UPDATE: I went back to have an order of cold rolls and Pho with beef. I walked in and the place was empty and there were three or four buckets placed around the restaurant catching water from a leaky ceiling. Of course, i was seated right next to a bucket so hearing the intermittent water drops was like Vietnamese water torture. Luckily I had my earbuds with me so i was able to listen to a podcast to block out the drips. We had just gotten hit with about 6 inches of snow the previous day so I assume that was the culprit for the massive leaks. The napkin on my table had dirt on it that had fallen from the ceiling. The cold roll was inexplicably served to me piping hot from the microwave (wtf?). ever tasted microwaved rice paper? It was hard as a rock and inedible; I still have no idea how that was sent out like that. I had it taken off of the bill without issue. The pho itself was ok but the thinly sliced beef was about a quarter inch thick which is too thick. I wasn't given enough bean sprouts to add to the soup and the lime I was given to squeeze into my pho was dried out and clearly left over from the previous day's service. I've eaten here probably 5-7 times since living here but I can't see myself going back. What a shame. read more

My husband and I have been going here for 20 years, but no more. What once used to be pretty darned good, has now turned into an "eewwww, get it out of my mouth, it's Gross!!!" experience. The last two times were an experience. We ordered the dumplings (steamed), and got fried. When we mentioned it, the owner's daughter who's taken over came out and yelled at us. (Lady, the picture is right there on your menu), when coming over for our orders, we asked for more time to make up our minds. She just stood there staring at us until we ordered. Very uncomfortable. Shoot forward to tonight. The noodles in both out dishes were cooked to the point of mushiness where they were disintegrating. My shrimp and pork sate soup with clear rice noodles turned out to be pretty disgusting and not what I ordered. It was not sate, but clear, flavorless broth. Mushy chopped up pork, missing bean sprouts and cilantro. It took everything in me not to throw it away. (Take out). Instead I doctored with cilantro from our garden, salt, and red pepper flakes. It made it palatable after I picked all the slimy overcooked mush called noodles out of my soup. My husband got a used to be favorite. The noodles are supposed to be fried. Instead, they arrived clumped in an overcooked mush pile. Gross. Everything just has gone way, way down hill since Mama has left town. Thanks to Yelp. I found this restaurant that's only 1 mile from my office. Went in and ordered a shrimp roll and a beef & meatball pho. It was so delicious. Their pho is different from the pho I am used to but it was all good. The price is very reasonable and the owner is definitely friendly!! Would definitely go again during my next business trip. read more

I've been going to LIttle Saigon for almost 12 years now. It's by far one of my favorite places to eat. The soft shrimp rolls are fresh and the sauce could be put on anything. I normally stick with the Pho and I have never been disappointed. I take friends there regularly and they are always wanting to go back. The lady that works there knows me by name and is always very nice to her customers. The only downside to this place is it's outside appearance. A lot of people I know think the place is closed! It most certainly isn't and should be a regular visit for anyone in the Dayton/Kettering area. read more

Let's just put it this way....looks can be very deceiving. When I first saw Little Siagon on my way to school, I thought that this was visually the most unappealing restaurant that I have ever seen. The outside is very unsightly, but as I said before, looks can be deceiving. The pho at this whole in the wall is amazing. It brought me back to Philadelphia (If you have read any of my previous reviews, I talk about Philly a lot and the fabulous food there). I have had the beef, shrimp, and pork pho (I have been there 3 times now in the last 3 weeks). The soft shrimp rolls are the perfect appetizer and the pho is just the climax to a wonderful lunch. The staff looks to be all family and they are very kind. I think the woman is starting to recognize me because she pretty much knows what I order now. If you happen to be in Kettering (Lord knows why you would under normal circumstances), but this is definitely a restaurant I would recommend. Don't let the outside deter you in any way....the food makes up for the appearance. read more

My friend and I were out and thinking about going to Lihn's. But. From where we were, it was far and we were hungry. She said this was a pretty good place. Key word: WAS. We began our journey there with glasses of water, which the waitress/hostess picked up by the tops of the glasses to move them before she brought the appetizer. We didn't have straws, so I found myself trying to drink from a spot she didn't touch. You just don't do that. The appetizer was lacking. There was some pork thing on there (I don't go to these places of my own accord, so I rely on my partner's assessment) that should have been grilled, but it was fried to a toughness that is indescribable. The spring rolls were good. She touched my glass. We shared an entree, as usually we go to places like this and if we order individually, it's way too much. Oops. Wrong call here; good thing we had a semi decent appetizer. I can see where there could be some charming atmosphere. I can see where the food could be good, though it was not busy and there seemed to be no rush to get us our food. The entree had beef, pork and shrimp. We could not eat the beef, becasue honestly, it tasted as if it were past spoiled. A very sour, nasty taste. We left that, fought over the few noodles that were on the plate and decided never, never again. Next time we're thinking about Lihn's, we'll just keep driving until we get there. The best part is....there's a sticker on the outside window proclaiming that it's a yelp favorite. I would love to meet THOSE people. read more

Great Vietnamese restaurant! Ladies many times tell you what the best way to eat dishes. The soft spring rolls with sauce are the favorite in our family. Don't let the outside of building fool you. Good food and good dinning experience! read more

Went here for a date and was completely surprised. Food was amazing. Atmosphere I don't believe really matters. Its nice but you can tell most of their energy goes toward the food not an interior decorator. Fantastic all around mom and pop place. read more

Kind of a dingy little place, but the food is good and reasonably priced. Not a ton of places you can find faux-meat dishes in Dayton, so that's cool. Wish they had more of an online presence so it was easier to glance at their menu and see they're kind of weird hours. read more

Food is good. Service is better. Don't let location turn you off. Try Bún riêu a Vietnamese meat rice vermicelli soup. Bún riêu cua is served with tomato broth and topped with crab or shrimp paste. The soft shrimp rolls are a must as well. read more

Little Saigon is THE BEST Vietnamese food in Dayton,hands down.The outside is mint green and looks a little shabby..but I wouldnt have it any other way.Inside the environment is clean,nice and very inviting..small but perfect.It is family owned,and the staff are the most wonderful sweet people I've ever been serviced by.They sincerely care about your service and are so appreciative of your business.They want you to enjoy your meal,and feel at home in their establishment.Now onto the food!..Not only does their huge menu offer pages of meat fair..this is also a vegetarian/vegan's paradise! 3 pages of meat free goodness.Tofu/veggie chicken/veggie beef/Mock duck are all available.Soft rolls are delicious and so fresh.Fried spring rolls are unmatched in the area.The Pho is wonderful and they are more than happy to give you more of any items you desire.They offer cilantro in their side dish,but if you ask for basil,they will happily bring you some.The vermicelli salads are huge and full of delicious flavors and fresh vegetables.For vegetarians try to 242 crispy.You will crave it forever.They are crispy egg noodles.but theres a soft rice version for vegans..however the vermicelli tofu salad which is vegan is hard to not order once you've tried it. Their side soups are interesting and delicious.I ate here 7 years ago when i was still a carnivore and loved it then.Cant get any fresher,more traditional,and incredible hospitality than Little Saigon.Absolutely love this place.Ive been to the few other pho restaurants here in dayton.NOTHING can compare to this place.Its a must.Also its incredibly cheap!!!No reason not to go! read more
