Linguine D'Mare and Sauasage Gluten Free Pasta Dish
    Teresa S.

We had a very pleasant experience for dinner. Right now they have a promotion where kids eat free and we decided to give it a try as a family. I personally have had brunch here a couple of times, and it has always been wonderful. Tonight we sat on the patio and really enjoyed the wonderful music an atmosphere. Our server was kind and working hard. It was very quiet when we first came in, but picked up throughout the evening. The kids passed the dishes were very generous portions. My daughter said it was the best pasta ever and my son gobbled every last bite. His meatball (which was literally the size of a baseball) was not punched in, but when reminded, he got a blazing warm one and they took it off the bill. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his gluten-free pasta dish. My dish could have easily been shared by two people, and all of the seafood that was in it was cooked perfectly. Won't be our last time coming here for sure.

So nice to have a good restaurant on the east end of Sherwood Park. Most are on the west side. Decore is kind of modern and open inside. Not huge. Nice that they retained the centrepiece dark wood bar. The eggs Benny was good and nicely garnished, but the pancakes were exceptional! Best pancakes I've had in a long time. Pastas are good. Service was superb: I wasn't expecting the attention to detail, it was first class. We didn't need to ask, they seemed to know what we needed. I would say this place is a cut above. They should consider linen napkins to top it off. They lost the nice washrooms from the previous restaurant, so the newly installed basic ones could use a refurbishing to go better with the ambiance. There is an outdoor patio and ample free parking.

I can't believe that I haven't heard more about this little gem tucked away in an obscure area of Sherwood park. It was recommended to me and a friend after our massages close by. Really glad she did. Super cute but small inside. I could see how this place would be full on a weekend. However, on a Tuesday at lunch it wasn't too full. We had an incredibly charming server who was super knowledgeable on the wine and food menu. Helped us choose a bottle of wine which was amazing and help us on the menu choices. Menu is pretty much standard Italian fair with the usual amount of selections and diversity between appetizers, salads, entrees and pastas. I decided on the seafood pasta and my friend who was more peckish feeling choice the cheese plate. Both were outstanding in taste and presentation. So much high quality seafood packed in the bowl and a huge portion. I only ate half and the other half did me nicely the day after. And the cheese plate looked fantastic. To me, this is well worth the price they charge for their food. Definitely will be back.

a plate of pasta with chicken and parsley

We went there for our Anniversary was told the food was really good . But we were really disappointed. Started with the water that had lipstick marks . Should have walked out at that moment but didn't . The bread was very dry that they gave before our meal .Thank goodness it was free . The Calamari was dry and over cooked . I ordered the seafood dish , i asked for extra creamy . She brought us Parmesan cheese , it was kraft parmesan ! I asked the waitress if they had real parmesan cheese . She said no. Seriously how do you think they make Alfredo sauce ??? Plus with the prices of the dishes i would expect real parm . My meal came to me like a soup was not a cream pasta at all . The waitress never bothered to tell me that . However the seafood was good . My husband got chicken fettuccine he said was ok. The noise was ridiculous dishes banging , staff yelling . Probably wont go back with a $200.00 dollar bill i expect better quality ,and less noise . Also REAL parmesan cheese .

One of the best things about this Cafe is that in addition to nice wraps, good soup and nutritious smoothies and juices, they also serve gluten free, dairy free and vegan selections. The prices aren't the cheapest in town, but you pay for the quality. The hubs was thrilled to discover a huge date/granola/square type bar that is soft, chewy and incredibly filling while still being gluten free AND dairy free. They have also told him they can prepare him a gluten free wrap. The ambiance is light and casual with lots of great art. Check out the huge piece on the middle wall, on the right hand side, facing away from the kitchen. Some say it is interesting, some say creepy but I prefer whimsical. If it was just a bit smaller, I would pack those cute pair of jeans up and take them home with me! The Cafe has expanded twice since they opened - once to add a patio and the second time to more than double their interior seating.

Although scary looking with its bright green colour, I recommend the kale smoothie for a fresh drink. Some of the sandwiches are a bit bland and some, such as the spicy chicken, don't transcribe well to salad. As far as the soups go, I recommend the Spicy Thai Chicken. Although it comes with an extra charge over the regular soups, it is filling and flavourful with a generous portion.

For $5/person you have unlimited access to, well there were probably close to a hundred board games if not more, for the durations of your visit. Everything is done on a tab, so you go up and order your food and drinks, let the staff know how many people will be at your table, and then you settle the tab when you leave. That way you don't have to worry about someone taking over your property on Park Avenue during an intense game of Monopoly. I met a couple of friends here and we played several games. First up Jumanji, because I am a child of the 90's and that just sounded awesome. Turns out a board game based on a movie based on a book about a magical board game that can cause an elephant stampede or trap you in the jungle isn't as exciting as it seems. There was a secret decoder in the game that I remember from other 90's board games (like Clue Jr), but the game itself was pretty boring. To be fair it's aimed for those 8 and up, so I'm a bit above that target audience. After that wholesome goodness we needed to go in the other direction, so we played Cards Against Humanity. Or I think we played Cards Against Humanity. There were's directions in the game box so we googled how to play and then kind of made up our own rules. I don't know who won, but it was funny. After humour it was time for a depressing game of Life (at least for me - I lost on all accounts). I think a few of the pieces (some Life tiles for sure) may have been missing from this game. It's bound to happen in a place like this, pieces go missing, break, get torn (hopefully from competitive game use and not someone intentionally trying to be a jerk). That $5 admission fee helps to repair old games and buy new ones, but things aren't perfect. Finally we played Mad Gab, the game where you're reading a nonsensical phrase from a card and you're saying something legit, but you don't know what it is (you have to guess). Turns out my friend had this game as a kid and she whooped us with it, so I know what game I'm not playing with here next time I come here. And yes there'll be a next time, because I think this is a great little cafe, and I love the fact there's somewhere in this odd industrial neighbourhood to grab some food and drinks, and have some fun.
