My husband and I are well-experienced-not-so-young-eaters and "well seasoned" home cooks with a focus on local sourcing of quality products and one of our happiest food discoveries in 2020 was a remarkably delicious and professionally assembled Boise Bite meal kit offered through one of our favorite wineries, Telaya, as part of the winery's Friday Night Bites series. We expected the Boise Bite meal to be good given Telaya does everything with excellence as North Star and select food purveyor partners for events who do the same. But this meal exceeded our high expectations. BOISE BITE MEAL KITS @ TELAYA FRIDAYS: The menu changes each time and is published at Boise Bites web page, FB page and Insta. Order in advance and there is pandemic-safe pick up at Telaya;s easy to access parking lot on that Friday beginning at 3pm. The meal may require a small amount of cooking but it is simple stuff, directions are provided and all is professionally packaged to make using at home a breeze. Sized to serve 2 people, meal portions are ample and we had extras to repurpose for a meal the next day too. Price is $100 and includes a bottle of Telaya's excellent wine from of your choice from any in current release. Our recent meal kit included the following and paired beautifully with Telaya Wahluke Chardonnay: *Kale salad w/ marinated tomatoes & brioche croutons & Caesar dressing (one of the best of all time) *Succulent 8 oz bone in pork loin chops w/mustard herb bread crumbs *Perfectly seasoned farro in risotto style with mushrooms & pecorino *S'more's chocolate pudding trifle Note: these Friday meal kits sell out so order early with that in mind. https://boisebite.com/telaya-meal-kits EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED TO EVERYTHING ELSE: Were it not for Boise Bite being used by Telaya for the Friday Night Bites take away events, we would likely not have discovered them because they are identified as food truck and in the main we aren't food truck fans. But having been introduced to their food, we will both buy Boise Bite meal kits again if they continue this in 2021 and seek out the truck. If truck fare is anything like the meal kits then this is top quality eats on wheels. As high praise meant at first blush, I put Boise Bite possibility in the same class as Wild Plum for catering and if they were brick and mortar they might have potential land with top notch eateries like Madre Boutique Taqueria or Modern Bar & Restaurant for creativity and quality. And in all of those businesses, as in Boise Bite, pride of ownership shines. This review is for the new Boise Bite food truck…read more So, not sure where to start because the one liners almost write themselves. Boise Bite because the serving size is literally one bite of food? Maybe call the truck Boise Appetizer? Here's the deal, my wife and I rode our bikes out to WestVet in Garden City while on vacation because we heard this truck was going to be there and they had lobster rolls. On their Instagram page, they advertised 11-2 (thurs 7/23). We got to WestVet at 1145 and the truck was just pulling up and they promised they'd be ready by noon. Two young guys driving and we asked about the lobster roll which they promised would blow our mind. So...we took the bait and ordered two lobster rolls for $21 each along with one La Croix for $2. Tax and tip...$53 AT A FOOD TRUCK. My wife's name got called and we got the two boxes....I honestly thought they were empty. It felt like nothing was in them. My wife peeked in to look at the lobster roll and it was the saddest little thing I've ever seen. Seriously, take a hot dog bun like you'd get 10 of them for .99 cents and picture that...but then imagine the bun was 1/3 of that small ass size. Then imagine it opened up with lobster spread across 75% of it....and nothing else. It looked like somebody packed up their leftovers and put it in a box given how much food was actually there. Was the lobster roll good? Yep...it was a different take (dijonaise instead of mayo or butter) but it worked. Here's the deal tho. You can't just open a truck, rip-off your customers, and expect the margins you are making now to persist as you will literally have no repeat business. Learn to provide quality and value...even a side of potato chips or reducing the cost of the roll to match what you are actually serving will go a long ways towards building trust with your customers and repeat business. Or, ignore this paragraph and learn the hard way. Bottom line, I've warned all of you. The pictures on Instagram and FB are misleading, the amount of food you get is disappointing at best, and the prices you are going to pay are going to leave you dejected. Out of principle, I won't eat at Boise Bite again and I'd also encourage everyone to avoid until they figure out how to balance earning a living with pleasing customers.

It made the sandwich very hearty. The egg yolk was runny and jammy. The cheese fondue was rich and savory. The heirloom tomatoes added a nice freshness to the sandwich. All together it was a very thick sammy. All the flavors were fantastic but it did get overwhelming to eat after few bites. I enjoyed the fondue but it was a lot for me. The fondue is very rich and you add all the other elements and it gets to be too much. If I order this again, I'll probably order it without the fondue. There's already cheese in the sandwich so it was overwhelming with the cheese sauce added to it. My friend ordered the chipotle breakfast sandwich and it looked amazing. It was simple and it looked like something I would have really enjoyed vs what I had ordered. I did ask the gentleman in the food truck if they will have the curry noodles anytime soon. With the cold weather coming, they are anticipating the noodles too be back. I look forward to that! I haven't frequented many food trucks but this one has really set the bar high! I have visited this food truck several times but only purchased food once. The Tri-Tip Bowl, which is the item I want to try, is always sold out. In addition to the regular menu, they always have a few specials. These photos are from my visit on 10/31/20. Here is what I ordered: Choripan ($7) - This is a traditional sandwich with homemade chorizo sausage. I got the El Gaucho, which comes with lettuce and tomato. It is on homemade bread. While I enjoyed the homemade chorizo, which is completely different than Mexican or Basque chorizo, there was simply too much bread for me. This is a huge sandwich that can satisfy two. Empanadas ($2.50) - These are available in beef, chicken and veggie. I got one of each. I liked them all, but preferred the beef. They come with a side of chimichurri sauce. Alfajor ($1.50) - This is a traditional sandwich cookie filled with dulce de leeches, a creamy caramel confection made from milk and sugar. Caramel isn't my favorite, but anyone who enjoys it would like this. Flan Evita ($4.50) - This is basically Chocoflan, which is a combination of chocolate cake on the bottom with flan on top.
