This is a busy cafe in the Bavarian Village that's near Wizard's Quest. The restaurant puts you on a waiting list and lets folks check out nearby shops before texting that the table is ready. We opted to sit at the bar to eat sooner; it's made of beautiful sculpted wood facing a cute tiled wall. Our waitstaff was so nice and helpful despite being extremely busy with constant orders. I had a mushroom, spinach, and cheese omelette with wheat toast and the signature breakfast salad with warm bacon and onion dressing. The salad is DELICIOUS and I highly recommend it. The omelet was decent-I prefer my ingredients inside the omelet and this restaurant serves the ingredients on top, so it's a preference thing. Anyway, if you are hanging around the downtown Dells, definitely check out this cafe, but be patient because a lot of other folks are, too! read more

This was our first time trying this cafe. We arrived around 1 p.m. and were seated immediately. As the name suggests, the interior has a courtyard cafe vibe--cute, warm, and cozy, especially during the winter. Our server was welcoming and friendly and took our orders right away; however, they were not very visible throughout the rest of our visit. Despite this, the other staff members were kind and stepped in to accommodate us. We ordered the California Chicken (sandwich style) and the Meatlovers Skillet: The California Chicken sandwich came on hamburger buns, which I was not expecting. Unfortunately, the buns were soggy upon arrival and not the best texture. The chicken itself lacked flavor and was not very impressive. The sandwich came with a side, and I chose the Chicken Dumpling Soup, which was good and enjoyable. The Meatlovers Skillet was good--the sauce was tangy and added a nice kick to the dish, though it can feel heavy to start off the day. Overall, the cafe had a cozy atmosphere and friendly staffs, but the food was a hit or miss. We would consider returning to try other menu items. read more

The food was so delicious! I had the Build Your OwnBiscuits & Gravy which is such a fantastic idea!! I added ham and all the veggies! I love Biscuits & Gravy but the addition of ham and veggies really topped it off! It's a large portion so make sure you're hungry! Also tried the yogurt bowl, simple and classic with fresh strawberries the granola is really nut heavy if you have any nut allergies I wouldn't try the granola. My boyfriend had the 2 egg breakfast that he scarfed down he was so hungry and it was so good! I tried the Vanilla Dirty Chai which really is just like a chai coffee. It was good but I think I'll stick with my classic chai! The restaurant itself is super cute! There was a long wait but it was Sunday morning. They have a large selection of coffees and pastries while you wait and will alert you on your cell phone once your table is ready. read more

We were traveling through town and I saw the great reviews on this place so we decided to stop in for lunch. We got there at 1:40pm and the sign on the door said they close at 2pm. We asked if it was ok if we came in and they said 'of course'. The staff there was FANTASTIC! They said they'd stay open as long as we needed. No hurry. Absolutely focused on customer service. They serve breakfast all day which is a huge plus for me so I decided I was in the mood for pancakes for lunch. Three huge fluffy buttermilk pancakes with plenty of butter and syrup were served. Husband had a traditional lunch of a club sandwich. All good. The restaurant has high ceilings and a big open room. Outside is an Oktoberfest vibe. There is a courtyard area in the back that looked nice. They were gearing up for the Wine Walk which I thought was cool that they were participants in the local activities. Great stop. read more

This is the second time I've been at Courtyard Cafe - first time was for lunch and this time for breakfast. They have cute monthly coffee drink specials. Today I ordered their Easter Latte made with dark chocolate and marshmallow. It's a large cup and perfectly balanced. I ordered their California omelette subbing ham for the turkey. It comes with choice of toast and a small house salad (size of a small cup). The omelette was perfectly cooked and stuffed with the bacon and ham. The avocado was sliced on top. I didn't eat the salad but took it with me - just was too full. Service is good. Wasn't too busy mid morning - the last time I was here for lunch which was about an hour later the place was hopping. Ate here with the family for lunch and really enjoyed the food. My chicken salad sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. So creamy and tasty. The kids enjoyed their breakfast and the coffee we had was delicious. The space didn't seen very cozy with super high ceilings and layout. Came to the Dells to celebrate my daughter's birthday and was looking to find some food that was worth the money. Every single dish down to the side salad was perfect. I met the owner and she is a younger lady who clearly has a passion for food much like myself!. It was so refreshing to find this spot when all that seems to be around are food spots that overcharge and under deliver. The owner even went out of her way to make my daughter's birthday special. I strayed from my usual breakfast review routine here because I'm a firm believer that if the restaurant has something it treats as it's "thing" that's what you should try. Eggs Benedict is something I enjoy but am picky about, but it was pushed and I went for it. I just wasn't impressed with the whole picture, particularly the sauce. Nothing to write home about on hashbrowns. Maybe this is a regional tastes issue because breakfast salad was a novel experience (note: that was actually alright, and in company of something else I think the sweeter tang might've complimented nicely). The Courtyard Cafe Dells is the best breakfast spot in the Dells. The ingredients are locally sourced and super fresh. We had a pumpkin spiced latte, hot chocolate and americano - all delicious! The mini donuts are a must try- so warm, soft and tasty! We had a MYO omelette, the California Club omelette and a kids version of the PB&J pancakes. All were really great. The service was fantastic- Julian was attentive, gave fantastic recommendations and overall made it an exceptional experience! Stopped here for breakfast during our Dells visit and we were so impressed. Menu is amazing for people with food restrictions (DF, GF, vegan...) and the food was so good. Our group had mini donuts, omelettes, classic egg breakfast, avocado toast, and yogurt bowl. Everyone loved their food and service was great. The breakfast salad as a side was a nice touch compared to the standard heavy breakfast sides. (Note - it has bacon dressing but you can request a substitute if veg/vegan) We are big on trying new places but this will definitely be a repeat for us when we're back in town. read more

Wanted a good brunch spot and found this new addition to the Dells. Tucked in a side street, between the old beer garden ans new beer garden location, The Courtyard Cafe delivers on value and quality - something that lacks in most Dells eateries. I ordered a walnut chicken sandwich with spinach soup - it was fresh and perfection. Our daughter had Hawaiian Hamburger that came with a PLETHORA of French fries and our youngest got a gourmet grilled cheese with a side salad of their house dressing (warm bacon vinegarette - worth the visit alone). My Luther got a bowl of chicken dumpling that was like grandma used to make. Hearty dumplings (not the noodle kind) and it wasn't over salty as most soups are. For dessert we split a DOLE WHIP! The medium served all 4 of us fine. This will remain as one of our "must-return" restaurants when we come to the Dells again. The staff is very friendly and the service was great. The coffee drinks were very good and more affordable than Starbucks. The food was middle of the road. The taco salad was the best thing we ordered and my kids loved the waffles. The veggie burger and mini donuts were a bit disappointing. The donuts didn't have that state fair taste or crisp. read more
