A really yummy italian restaurant just outside the Dells area. We stayed at a hotel nearby and wanted something closer by and that was open past 9:00. The person who answered the phone was really friendly. Food was decent but the french onion soup was an absolute 10/10. Hot, flavorful and perfect for after a long day being outside in winter weather. The marinara dipping sauce was also delicious. Would reccomend and would revisit again to try their pizza next. read more

Excellent food, excellent service and nice atmosphere. We had three different entrees and all were delicious. We also had two desserts which were very good and were good size portions. The music playing is appropriate to an Italian restaurant and at a level which permits easy conversation. Service was at a good pace and very friendly. After a long evening church service we arrived about 9:15. Lucky they close at 10 on a Saturday. Service was still great and very friendly. This was on the way back to the hotel and I like the big pink stand alone building. You can't help but notice it. It was a cool evening and our meal came with a discounted soup. It's a good size bowl. I had minestrone and Basil got Italian wedding. Both were hearty and delicious. I got spaghetti and meatballs. It comes with a meat sauce and I was surprised at the pieces of tomato in it. It was very good but the stand out was the meatballs. They reminded me of upstate NY in the 60's and 70's. The old family restaurant recipes. First they were huge and super soft and fork tender. The real shock was the flavor. It wasn't spicy at all. Just basic which is the way it's supposed to be. Basil got the lasagna. I had one bite and I would make an exception and definitely order this. The bread I wish was normal size instead of a sliced up baguette, cause it was really good. We slathered it with butter and sent back the oil. The chocolate mousse type dessert looked fabulous but we were too full and didn't want to alter the taste in our mouths. I was telling the front desk clerk at Best Western all about it I was so impressed. Turns out she's a close friend of the owner. If you're in the dells definitely make a detour here. read more

Have been wanting to try Little Italy for some time. Met a friend there last night for a long-overdue dinner. Everything was wonderful! The staff was welcoming and attentive throughout the evening, the food was fabulous (hard to make a choice from their excellent menu), and the prices are very reasonable. The best Italian restaurant I've been to in years. One additional plus based on my personal preference: A nice, quiet environment, perfect for conversation. We will definitely be making this our go-to place moving forward! read more

Had the seafood fettuchini alfredo with broc., mushrooms and sweet peppers added. Subbed in the zucchini noodles for fettuchini. Also had the creamy spinach soup. The food was WONDERFUL. My wife had the Tuscan chicken...she said it was very good. Our server Char was polite and attentive. The atmosphere was very relaxed and pleasing. This was so good we will stop again on our return journey home from our vacation. Sam's eggplant parmesan was the best I've ever had. So often this dish is over-breaded and the slices of eggplant so thin they got lost. This was meaty. And the sauce was full of fresh, tangy tomato. I considered licking my plate. The stuffed mushrooms I shared with my husband were also some of the best I've ever had. So well seasoned--mushrooms can be very underwhelming and watery--but these were fabulous. full of flavor. And the creamy, cheesy sauce they were baked (broiled?) in left us wanting more. The dessert we had was one of a kind. Fantastic baklava on top with two layers beneath of what was more like a cake but also dense enough to be a kind of cheesecake? Whatever it was, we left happy. Maybe my biggest surprise was how delicious the ruby port was and how well it actually went with the dessert. Our server was kind and attentive. Slow paced but just what we needed. This was our first visit to Little Italy after having recently moved to the area. We were greeted immediately by a very friendly hostess and seated right away. Our server was at the table within a few minutes, took our drink order and told us about their specials. I ordered Chicken Marsala, plus a Caesar Salad. The salad was brought out quickly and it was delicious, with fresh lettuce, crispy croutons and amazing dressing. The bread was so delicious, we could have made a whole meal with just the bread. The Chicken Marsala was delicious and the quantity so large that I'll have another full meal with the leftovers. My husband really enjoyed his Chicken Parmigiana and also had enough for two full meals. Our server, Stephanie, was attentive and friendly. She was quick to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks, and talked to us about their dessert menu, which was very tempting. There's no doubt we will become regular diners at Little Italy. read more

Italian sodas were phenomenal, and the pastas and apps were great too! Beware however of the caprese salad. As most are aware, a caprese salad is 3.5 things: mozzarella cheese, tomato, and basil sliced and layered, with a small drizzle of balsamic. This restaurants 'version' was a helping of spinach, with maybe 2-3 chunks of tomato and mozz sprinkled on top, with very sweet (?) drizzle... not worth the 10 bucks. limoncello was incredible. The woman who served us was helpful and pleasant to speak with. She had great recs and checked in frequently. Little Italy Ristorante opened 2 weeks ago. The building, formerly a Mexican restaurant, has undergone extensive renovations to turn it into a beautiful, modern space. There is plenty of parking, it's easy to find, the decor was very nice, the prices are decent, and the service was wonderful. That's all well-and-good but let's get to the Food ! I ate lunch there today, (Jan 2, 2020), with my sister and a friend. I appreciated the fact that the Lunch Menu is not overwhelming. There were 6 salads, 8 pasta dishes, and 5 sandwiches to choose from. I selected Spaghetti & meatballs, my sister ordered the Cannelloni & Soup, and our friend had the Chicken Fettuccine. All were delicious. The Spaghetti & Meatballs were not exactly what I was expecting, but I suspect they are more "Italian" versus the "Americanized" versions we're all used to. They were very good. I sampled the Cannelloni and Chicken Fettuccine. Both were excellent, and of the 3 meals I personally preferred the Cannelloni. We ordered 2 desserts and were not disappointed. While we were eating, the owner\chef stopped by to inquire about how we liked the food and our dining experience. It was nice to hear what led him to open the restaurant, and his vision for the place. This just became my new favorite restaurant in Portage. read more

I discovered this place a few years ago and was surprised to find such an excellent quality restaurant in small town America! Super clean and friendly, fast service. This was my go to stop whenever I'm in Portage. Last night was markedly different! Totally new staff. I always sit at the bar and used to get awesome service. Last evening it took a while to be acknowledged. I ordered a dirty martini straight up. It was like drinking water! So watered down. After that I was totally ignored for some time (mind you the place was only about 10% occupied). Finally got my server's attention and asked for bread and olive oil for dipping. 20 minutes later I received the bread and I ordered my entree thinking if I didn't order now I would never see her again, lol. I ordered the Salmon and it arrived after a considerable wait. At least the quality and superior fresh taste of the food has remained ! The salmon was awesome!!! My bill was $42 + (1 person). At those prices the service should be impeccable! I'll have to think twice before returning. read more

The owners just returned from a 4 week vacation and they must have decided to use up the ingredients in the refrigerator. Sounds like an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. My daughter ordered lasagna and she asked me to taste it because she said it tasted rotten. I could immediately smell the pungent sour odor of spoiled cheese. The cook decided to come out and asked what the problem was, he wanted to be confrontational. I explained that he needed to check the cheese he was using as it was spoiled. He assured me he just got a shipment of food and the problem wasn't on his end. He said, you must have been tasting the oregano. Really, blame the oregano! I would avoid this place until they use up their ingredients or stop using oregano! read more

We had originally gone to Tamarack for date night only to see all staff not wearing masks. Arrived at Little Itally to see all staff wearing masks. The food was very good and the atmosphere was amazing. Staff was attentive, polite and their respect for everyone's safety was appreciated. I went to Little Italy during a snow storm because my original dinner plans fell through. The snow was so bad I missed the driveway and ended up stuck. The workers at Little Italy came and helped me get out. Then when I was in the restaurant, they continued this amazing customer service. I mean they truly went above and beyond in every way. The food was also amazing. Super fresh and hot and flavorful. The wine was also very tasty. I mean if food is good it makes a good restaurant. But then the employees took it to the next level and made it a PHENOMENAL restaurant by taking care of me and helping even when they didn't know I was a customer yet. read more
