This hidden hole in the wall has such a welcoming vibe, and the staff was attentive and kind, making sure we had everything we needed. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Ummmmmm, sometimes my "go for the hole-in-the-wall" strategy works, and sometimes... not as well as it should. There are some FINE choices here in the area for Vietnamese food, most of which I've tried at least once, but I decided to give this less "glitzy" place a chance, in hopes of a true international culinary "adventure," and a worthy "V" entry into my year-long quest to cook and/or sample at least 1 cuisine from A-Z. Some might worry about "dive" appearance of this place, but that never bothered me at all. I was greeted by the sweet, older woman (owner/manager?) who took my order, misheard me (I think...) and brought me one incorrect appetizer (and told me I would like what she brought me better than what I ordered, just "a few" $$ more!!) No worries, she was doing the best she could, but she quickly became TOO busy once I wasn't the only customer in the dining room (on a Friday night). Got my pho, which was ok, but it tasted "off," maybe just a bad night/batch. I sort of felt rushed to get done, but again, that was probably due to how busy they got, and this woman having to be responsible for all the tables... I might just return again, try something else (as much as I love a good, steamy bowl of pho...) and give this place another chance. A decent locally owned business. The owners were very polite and shared their stories and the service was super nice. Tried their spicy soup, dumplings and spring rolls. All of them were super good. Got the spicy noodles and it was spicy and flavorful. Will go for their Pho next time. Overall a very good place. read more

I feel bad for writing this because I wanted to support a local pop shop but I would avoid this place. First thing walking in smelled like bad oil grease. The bathroom was gross and no soap. I got the special pho and banh xeo... the pho broth was brown and that's not what it's suppose to look like... there was so much MSG that my tongue still burns after, the meat was cut up pieces of steak? Not good. The banh xeo was just bad, it was soggy with old brown bean sprouts and served with just half iceberg lettuce... I didn't finish any of it. The old man was the server and the cook, he was nice but the glasses serving water was dirty too... sorry yall but would not recommend. read more

At first I had went there and ordered food, unfortunately I had learned that a satae broth is not for me however the server quickly made accommodations I helping me find out what I needed! The plain appearance of the restaurant's exterior is very misleading. The food here is amazing. The hospitality is always above and beyond what you would expect to receive. I had no idea this little place existed! A friend told me about it so I went to try it. Let me tell ya, the pho was just what I needed (when you go a little too hard on New Year's Eve haha). I had the spicy veggie pho with spring rolls. The veggie pho wasn't totally what I expected because the broth was darker in color as opposed to the usual clearer broth. Nonetheless it was great. The owner is such a friendly woman who makes you feel so welcomed! You can definitely tell who are her regulars but she treats all customers with the same politeness and homey vibes. This hole in the wall is legitimately delicious! From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and feel like you are walking into someone's home. I have tried many things and they are all good but my go to favorite is the sate chicken pho. The sate broth is darker and spicier than the regular broth and it has a great depth of flavor. I usually ask for extra spice too and the extra kick is just right. Their crispy egg rolls are not to be missed and they come with two in an order. I could split them but I have also been known to eat both of them and didn't even feel bad about it! The vermicelli "salad" with fried egg rolls is another outstanding dish and since it is a salad it is definitely healthy, LOL! Their iced coffee is another great item and I usually like to order one to go as my dessert. The sweetened condensed milk with the strong coffee is so good. Don't let the exterior fool you, this is a spot worth trying! read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet - it is one of my favorite lunch spots! No matter what I always start with the fried spring rolls - they are magical!! Also there are two in an order - so you could split, but who wants to do that? My two favorite entrees would be either their sate beef pho or sate beef stir fry, depending on my mood. Their sate broth for the pho is already spicy and they'll make it extra spicy if you ask. The beef sate comes with stir fried peppers and onions and fried rice in a brown sauce, along with a bowl of their soup of the day! If your feeling like an afternoon pick me up you must get a Vietnamese iced coffee to go. It can take awhile to prepare so order it when your food comes and it will be ready when you leave. what's happened? There was a older lady. the owner at the time, haven't seen her in awhile. Sure do miss her. The place isn't as good as it used to be. Not as much care for the customers anymore. At least I feel that way. I always get the same thing. One of those things are the shrimp rolls. Usually 2 to 3 orders of that along with my main dish. Anyway, the last three times I ate there it was through door dash.Yhe shrimp isn't as fresh as it should be. The last time I ordered which is the last time I will ever order the inside of the rolls veggies were brown on the edges and the shrimp tasted taint. Yes I did complain about it on the door dash app. No response. Probably will not order there again. Shame , had been going there almost 30 years. read more

I just moved in town and wanted to try some of the local Pho. I dated a Vietnamese girl for over 2 years so I wasnt expecting much from some place in Dayton. Well I was wrong, this Truly mom and pop place blew my mind. The food is authentic and traditional. The Pho was tasty and number 96, I have no idea what it was, my gf ordered it, but it was amazing! The only maybe downside was the noodles they choose to put in the Pho. The were flat and thick. Not like the normal pasta I'm use to with Pho. Ether way, the service was great. I will return over and over again! PS it's a hole in the wall place. The outside makes it look dirty/shady, but man oh man! You are in for a delight! read more

It's ok. Restaurant was recommended by a local person I met on the plane. She raved about the spring rolls. Well, she was right about the spring rolls - very simple and light. Get one of those! My entree was the vegetables with tofu in sate over thick noodles. Noodles were really yummy, tofu was pretty well prepared. Bot the veggies were just about all cauliflower and onions and the sauce was just so-so. Even Thai hot, it was kind of tame. Not bad, just ok. I have family in Dayton, so whenever I make my way eastward, I frequent Little Saigon. She ain't a looker but I don't go for the looks. I go for what's in store inside. I like all the food I've tried. I could eat the goi cuon (spring rolls) for days. Pho, mi, veggie duck (highly recommended), rice dishes, bun, you name it they're all good. Little Saigon is 100% authentic and the owner is very sweet. She'll become your friend if you're a regular. IIRC, no tax if you order take-out. read more

I love Little Saigon like nobody's business. It was my first love. Ok, so it wasn't like I hadn't consumed mad quantities of various other asian cuisine before, but it was the first time I had Vietnamese food - and it was fantastic. After my first trip here I was a regular for months and months on end before leaving the Ohio area. I've had more than my share of Lemongrass Chicken and Bun with imperial rolls courtesy of Little Saigon. I'm now living in California and I still eat Vietnamese food regularly. Would Little Saigon hold up to San Francisco's impressive list of Vietnamese power houses (i.e. Tu Lan, Dragonfly, that cafe off of Clement Street near Green Apple Books?)? Honestly, I don't know - but I know that Little Saigon will always hold a special place in my heart. Long live Little Saigon! read more

Hello magical banh mi sandwiches... I didn't expect to find such good Vietnamese food in this location. I'm not fond of Lihn's bistro, and this was my second time here. (The first time was years ago and I don't remember my experience.) The inside is a bit old looking. But I knew from the smell of the restaurant as I walked in that the food was going to be good. Most everyone in our group was vietnamese, so the waitress kept with that dialect. Unfortunately for me, I can't speak it despite being so, so there was a bit of a disconnection there. :'( When I ordered my banh mi #28 she suggested that it was dry and asked if I wanted some soup. I said yes at first...but then realized she was upselling me. When I questioned her about that, she laughed in broken English and told me it was her job. It was quite hilarious. But I didn't get the soup. Nice try. Everyone else ordered pho. ...I tried a sip of my boyfriend's and it was flavored quite nicely. Ginseng... lemongrass... it was very good broth. I can't get over how delicious my sandwich was. I finished well before everyone else and looked around at their food... realizing I was still hungry. So I ordered another one. And yes, it was just as delicious as the first! That's how I know it was good... I didn't slow down until it was completely devoured. If this restaurant was a bit closer, I'd probably order this sandwich SO much. At 4.95 each, they're also very cheap. Yum. ^.^ read more

I've had way way better. The soup flavor was rather sweet in my opinion. My soup came out luke-warm, there was a huge lack of freshness. I wouldn't be surprised if they use pho packets you get at Kroger. I imagined my soup being ready for me just waiting patiently 24 hours before my arrival. The chicken was dried out and reminded me of mall Chinese food. My fried roll was the greasiest I've had in a while, it sat in a small pool of grease on my plate. I also had some cleanliness concerns, it just seemed grimy overall. A table next to where I sat (which was too close for comfort by the way) was cleaned with some sort of bleach spray bottle. It was over kill and definitely not a sanitizing solution. Bottom line is the food was meh, the place was bleh, and eh I'll not be back. read more

Rated G for being too glorious!!! Highly underrated, excellent service and glorious food! Everything tastes authentic and home made. I've been here many times and I'm just fortunate this restaurant is only 4 minutes away from work. The only thing that would make it more perfect is if it was walking distance of 4 minutes. The lady is super sweet and she does everything she can to make sure you are taken care of. She almost feels like an aunt - it's unreal how much she cares about ensuring you're happy with the food. IMO I think their iced coffee is fantastic and is the only thing I look forward to besides pho while working in this area. I love this place and I'm glad I found this restaurant on yelp. We had the worse experience here...the older lady that waited on us had a nasty cough and she was extremely unsanitary, she didn't stop and wash her hands after coughing in them and touching her hair. Secondly, there was hair in the soup my friend ordered. The lady goes to get the chef and he stated "the hair belonged to a woman". I refused to pay for my soup that I couldn't enjoy after seeing the hair. We stopped eating and left, I will never return. read more

While this little shop doesn't look like much on the outside, the food makes all teh difference. There are a selection of appetizers and fried noodle dishes, but the real stars are the soups. Ranging from the chicken and rice porridge to the duck and mushroom weekend special, these are packed full of flavor and will leave you questioning your definition of comfort food. The there are a variety of meats (or veggie options), noodles, and soup bases. Some soups are spicy and some aren't. The owners will give you a funny look if you suggest making a dish spicy that doesn't come that way. I always say that the chef knows best, so I eat it they way they tell me too. One word of warning: the spicy food here is the spiciest i've ever had, so try this with caution. Also, if you have cash, the would prefer you pay with that. read more

An unassuming restaurant in what looks like a little shack. The family that runs the place has been there for over 30 year and are super nice.
