They say you try a restaurant for the good food and return for the good service. That's exactly it, the best service I've had. The restaurant owner was so kind and really helpful with the menu. I had the egg rolls which were great, packed with pork! I had the Bun Bo Hue, which was decent. I also had their stir fry dish which was delicious!!! Like everyone says dont judge this book by its cover- the outside is not impressive but the food sure is. Recently they updated the decor and got new silverware and plates etc, this really helps with the feel of the inside now and there's nothing I can complain about. The food is always, consistently delicious, it has a freshness and homemade taste that's great. I love the soft shrimp rolls, egg rolls are great, egg drop soup is better than any Chinese restaurant in the area. There are literally dozens of entrees to choose from, I love the stir fried noodles. They're just as good at the Chinese dishes as their Vietnamese dishes which is quite impressive. This is by far my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. It is family owned, and the owners sister-in-law greets every guest and remembers you when you return. She has always recommended meals for me, and has never steered me wrong. From their amazing spicy meatball pho, to their thick spicy fried noodles, everything is delectable. This place was hard to review. I wanted to give it 4 stars, but i cant. Here's the atory. The place is this ugly green buildinf, you cant miss it. This doesnt really matter though. Just makes it easy to find. At 1145 i was their only customer. Not too surprising, but still a little odd. You can order the rolls one at a time, which is great. The fried roll was like an egg roll wrapper filled with almost cha gio innerds. The fish sauce was sparae and overly filled with carrot. Way too much carrotness. The shrimp summer rolls have ahrimp and pork, which is great, and the insides were pretty good. A good bit of noodle, shrimp, and greenery. I got the pho bo tai. I was confused for a minute. Wasnt sure what i was orderinf, as ive always seen it referred to as pho tai. Maybe its the well done flank version, i thought. I asked for the meat on the side, as i always do and got an odd look in response, making me feel sure it waa the well done flank. To my pleasant surprize they brought out a pho tai with the meat on the side. A few things caught me by surprise immediately. That meat is very thick and large slices, those noodles are odd, and that broth tastes...different! The noodles are oddly thick and flat, not like normal pho noodles. The broth, i nailed it down, has lime juice in it by default, instead if just kn on the side. Finally, no basil is given on the fresh side plate, or jalapenos. The noodles in the Pho tastes INTERESTING. It probably came from kitchen leftovers. The size of the food is too small. The size of the pho was half of the size in other Viet places. And they don't have the coffee on the menu. So why don't tell the customer in advance?? Why don't you remove it from the menu? The presentation of the food is horrible. I probably couldn't live without Asian food at this point in my life, and Little Saigon most definitely has its place. A huge selection (it's own menu in fact) of vegetarian food and a lot of authentic stuff. The veggie satay is my favorite, and try some of the spicy chili sauce on the table, it makes everything better. They are friendly and although my fiance did have a dispute with one of the women over thick vs thin (which evidently is fried vs not) noodes, this is a place we love. This is THE best Vietnamese restaurant around. We have been going here for about 7 years. We drive 50 minutes, but the food and friendliness make it well worth the drive. We especially love the sauté chicken noodle soup with vegetables, summer roll with fresh raw vegetable and salad with noodles and fried spring rolls on top. We usually eat here once a month and then take a to go order so that we can have their food for a coupe of days. Do not judge this hole in the wall restaurant without trying it! There's a nice variety on the menu and the service was excellent. It was the food that brought me down. Everything was decent, but nothing was as good as other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. The fried butterfly chicken and butterfly shrimp appetizers were bland (and the shrimp was overcooked). The fried shrimp cake with sweet potatoes was okay, but not outstanding. My Pho showed promise, but the noodles were NOT the normal rice noodles you get in authentic restaurants. The noodles were too wide and too tough. We passed on dessert. This is my first Yelp review, I'm glad to say it is a positive one. Believe what you hear about the spring rolls. I tried an order of both steamed and fried rolls. They are outstanding. They included a dipping sauce that was both tasty and unnecessary. The spring rolls are delicious with or without the sauce. For my entree, I ordered the Deluxe Pan Fried Crispy Egg Noodles with shrimp and squid. After an admittedly confusing phone conversation with the employee taking my order (note: I called in this order for take out), I realized that they no longer include squid, so I just had shrimp. That was somewhat disappointing, but nevertheless this was a very good entree. The taste was just out of this world. It was worth it. The pork fried rice was virtuous in both quantity and quality. The rice included generous portions of large, tender chunks of pork. (Sorry, wish I could come up a more appetizing phrase for "large, tender chunks of pork.") The price for the pork fried rice may seem exorbitant on the menu, but I assure that it is commensurate with the portion size. I wish they offered a smaller portion for a smaller price, and maybe they do. I didn't inquire about this. The service was outstanding. This delicious meal was ready for me in less than 20 minutes. I am ashamed to say that that I have lived only a mile from this restaurant for over 10 years, and this is my first visit. I will be back. read more

I got the standard pho here and it was good, but not great. As another reviewer mentioned, there is no basil with the pho and there is something else that's missing in the broth. I have sentimental attachment to Little Saigon. For a long time the only viable Vietnamese joint in town. I had my first soft rolls here...bean thread noodles, shrimp. Fresh herbs wrapped in softened ricepaper. My fav here is still the vermecellI lemongrass salad...layers of chicken, onion, noodles, bean sprouts and lettuce served with nuoc mam, the condiment of Vietnam. Be prepared for a small living room like dining area...really. More like Saigon than Ohio. In the Dayton area, this is hands down the best place to go to for Vietnamese food. The outside does look a bit shabby to the point where I initially wondered if they were a closed-down business, but once you step in, it's actually pretty decent inside. Our server was very nice and friendly (a refreshingly different experience from the other Vietnamese restaurant in the area). Their spring rolls appetizers are super crunchy and very tasty--it makes me want to try their vermicelli with mini spring rolls dish next time. For my main dish, I had pho with beef slices and meatballs. I do miss the tendon and tripe and all those extra pieces that I'm used to getting with pho at Vietnamese restaurants back in the northeast, but I guess not many people around here would eat that kind of stuff. The quality of the beef slices and meatballs, however, make up for it--these beef slices here were more flavorful than I'm used to, and the meatballs were absolutely amazing. They were seriously the best meatballs I've had in pho anywhere, including Vietnamese restaurants in major cities like NY and Boston. I'll definitely be back. read more
