Really amazing Greek food for the value price. You can't eat in, so sadly thier home base is far away from us so that makes it a challenge. The food wasn't hot by time we got home. Otherwise no issues. We took the family chicken meal for 4. We added on Spanakopita, meatballs, and spicy feta cheese with pita. Food was fresh, tasty and a good portion for 4 without the add ons. The only thing I thought was that even though we recieved tzatziki we didn't get any pita with it. We only got pita because we ordered the extra spicy feta cheese dip. I think throwing in some pita with the tzatziki would make sense. Chicken was cooked well. It wasn't too dry and the rosemary tasted lovely. Everyone loved it. The Greek salad was delicous. Fresh produce. Big flavours. The spanakopita was fresh, not oily, and flavourful. The meatballs were a hit. Everyone loved them. The right size and flavourful. The spicy feta cheese was delicious and served great for a sandwich spread for the next week. The lemon potatoes were tasty but maybe a little overcooked (see photo). The two things we didn't love was the rice which seemed bland and overcooked. It was the last thing that we ended up eating The tzatziki which also was bland but not awful. It was fine but we have tasted better in other restaurants. I think they need to tweek thier rice recipe if they are going to make it a staple. This is a take out only. We would definately go there again and take it to the park.

Decided to give this place a try after hearing about it on Tiktok. We ordered the Roasted Chicken Family deal which came with a whole chicken, rice, potatoes, greek salad and tzatziki. The food was very good. I love that they didn't hold back on the cheese in the greek salad and the tzatziki was delicious with the hint of dill. My only negative is that if your family can eat, this may not fill you up conpletely. For the price, I'd give it a 4/5 for how much I think its worth. This place is take out only so in the quick interactions I had with the staff, I'd say they were friendly. I'd go back to try other food items in the future!

Shout out to Little Village - A Tiny Greek Kitchen for making killer amazing #kefkedes these meatballs are packed with flavor, lamb, #bacon? Honestly, best meatballs in the city.. especially if you dunk them in their house made tzatziki redolent in dill and I dare you to try to only eat one piece of their roasted lemon potatos. Mmm. Manna from the gods. Check out their Facebook or instagram page for their daily specials and you can call for bigger catering orders. Pics dont do it justice. I've first tried them at a staff luncheon where we got their food catered in and dayam we were hooked since.

If you've ever had the food from Little Village food truck you've met owner/operator Theo Psalios - the guy inside the truck that always greets you with a smile on his face. Theo brought Little Village to life in 2012 and has been serving up his take on Greek dishes ever since. Operating out of a food truck means food service is dictated by the weather, but now that Theo has a storefront where you can get a taste of Little Village any time of the year. Located along the hustle and bustle of Stony Plain Road, Little Village occupies a small, brightly lit space in a strip mall. A few seats are available for those who wish to dine-in, but Little Village primarily offers ready-made meals for take out. As you walk in you're greeted by large chalkboards and two glass displays with food ready for consumption. While the offerings have some overlap with the food truck (like the lamb sandwich and lemon potatoes), there are also a variety of classic Greek offerings like moussaka, pasticchio, and dolmades. The chalkboards outline the grilled/rotisserie meat, sandwich, and salad options, while the glass display cases are stocked full of cold side dishes and hot Greek classics. Prices are very reasonable given the quality of ingredients and convenience, so I may just find myself here quite often given the close proximity to my home. I stopped by with a friend on opening day and I knew I couldn't leave without my favourites - the roasted lamb and lemon roasted potatoes - so we picked up a 1/3 Lamb Shoulder ($14.75). All the rotisserie meats are served with a side of potatoes and tzatziki, rounding out the meal. The lamb had a beautiful crust, was well seasoned, and was fall-off-the-bone tender. The potatoes were soft and packed full of flavour, and everything together was a killer combination. The Lamb Gyro ($10.50) was also on my radar, stuffed with roasted lamb, vegetables, and herbs. The pita held up well to the combination of ingredients and was fairly filling, but I found myself wanting a side with it. Last but not least we picked up a portion of Moussaka ($6.50/slice), which I lovingly refer to as lasagna's eggplant cousin. The Little Village Moussaka is loaded with eggplant, tomato, ground beef, and creamy bechamel sauce. The mild flavours blend well together, and makes for pretty good comfort food. The food truck will still be found at the 124 Street Grand Market and various events around the city in the summer months, but now that Little Village is open, lemon roasted potato lovers can get their fix year round. Trust me, they're that good. Stop by and grab a bite Tuesday through Saturday, 11am - 6pm (530pm on Saturdays!).

I…read morethink what happened is we ordered the wrong dis, I expected the lamb with side potatoes and vegetables to be real lamb.....like slices of medium rare lamb. my lamb was just shredded (like pull pork). It turned me off completely. my husbands's pork ribs were very good. vegetables (except carrots) were overdone. The two dishes, with unexceptional food cost us around $80 with tip. we had nothing else, no hors d'ouvres no alcohol, no drinks except water. I know we will not return. like I said maybe we did not know what to order. service was exceptional.

I am late on posting this but I have to get it out! This place was amazing! I enjoyed the food here…read moreso much! I love Greek food but I haven't tried Cosmo's yet even though it's been open for like 20 years. If anyone is planning on trying it with the COVID restrictions I would recommend doing so now, because when we went there was a lot of seating with lots of space between people! The food was just amazing. We started with the hummus and pita, and then I tried the Psari Paki! Both were delicious! However, it was the dessert that really stole the show for me. The owner/chef makes the desserts fresh daily and they are true Greek desserts! I loved them! They were called Ekmek and Galacto Buriko - pastries with custard, honey, almonds, etc. OMG they were heavenly. I would come back to this place for the desserts alone. The service was awesome. We came on a Sunday and had a friendly server who had been working there for many years! So she knew all the details and ins/outs of what we were ordering. She gave us tonnes of recommendations as well! 10/10 experience - I would recommend this spot to anyone interested in trying some of the Greek restaurants in YEG.

The menu has a large selection of appetizers and mains, many of which can be shared. I opted for the chicken souvlaki which featured two skewers of perfectly cooked and seasoned chunks of chicken, atop a mountain of seasoned rice, roasted potatoes, and cooked vegetables. Another girl filled our waters constantly. We tried: Saganaki: 10/10. Another Greek restaurant added a shot of alcohol and lit it on fire (big show) which was fun but this place did not. Lemon on the side. I purposely ordered pita just so I could have this on top of bread. Flavor was great, texture was great. Tasted less greasy than the other place. Pita: 10/10, soft, goes well with the Saganaki. Does not come with any dips or anything. Spanakopita: 3 pieces. 7/10. I really did not like, spinach taste was very strong and no feta taste. Came so hot we burned out mouths which was cool. My mother liked the flavor though. Chicken Skewers: 2 skewers. 10/10 flavor was great, sauce was great, moist too. Baklava: I give it an 8/10. Flavor was fine but was soooooo mushy. My mother said it was too mushy and could not eat it. Cherry on the side was super yummy. Lots of other cool desserts to try next time. Overall some good dishes here.

This place has gone downhill with the chefs and menu! A couple of us ordered the slow cooked lamb…read moreand it was a terrible disappointment. It was very over cooked like the scrapings off the bottom of a burnt pot roast. Tough, dried out and chopped up in pieces. Some at our table ordered the rack of lamb but I noticed the lamb was not all finished. The lamb was all overcooked! On top of that, it came with a side of mashed potatoes - not at all Greek style! The calamari I ordered was plentiful but lots of batter with not much flavor except for the yogurt (which was supposed to be tzatziki) on the side and some onion. The entertainment with the Belly Dancer was amusing. The service was exceptional from our waitress and kept everyone happy with quick service and smiles. The Waitress and Belly Dancer may have saved a couple stars for Yiannis food tonight! My wife's prawn saganaki was served in a small bowl, not a lot of sauce and not a whiff of ouzo. Pretty small serving, compared to previously ordering the same item. The order of Greek potatoes turned out to be 1.5 boiled potatoes cut in a few pieces with a slice of lemon and leaky yogurt (again, meant to be tzatziki). Pretty sure this is not how Greek potatoes are done. A friend ordered beef souvlaki, it was so dry and so burned, that she almost had to use all her muscles to pull out the pieces of meat from the burned out stick. I think she got exhausted trying to chew this dry meat and eventually left it all in the plate. Needless to say, this place can safely remove the "Greek" from their claim as nothing was Greek. Also, needless to say, we will not be going there...EVER!

Yiannis Taverna has been a longtime fixture in Old Strathcona for as long as I can remember. They…read moreopened back in 1990, proving that their traditional Greek cuisine - 35 years strong - is a reliable mainstay, withstanding decades on the vibrant and ever-evolving Whyte Ave. It's been a hot minute since my last visit and I figured that it was due time. They were named Best Mediterranean Restaurant 2021 in the Edmonton Journal and this was enough to stoke my interest. A reservation is best, especially on a warm summer evening when their large garage-front doors are open to the outside air. Parking can be tricky on Whyte but with some luck you might grab a spot out front. I visited on a Saturday evening and despite my reservation, I was still unable to snag a coveted patio table beneath their signature blue and white awning. There was an empty table near the patio that they also wouldn't let me occupy because it was "already reserved." (Didn't I have a reservation?) I settled on a spot further inside the dining room, lovely nonetheless. The dining area is quite large, occupying two levels. Full of original exposed brick and beautiful painted murals, the space is designed to embody the feeling of sitting in a Greek taverna. The most striking element of decor is certainly the wall of glowing kako mati, or evil eyes, used to protect against negative energy. I had heard that traditional dancers entertain on Saturday evenings but no such dancers appeared. Maybe I was dining too early in the night? To start my visit, I was looking for a summery cocktail that would match the Greek feast that I was prepared to enjoy. Between the Ouzo Lemonade and the Aegean Fizz (Greek brandy, Cointreau, lemon, soda - $14.00), I chose the latter. This drink succeeded at being a fun effervescent summertime cocktail, however it was very boozy. I had a difficult time finishing it because the alcohol was quite strong. The menu is ideally crafted for sharing and in Greek tradition you can imagine large families feasting together over plentiful platters of various foods. This exact spirit is captured in Yiannis' Mezethes menu, filled with an abundant selection of appetizers. Why try only a few when you can simply order the Mezethes Platter (Dip platter, Greek salad, dolmades, meatballs, spanakopita, and kalamari - $49.00) and taste them all? (Or at least a lot of different items.) The dip platter arrived first, followed by the second course of everything else later on. Consisting of Melitzano Salata (Roasted Eggplant Spread), Revithia (Hummus), and Taramosalata (Caviar Mousse), all served with pita bread, it was fun to dig into this dish and to sample each of the different flavours. The Melitzano Salata made with garlic and tahini was my favourite because I liked the rough texture and full-on garlic punch. The Revithia was fairly standard, made with garbanzos and tahini. And finally, the Taramosalata was quite exciting with its mayonnaise-like consistency, made with lemon and infused with oil. As a caviar mousse, this dip felt the most luxurious. The pita itself was nothing special and somewhat hard and dry. It could have been purchased at a grocery store, for all I knew. The rest of the Mezethes arrived on a big platter and consisted of many colourful items to explore. Served with an ample helping of Tzatziki (Cow's Milk Yogurt Dip) made with dill and garlic, it's the ketchup of Greek food! It goes with everything! I loved trying each and every item on the plate, inadvertently taking myself on a little Greek adventure through food. The Horiatiki Salata (Greek Salad) was very fresh, bursting with bright juicy tomatoes, English cucumbers, peppers, onions, and kalamata olives. (I was happy to find kalamata olives dotting every dish.) Adorned generously with creamy feta cheese, the salad was excellent. The Dolmades (Stuffed Grape Leaves) were a surprise! Stuffed with minced beef and rice, I often find them dry and unremarkable. However, at Yiannis the dolmades were full of juicy flavour and one of the best items on the plate! I never thought that I could be impressed with dolmades and here we are! The Keftedes (Yiayia's Meatballs) were a similar experience. Made with minced beef and onions, the meatballs were juicy, flavourful, and not at all dry. Yiayia knows what she's doing! (But of course she does.) The Spanakopita (Spinach & Cheese Pie) is another dish that I often find underwhelming in other restaurants. Not so at Yiannis! Light phyllo pastry was wrapped around fresh baby spinach, dill, and creamy feta, creating a delectable bite. Maybe some of the best spanakopita that I've ever had! Finally, the platter included Kalamarakia (Crispy Squid) served with diced onion and tzatziki. I found the crunchy batter to be really heavy-handed and it was difficult to tell if there was any squid within each bite at all. Overall, there were a lot of great things about this platter and it was an optimal way to share with my co-diners and for us to tas
