I went into the restaurant having already reserved a table for 5-6. I am physically disabled and have neck and back (severe pain) issues. They sat me in the back, where it is extremely dark, and the seats are excessively hard. I asked to be moved to a table in the front with softer seating, not to mention better lighting. The waitress refused to move me. The owner then also refused to move me, stating that "a party of eight may come in". It never happened the whole time we were there. In fact hardly anyone else came in the whole time I was visiting. I would think a local business that has struggled in the past would be more accommodating, especially on a weekday when customer traffic was extemely light. In short, I was treated very rudely. I would add that the waitress was very condescending. When I told her our party may not be able to stay due to the seating situation, she said "I don't care". I have had plenty of experience in customer service-related jobs in my past. I never would have been so rigid and rude if a customer had shared with me a similar request. read more

Among the best restaurants in Urbana. Of course there aren't many. This is the best place to get a cocktail and something ethnic that's not pizza. It has a pretty simple menu. Most things are fairly priced. I already ate so I just needed a drink. It's the only place in town to get a craft cocktail. They don't have a specific liquor menu. It has a list of specials on the board. They had a few good sounding ones. I had an Ultimate Margarita. This is about $10 because it's made from better stuff. Inside the restaurant is clean even when it's busy. It wasn't extremely crowded but it was loud. One of the livelier atmospheres in Urbana. read more

First time visiting and it will not be our last. I had the walleye with mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots in a lemon butter sauce and my friend had the shrimp tikka masala....both meals were served with a side salad. Everything tasted amazing!!! We split the bread pudding for dessert which is one of my favorites but this was the most incredible one I've ever tasted!!! PLEASE DO NOT SKIP THIS DESSERT. A surprise in Urbana, found with the help of Yelp (and friends and family... ) I had the pretzel-bun burger, with chips, and potato soup (a soup of the day.) The soup was very good; maybe I say that because it's a lot like the way I make it. The burger was pretty good, and the chips were a nice touch. Made there, I think; the other obvious local choice would be Mumford's, but I don't think that's what they were. Service was friendly and professional. Wish I'd asked the waitress's name... My companion and I ate there on May 31, 2019. Simply put, we had some of the best meals we had in a long time. This is a family owned and operated restaurant: Father, mother, and two sons. We started with salads; what can you say about salads? However, the grape vinaigrette I had with mine was simply scrumptious. I had the French onion soup; it was the best I've had outside of my own kitchen that I can remember. The cheese had just the right amount of gooey and char. My companion couldn't stop raving about her clam chowder; the amount of clam meat in it was extraordinary. And the taste was divine. My lamb chops were done to perfection, and the mash potatoes and mixed vegetables added just the right amount of balance. My companion's pasta carbonara likewise elicited high praise from her. The entire meal was cooked by the sous chef, the 13-year old younger son of the owner. The older son was our waiter. It's only a half hour drive from where I live; I'll be back there for sure. read more

An excellent addition to a town that lacks in culture. The dishes are a nice mix of many influences, big one being Indian; hence the name fusion. Prices are fitting for the meals and I will say you won't leave unhappy. The wine and craft beer selections are a nice added bonus as well. I've eaten here a couple times at lunch and as much as I want to like this place I just can't. For the quality and quantity I just find them way over priced. I've had meals that were not bad and others that I just couldn't understand how they could get it so wrong. Luckily, I'm an amazing cook and can honestly say I'm happy cooking at home for less money and much better taste. The wait staff is always friendly so that's a plus and the setting is nice. The addition to outside tables is nice. But, if you're looking for gourmet food I would suggest a drive to the city. read more

Fusion 40.83 combines hilarious pretentiousness, poor preparedness and awful kitchen staff in a unique and exciting way. Their first misstep was not having four separate things we attempted to order in stock (Risotto, Wellington, a beef dish and a beer selection). Then they burnt one of our sides and forgot to recook it. An hour and a half later they informed us that they had forgotten to cook one of our entrees and that person would have to wait even longer. By this point the entire restaurant was full of smoke from the stellar kitchen staff's latest incompetence. Our disingenuous waiter told us we would get half price on the dish they forgot to cook and then four minutes later he shows up with a dish he 'stole from another order' and decided that negated our right to half price. The dish he provided had been special ordered and lacked part of the listed ingredients (mushrooms) but our party was too exasperated to quibble. A full two and a half hours after we arrived we got to pay exorbitant prices and a mandatory gratuity for a haphazard offering of our second choices. The food was good but not great, certainly not good enough to justify ludicrous service, pretentiousness and high end prices. They get two stars because I assume not everybody gets the awful service and the food was not bad but no force on Earth will get me back in that restaurant. read more

So fortunately I was able to try this place finally and give a review of the actual service and food. First thing I would like to say is that they had the hardest working bar and wait staff I had ever seen. Excellent service all around. The Brie was delicious they bake it fresh so it takes a little longer but definately worth it. I got two main courses they had fresh scallops in so I got that with mash potatoes and mixed vegetables plus I got the Hemingway because he is one of my all time favorite authors. It was a Caribbean pork chop which was amazing. For dessert I got bread pudding,which was again delicious just like the rest of the meal.The dessert was a good portion size. I would definately would recommend this place to anyone I know, but don't get to annoyed thinking it's open when it's not cause I warned you. read more

It was just "okay." Nothing remarkable other than it's in Urbana. Had it been in Springfield or Dayton, it would be just another trendy (a past trend) restaurant. Friday lunch (11:30) and the place was empty. Total of three tables, us included. After ordering it took a long time for the food to arrive (35+ minutes). Good news: chicken tandoori pita sandwich was good. As well as the chicken salad sandwich. "Okay" news: chicken and pepper wrap special was unremarkable but was lacking in any type of taste. Bad news: Crab bisque was inedible. Still can't get the taste out. I like seafood soups (lobster bisque, seafood chowders, etc). But this concoction, ugh. Not good. Waitress was attentive. The atmosphere is great. It is a cute restaurant that gets good marks for effort. The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating. She suggested the flank steak, and I was hoping for something marinated and seasoned. It came out bland, dry, and over cooked. The sauce on it was an instant brown gravy packet. My friend ordered crab cakes, and they were good. We got an appetizer of wild mushroom risotto which tasted like minute rice thrown in to chicken broth and canned mushrooms. This place has honestly been mostly pretty good. Most dishes are great and with very generous portions, though they are frequently out of specials and even regular menu items. The salmon salad with the chef's own dressing has always been wonderful and has become my go-to dish here. We've also had the pad thai, though I recommend you order it with more spice as it is too bland otherwise. The jalapeno cheese curds are a fun appetizer, and their seafood specials are generally quite exceptional. We were, however, disappointed on our last trip. My husband ordered the blackened swordfish special, which came served in two suspiciously frozen looking pieces. He was chowing down on one piece of fish and encouraged me to try a bite. I took a small forkful from the piece of fish from which he was not eating and was repulsed by the flavor, swishing water and beer in my mouth to get out what was, honestly, a rancid taste. My husband, confused, tried a bit of the fillet I had sampled, and he, too, made a grossed-out face. I tried his piece, which tasted okay. We brought this to the waitress's attention, and she returned a moment later to tell us that the chef had cut both pieces from one piece of fish. I was a little peeved by the response for 2 reasons: 1) the chef was standing, completely within our line of sight, in the kitchen not 15 feet away. If someone said something tasted spoiled, he should have come out himself, not sent the waitress back with an excuse; and 2) they didn't even knock even a bit off the price, even though we clearly left the foul piece of fish on the plate. We had never returned anything from the restaurant, and it's not like we went into the evening trolling for a discount (I mean, we didn't even ask), but come on. Maybe offer a cup of coffee on the house? This was, by and large, the only real problem we've had at this restaurant. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, with fresh flowers on the table daily from a local floral shop. Full bar, nice international offerings on the menu, and a nice rotation of daily specials. It's a bit on the pricey side, and I would recommend business casual attire, though it's not uncommon to see dudes in ball caps and blue jeans. All in all, I'd say give in a try for sure. read more

The food is generally pretty good except the salad...I really hate the salad. It is usually a good idea to ask them to ease up on the pepper as well unless you like a lot of it. Other than those minor things, food and beer selection is great for this area. read more
