Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi
Lea G.

What can I say besides that it was honestly overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time. I got the special summer bowl and it had so many different flavors that just did not hit the mark. The sauce was very bland and didn't stick out at all. Now on the good stuff, my Thai tea was really delicious and refreshing. The designs and graffiti look of the place were really cool as well. The highlight was the sandwich, my boyfriend absolutely loved and demolished it. And I thought it was really good as well. Service wasn't bad at all either. Wait time was a little long, but the portions were very big. If we do come back I will definitely be trying a different item.

Good food and quick service! The croquetas were absolutely delicious and melted in my mouth. I had one of the hottest jalapeños I've ever tasted in the bahn mi, so just be aware of the jalapeños. I am a fan of garlic, but the garlic noods were overpowered with garlic and didn't taste like much else.

Tofu Banh Mi

This was one of the better banh mi's I've had in a while. The tofu banh mi and the Thai tea were both delicious. I don't love food courts as a dinning experience typically but I'll deal with it for a sandwich like that.

Not long ago some friends of mine went to Basquenese and had their Pho and said it was good. So today I decided to go there before going to the movies to try it. Let me say that Basquenese does not disappoint. I've been all over town to search for the best pho and their Pho is seriously the best in town. If you're looking for pho, this is the place.

I was excited when I heard Basquenese opened up a storefront at the Warehouse and took my husband there for dinner this past Tuesday evening. I'm Vietnamese, so I was interested in seeing how this fusion would play out and went in blind to avoid spoilers. Unfortunately, Basquenese came up short. We ordered the Loaded Solomo Fries, Char Siu Bánh Mì, a side of Basque croquetas, and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It was $16 for the bánh mì - kind of crazy but ok, I was willing to pay it to support a local business. They also have a sign that warns you that the portions are big (which prob plays into menu pricing). Taking the subpar service out of the equation, the menu could use improvement. Let's start with the croquetas - delicious! Nothing but positive things to say there. The Vietnamese iced coffee had too much cream, so it ended up being more cream and less coffee. The Loaded Solomo Fries were topped with chunks of pork loin and the fries were drenched in this white sauce. Pork was good but those flavors didn't mesh with their white sauce - the pork marinade and that heavy, creamy sauce was not it. Everything on the bánh mì but the char siu was great. Pickled veggies, fresh cucumber and cilantro - fantastic! The cucumbers were even peeled the traditional way where some of the skin was gone! Also, this is me nitpicking but I prefer julienned over sliced cucumbers in bánh mì. The char siu was good but could've used more roasting. Not sure if this was their part of their branding, but there were literal chunks of char siu stuffed in there. I get adding in more protein to maybe justify the price tag, but there's a fine balance between quality and quantity. I'd be ok paying the same amount if the char siu was sliced and neatly packed in. Presentation is extremely important in Vietnamese dishes and this was not giving. It just felt sloppy and excessive. Service was subpar. The cashier was rude and patronizing so I matched his energy. Not much else to say there. All in all, I really wanted to like Basquenese but walked away disappointed instead.

Chicken Garlic Noods (Small size)

We ate at the Basquenese at 'The Warehouse Food Hall' in Boise. Nice menu with a pretty great selection of Basque and Vietnamese cuisine. Well-priced and the portions are HUGE! Made fresh -- there was a 25-30 minute wait for our order, so don't be in a rush. The Chicken Garlic Noods were fantastic, I ordered the small size and had 2 entire meals. The chicken was lightly fried and there were a lot of pieces, tons of noodles and so much yummy garlic! Lots of seating in the common area, and several coffee and drink places as well if you're not interested in their beverage menu. Parking is on the street or in a garage just a few steps away.

Barbie is amazing! I've loved everything I tried from her and the seasonal specials like the lemongrass summer bowl and the meatball banh mi are icing on the cake. She's been the best with some of my weird requests. I appreciate her and the staff always being so kind about it.

Mama's chicken with noodles

We got to hit up Basquenese today at the Warehouse. After hearing about them opening a store front, of course we had to try it out. It's neat that they have Basque options and Vietnamese options to pick from. You can smell the garlic that they were cooking with for the Vietnamese options. It smelled heavenly! The menu looked really good but we decided to try Vietnamese food today. We grabbed the Mama's Chicken with noodles and the char sui banh mi. They did not hold back on portions! The noodles were piling out of the bowl and the char sui was falling out of the bread. The bread for the char sui was fresh! The exterior was crunchy and the middle was so soft it was stuffed with char sui, pickled carrots, cilantro, cucumber and jalapenos. It's a beautiful piece of art looking at it. I appreciated all the flavors and textures of the banh mi. The heat, the savory and the bread all married well together. Unfortunately, the char sui for me didn't work. I was expecting traditional char sui and it didn't taste anything like it. With that being the main character of the sandwich and having a different expectation of the char sui, I just couldn't like the sandwich. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good sandwich but it didn't hit for me. The Mama's chicken was tasty! The chicken was so tender and savory. The noodles were stir fried in garlic and other seasonings as well. Since they use udon noodles, it is a lot of noodles that they give you. They are chewy and such a good base for the sauce that they use cause it soaks up all the goodness. The staff is 50/50. The gal that helped us and I'm assuming the owner were nice. They gentleman that helped me with my food when it was ready could work on his customer service. They had 8 to 9 trays out with 3 of them with food on them. Trying to not grab the wrong tray I simply asked if this was my tray. Clearly that was the wrong question to ask cause he was rude with his response. I know you're busy but I wasn't trying to not to grab the wrong tray since they were similar. I guess I should have known better. Overall, it was an ok experience. It will be a while before I would try them again. After that kind of encounter, it has left a bitter taste in my mouth. It's the whole experience for me, food and customer service. I don't want to be treated like that again.

Garlic noodles, chorizo croquetas, and Mama's Chicken

I am a regular at this spot and I especially love the garlic noodles and chicken. The food is on par with the street and savory foods in the Bay Area, California. This is the only place in Boise where you can get Asian style popcorn chicken, and it's just so mouthwatering and flavorful. They also don't skimp out on the garlic at all and the udon noodles are so firm and chewy. The chorizo croquetas are also a super tasty snack. The service from the crew every time I'm here keeps me coming back!

The OG Basque sandwich is not just one of the best things in Boise, it's one of the best things I've ever eaten.

The menu has a few things you can order from burritos, tacos, tortas and other fun items. We ordered a Carne Asada Burrito and it has rice, beans, meat of choice & lettuce and avocado it was pretty good. We got some tacos as well and not sure if she mixed up another ordered but we were short 3 tacos on our order and that was a bummer.. I was really looking forward to them. Their asada, carnitas, el pastor were all really good and authentic flavor and loved that the pastor had the pineapple chunks as well. One thing I did dislike was I asked about chips order and it said $5 when I asked her if I can just have a couple, she was a bit confused and asked the lead there. Apparently they didn't have chips in their truck and had to go find them. That should have been my no thank you but I figured ohh let's give them a try. Once we got to our house and saw the $5 chips I was honestly a bit upset they were store bought nacho chips. Tacos are $2.50 I don't understand why chips are $5 and they aren't even like your traditional Mexican chips or something along those lines. That was my only downfall to this place but those are just chips. Their food was honestly good no doubt about it when we were ordering they had a few people eating there and a few to go orders. Maybe take them off the menu or make little baggies and purchase chips from a Mexican store or make your own tostadas..

Well, Yelp says it's open until 9pm. I showed up at 8:15pm. Woman is like "we're closed". Wanted to…read moretry the place based on reviews. So, pretty poor experience here. Edit: Just saw some more people drive up and get denied.
