Went for the Friday night fish fry. Had the "so called" Lake Perch. For an appetizer we started with onion rings, straight from the freezer certainly nothing special. I had the perch which is nothing like what Wisconsin perch should be. Farm raised in a take somewhere, pellet fed and way too large for lake perch. Little flavor but edible. My wife had the butterflied shrimp. Again straight from a freezer. Pricing I thought was a little high but being close to the Dells makes sense. Checked out Club 23 while staying at a cabin nearby in Briggsville. We're on an ongoing quest to visit all the supper clubs in Wisconsin, so were excited to add another stop to the list! You enter to a bar area and just past that is the hostess stand where you can get on the list for a table. We were there around 7pm on a Friday and the bar was packed. We opted to put our name on the list and go wait outside in the sunshine with beautiful views of the farm across the street. They gave us a buzzer, so we were able to enjoy the fresh air while waiting for our table. In retrospect, they also have an outdoor patio that is for those waiting as well and we could have got a cocktail at the bar and brought it outside. We waited for 30-40 minutes for our table (it was Friday night after all!). Once seated, we ordered Manhattans (lovely!) as well as their mushroom crostini appetizer. We both agreed the mushroom crostini stole the show. With big crusty pieces of parmesan bread and a bowl of savory, saucy mushrooms--it was nothing short of delicious. For my main course, I opted for the grilled salmon and the roasted red potatoes for the side. All of their entrees come served with soup or salad and we both opted for salads. They make their parmesan salad dressing in house and it is outstanding! The grilled salmon was overcooked and as bit dry but comes with drawn butter (I'd prefer perfectly cooked salmon without the need for butter). The roasted reds were delish! The service was lovely. The atmosphere was loud. Like sports bar on play off game night loud. There were several large groups and lemme tell ya...LOUD. Our server had to lean in and speak in our ears (and vice versa) in order to be heard. I'm thinking if I went again it would be on a slower weeknight as opposed to Friday. The volume made it nearly impossible to chat with my dining companion. Other than that (which is certainly not their fault), a great first experience! Get to it! We called ahead earlier in the week and asked if they took reservations, and they do not. They mentioned that their wait goes pretty quickly. When we got there, we actually got to be seated right away. When you walk in, the bar is on the left, but you actually check in right inside the dining area off to the right. They aren't like other supper clubs that bring you bread or crackers. Once you sit down, the waitress grabs your drink order and your food order. You get a choice of salad or soup, so you do get something before your meal. Some in our group had questions about substitutions on meals and they were not willing to do so. It was just skipping croutons on a salad and they were not having it. She found something else, but I just thought I'd mention it, just in case someone in your party is used to ordering with substitutions. We all had salads to start but also ordered the mushroom crostini. That was phenomenal! We even saved the extra sauce to put on our steaks later! Our party got grilled shrimp with steamed broccoli, ribeye with a baked potato, seered scallops with French fries, and the filet with a baked potato. The filet was extremely fatty and burnt all around it, when I only ordered it M. It even tasted burnt, so I had to load it up with salt in order to eat it. My husband ordered the scallops and loved it. For $35 you get a TON of scallops. We had tried another place the night before that was $2 cheaper but you only got FOUR scallops. A cousin got grilled shrimp and steamed broccoli, and she loved them! Her husband got the ribeye steak and liked it but it had a lot more fat than a normal ribeye would. Super friendly staff and great service. Drinks were good. Place was clean and inviting. I had the ribeye and wife had filet and shrimp. My ribeye was pretty tough. I don't know if it was the way it was cooked or it was a poor cut. I have never had a ribeye like that even at home and I am not much of a cook. Wife's filet had fat and connective tissue. Not trimmed properly? All things considered we will try it again. The bartenders and waitresses were just fantastic so we will give it another try. We all have off nights. Came here for drinks and dinner. This was mine and my finance's first time here but the people we went with go there fairly often. I had a side salad with the tomato basil dressing and the shrimp Alfredo. The dressing for the salad was good but the salad itself was a little boring. The shrimp Alfredo was good but seemed a little expensive for what it was. Overall a decent place to go. Waitress was nice. read more

As we drove to this restaurant I was afraid of what we were going to, out in the middle of corn fields, but wow! What a hidden gem of a place! It looked packed, but we were able to get a table for two in less than 15min, the service was fantastic, the order of food delivery was right on, the prime rib was delicious! Great food! Great Service! We met my folks here for the Friday Fish Fry! My mom and I had the deep fried haddock, which comes with choice of potato as well as baked beans, cole slaw and a dinner roll. The fried haddock was nice and crispy. Everything was all very good! My husband and Dad had the beef stroganoff which came with choice of soup or salad. My husband had the salad with the homemade blue cheese dressing. The blue cheese dressing had lots of blue cheese and was thick and creamy. My Dad had the beef and barley soup and he said it was excellent! Loaded with beef, barley and vegetables. The beef stroganoff was a huge portion with plenty of mushrooms. They both enjoyed their meals. It was my Mom's birthday so when I called for reservations I asked if they had something special for birthday desserts. They went through the options and I requested a couple pieces of bread pudding for dessert. They said they would bring one out with a birthday candle for my mom. Once we finished our meals and dished up our leftovers to take home, the waitress cleared the table. She quickly returned and surprised my mom with the dessert I had ordered. My mom was so surprised! Everyone we spoke to from the bartender, hostess and waitress were all very nice. Our waitress was the best waitress we have had in a long time. She gave us the specials, answered all of our questions and quickly took our orders. Our drink order came out very quickly. Our salad, soup, cole slaw and beans also came out very quickly. We just finished our salads and cole slaw when the entrees came out piping hot and fresh! We were very impressed with this little supper club! This is a little gem outside of the dells. Come hungry and ready to wait a bit- or call ahead for reservations. Awesome prime rib and the ribs are to die for- some of the best we have ever had. It's busy and noisy and full of locals and worth the wait. We had cheese curds as an app and the waitress happily subbed out veggies for my potato. As another yelper mentioned, this is a total Wisconsin supper club. My friends and I would venture out to Briggsville for some good eats and fishing. Whenever we had a hankering for some fish fry it was Club 23 for us. We liked the fish, the restaurant almost looks like an old house that was converted, however it's very clean inside and feels supper club-ish. Prices are fair. I believe I paid around $10-11 for a 2 or 3 piece cod dinner. I don't live in the area anymore, however I'd go back if I was ever up their again. read more

We went here to soak up the local townie flavor and wash it down with some New Glarus Spotted Cow ale. Mission accomplished... The place is old, which can sometimes be a plus. The 2 large picture windows and 1960's-1970's residential home front door in the dining area were cool. Club 23 certainly has a "regular" crowd but we were welcomed without pause and the friendly service continued till we left. As for the "supper club" comments, I guess that term could apply, but not on this particular Thursday night. It struck me as a local bar and a local restaurant whose two halves weren't mixing. Add to that the fairly average food quality and it doesn't seem to fit the supposed description...or am I just completely confused by Wisconsin culture? read more

A pleasant surprise. Located only a few miles outside of the Dells, it is worth the drive. We stopped here on a whim on our way to the Dells and it turned out to be a great decision. Not much to look at from the outside, but the beauty lies inside. It's like a page out of supper club history. I loved the older furnishings, but yet everything was clean and functional. The food was top notch. The ocean perch was fantastic, not soggy or fishy tasting. It came with your choice of potato, beans, coleslaw, and warm bread. All for less than $12. Went there with my wife and 2 sons. We started with the cheese curds, which were very good! Then we had the soup and salad; both great. For dinner, I had the 16 oz. rib eye, and wife and 1 son had the 8 oz. tenderloin, and my other son had shrimp fettuccine alfredo. This is where things went down hill. All 3 steaks were very bland and tasteless. Not to mention pan fried, and not well. We all ordered them medium rare, but the outside was like hard rubber. As soon as I cut into it, I knew it was bad. My wife went with adding scallops, which also had no flavor. I'm sure the other things on the menu were fine, but don't go here looking for a great steak! read more

We had terrible service. We waited twenty minutes before our order was taken. After another 20 minutes we asked for the soup and salad we ordered. By then they were out of the soup and then out of the second choice as well. By this time our meals were ready to be served so we got all of the food at the same time. The cottage fries and chicken were cold and overlooked but the shrimp and smothered chicken were good. The server was apologetic and comped an ice tea to make up for no soup. When I paid at the bar I was initially ignored. The bartender eventually stopped restocking the beer and asked how everything was. I replied "not great" and was not asked about what was wrong. The bartender simply took my card and said "sorry about that". We are new to the area and could have become a regular at this restaurant. Based on this experience we will not be back. read more

This is a true Northwoods "Supper Club". You walk in and get that homey feeling. The area as you come in is a huge bar and about 10 tables. The seperate dining room has about 20 more tables. It is not unusual to see groups of 12 to 20... they bring the whole family out for some of the best "Supper Club" fare you will find anywhere. Toni pours a healthy drink at the bar. Always meet nice friendly people. This is a true family operation. The pride shows. There are daily specials. The soups are outstanding. Ice cold salads... good too. Friday night fish fry is very popular but my favorite is Saturday night Prime Rib. The most flavorfully seasoned piece of roasted beef ever. Prices are reasonable for this kind of quality. After swallowing my last piece of prime rib I always say "damn, that was good". I love the woodsy atmosphere in the bar and every table in the dining room has a view of the beautiful countryside.
