primer. We're very pleased with our new floors, and will be using Jarek again when it's time to refinish the rest of the house.

I try again a couple days later on a day the website AND automated phone message says they are open. I come to the store and find a crappy little note on the window saying they're closed. I tried to support a small business. I really did. If you're going to close the store then at the very LEAST tell your customers by posting this information online or on the automated voice message. Guess I'll be shopping at Lowe's or Home Depot now instead.
