We both ordered half fried-chicken dinners. The waiter later told us they only had one half and one quarter available. I agreed to take the quarter portion while my husband had the half. When my meal arrived, I noticed it included a couple of extra fried wings. However, no one explained that the kitchen had substituted the wings or asked whether I was comfortable with the change. When we went to pay, our bill was $48 for two chicken dinners and two coffees, which seemed very high. When I questioned the charge, I was told that the extra wings were used to make my quarter portion equivalent to a half. I understand that restaurants sometimes need to make substitutions, but customers should be informed and given the opportunity to approve them--especially when the substitution affects the price. The lack of communication was disappointing, and the bill did not seem reasonable for what we ordered.

We stopped on the way out of town on a Sunday morning without any real expectations as so so restaurants seem to come and go in Elroy. But... but... this was great experience... coffee was serviceable... Biscuits and Gravy were on point and the star of the show. The single pancake was quite literally much bigger than my head. The Eggs Benedict... Tasty. The serve was also great. When we got there the place was full... only one waitress in sight... but orders were taken quickly and the food came out of the kitchen in a matter of minutes. But mine had one egg, hash browns, a piece of toast, and two pancakes. The hash browns were done to perfection, and I ordered strawberry topping for an extra $2.00 which was yummy. The service was great and completed with a friendly smile. Hubs had an issue with his toast not being done enough. Unfortunately they didn't get him new toast in time, but they did give him a discount for it which we appreciated. If we lived nearby we'd definitely come back.
