    Catfish Taco

I was heading to Yellow Springs for an event hosted by Dave Chappel and wanted to find a spot fit for foodie. Hi Hat nailed it!! It is a cozy and hip spot in downtown Springfield, surrounded by large bright spaces and really cool murals. My friend and I were warmly greeted as we entered the restaurant. I opted for the Catfish Tacos (yum!) and split the tempura green beans (double yum!) with my friend. If you ever are ever in the area, GET HERE! Cheers!

I will definitely try Hi Hat Social again now that I understand the menu and vibe. It's a forward Asian fusion restaurant that mixes different flavors. Some highlights included Japanese-style noodles with Indian butter chicken curry. My partner enjoyed it, but the melted cheese on top of the chicken threw him off. I had the Hi Hat smash burger with Japanese mayo, and the kimchi sauce with American cheese which was out of this world--definitely a flavor bomb I didn't expect. Then there were the Kimchi wings; I was excited after reading the menu that the wings had been marinated in kimchi with a cilantro-lime sauce. These didn't quite slap the way I'd hoped. While the wings were cooked perfectly, the kimchi flavor was just wasn't there. The service was great, and my X Espresso martini was solid. You can tell a lot of work went into the menu, but I'm definitely better prepared for the fusion aspect.

WONDERFUL newer choice for some SUPER creative, eclectic, not gonna find it anywhere else, DELICIOUS food!! I've been here twice (need to go back again SOON!!) and everything I've tried (or have seen on other people's plates...) is WONDERFUL!! Ambitious, creative, mostly reasonably priced, with fast, friendly service, what's not to love?!? I was sad to see Seasons, the previous restaurant at this location, close, but Hi*Hat is an AWESOME "replacement." Great cocktails--- The first time I went, it was winter and I was really craving an after dinner coffee drink, and although nothing was "officially" on the menu, I asked the bartender to just "go rogue" with a coffee based drink. What he prepared was SO GOOD, I'd be happy to have it every night of the year, all year long!! My most recent visit, in the HEAT of the summer, included a VERY refreshing Vietnamese salad with added on breaded chicken. So flavorful and definitely a meal in itself!! My dining companion had the butter chicken w/udon noodles, which looked so wonderful that I just simply MUST get back and order it before they switch up their seasonal menu again... Our only slight "glitch" during a busy Saturday dinner was that out scallion pancake appetizer never arrived. Once they realized it was overlooked, they brought it out "to go," and took it off the bill. WTG, Hi-Hat, thanks for making it right. That scallion pancake is DELICIOUS, btw, but MUCH better enjoyed "in house" vs to go... Enjoy this unpretentious spot for great music, wonderful food and drinks, and cozy decor right in the HEART of the "Field of Springs." YUMMMMM!!

Great service, excellent food and drinks all in a cozy atmosphere. Would go again. This would be a great spot to take out of town guests.

Fabulous! The decor, music, and ambiance were very groovy. The food and cocktails were most excellent! We arrived during 'social time' and were surprised with a very reasonably priced list of cocktails, appetizers, and meals for this special time of the day. We started with several well made and delicious cocktails, the beer batter fried green beans and the okonomiyaki. The appetizers were so delicious and flavorful. For our meals we got the fried catfish taco and the fried catfish bahn mi as well as two more cocktails. The portions were huge and the punch of flavor in the foods was exhilirating. Our daughters got the buttered udon with focaccia and the chicken wings and fries. I got a few nibbles of each of their enormous piles of food and they were just as awesome as the adult dishes. We will definitely be back to dive more into the dishes we didn't try and enjoy the atmosphere even more. What an amazing find!!

Well, my bad - their website includes multiple accessible places to park in and around the village. That said, we got it, and decided to belly up to the bar for a better look at the offerings and the place in general. Matt O was our server. I started with a delicious Scottish Ale, and my companion had a glass of wine. Prices are reasonable. My companion ordered and raved about the Shepherd's Pie. I had Bangers & Mash - sausage (3 pieces) with imported horseradish mustard, mashed potatoes, gravy, delicious baked beans. It went perfectly with my pint! It was a warm afternoon so the glass garage doors were opened wide and folks were eating and drinking outside in the beer garden too. The vibe was loud, lively and very positive. Music was old school British Invasion '60s style. Good times seemed to be had by everyone. We finished with a locally produced Chocolate Rum Cake - it was rum forward and smooth, dark chocolatey! Highly recommended.

The atmosphere was charming, the décor was exactly what we were hoping for, and the menu felt genuinely true to British cuisine rather than a themed interpretation. Unfortunately, our visit took place on a colder day, and the large garage-style door connecting to the outdoor seating area was left open. As a result, the entire restaurant felt quite cold throughout our meal. Since we were dining with our infant son, this made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience and was our biggest disappointment of the evening. In fact, it was cold enough that we kept our coats on throughout dinner, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the atmosphere the restaurant had worked so hard to create. We also ordered the fish and chips. The quality of the fish was very good, and it was clearly prepared with care. However, the portion size left something to be desired. The meal included only one medium-sized piece of fish, which felt small for a dinner entrée, especially considering the price point. While the food itself was enjoyable, we were hoping for a more substantial serving. Despite these issues, The Last Queen delivered on atmosphere, authenticity, and food quality. I would be willing to give it another try, particularly during warmer weather, as I believe the temperature and comfort level had a significant impact on our overall experience.

Our server was very nice and personable throughout the meal. He did forget to bring silverware and napkins for the appetizers, so we had to ask for them, but otherwise the service was friendly. We started with the chips, salsa, and queso. The chips were fresh, crisp, and not overly salty. The salsa tasted fresh and homemade, and the queso had a nice kick that kept me coming back for more. I also tried the street corn. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite item. It tasted more like corn that had been poured straight from a can rather than fresh roasted street corn. The birria empanadas were good, with a crispy shell and flavorful filling. The sauce served with them was delicious. My only surprise was that I expected the cheese, onion, and cilantro to be inside the empanadas, but most of those toppings were served on the plate instead. For my entrée, I ordered the bowl with half chicken and half shrimp. The shrimp was the star of the dish. It had a nice crispy coating, was seasoned well, and had great flavor. The chicken was a little under-seasoned in comparison, but the portions were generous and they definitely didn't skimp on the protein. My dining companion ordered the California Burrito. The presentation was impressive, and it was definitely a substantial portion. However, we were surprised to find green beans inside, which wasn't something either of us expected in a California Burrito. Overall, the restaurant was clean, the portions were generous, and there were definitely some highlights. The fresh salsa, queso, shrimp, empanada sauce, and portion sizes stood out the most for me. While a couple of dishes missed the mark for my personal taste, I'd be willing to return and try some of the tacos or other menu items. Rating: 3.5/5

I opted for the Takoyaki app which was tasty and not so burning hot that it scorched the roof of your mouth. Also the right amount of mayonnaise as opposed to often an excess. The Ramen Flight was fun in principle but I wouldn't do it again. I unwisely and perhaps naively assumed there would be mini versions of the full serving of Tonkotsu broth with Mayo, Thai curry and Szechuan with scallions. But it really is just the broth and ramen. Expected the Szechuan to have some heat and peppery lip buzz but did not. The Thai curry was super salty. Just missed some option of veggies and protein. Finally I would suggest not sitting near the front near the stairs to the kitchen. The spot has competing music soundtracks with two different play lists battling between your two ears.
