I've always liked the Sparta side of Fort McCoy better than Tomah, as it just seems more like an individual small town versus a big-box thoroughfare. What a wonderful recommendation, I had a fantastic visit. My co-worker can second the old fashioneds! Staff was super friendly and service was attentive. Clearly there are locals and regulars coming in that know each other by name, but being out-of-towners we were still treated the same and welcomed. We sat at the bar (always my preference), but there is plenty of restaurant seating if you come here with a group or with your family. They have a decent beer selection on tap, and the menu can cover pretty much all appetites. I ordered the veggie burger, which was somewhat generic but nevertheless tasty and I ate the whole thing. Overall, I'd say the food here is good - maybe nothing crazy unique, but good, especially with the somewhat limited options in the area if you want to stay away from chains and fast food. I will absolutely be back for another dinner and continue to try out options on the menu. I'd really love to do the fish fry if I'm ever here on a Friday night. But, who needs dinner when you have dessert?! OMG I'd seen some photos of their desserts online, and even though I'm not usually a dessert person, these photos drove me here that night! Wow. The Brandy Alexander is absolutely incredible. It's large but my co-worker and I each ordered our own (and finished it completely). Anyone can make a Brandy Alexander you sip from a cup... but this was like a soft serve goblet of ice cream with the booze mixed in throughout. The BEST. I will be back here every time I'm in the area just for this (and then good food and beer is always a nice add-on).

We were fine since we could tell by all the cars in the area there wasn't going to be a less crowded. We were given a menu for Friday fish fries which is exactly what we wanted. We all ordered the 3 piece hand breaded cod which was only $11.50! You had a choice of baked potato or fries, Cole slaw or cottage cheese and you got a warm dinner roll with cinnamon butter on the side (regular butter was on the table). The fish was awesome, some of the best I've had,and needless to say I ate all of it.We also noticed the $price, too,$11.95,very,very reasonable for the Dells area.We now have another great option close by.It was a nice & clean place, and if the rest of the menu is as good as the Fish fry, we'll definitely be back.Again only reason it's not 5 stars was the fries and tougher time getting additional drinks. Stay away from the Dells prices and long long waits, drive a few minutes away to Lyndon Station, it's we'll worth it,and less expensive.

So we headed on in like always-well, the new owner is basically a bar fly! We were the Only Customers and she couldn't even take our order! To busy talking to her teen children who were working/cooking. Finally got our pizza. Had to ask for napkins and paper plates. She told us "oh there usually on the tables " Pizza was pretty good. Then we had to flag the bar fly down Again just to pay!! Skip ahead to March 2026 thought we'd give them another chance. Fish Fry this time. Hmm, fish was definitely Hot but not as tasty as the previous owners served. Came in an old warped plastic basket w/mini portion of coleslaw (not the best), fries or baked potato( was 4pm-told us no baked til after 5) menu states after 3pm. Then server comes back and says, " oh I didn't know we had baked potatoes now, thought not til 5) Maybe server should know what the heck they are serving! Also, special was shrimp (which server said they were out of) glad I didn't want any. Also, heard the cook saying, "we only have 1 bag of fish left"!! WOW on a Friday night in Wisconsin during LENT!! Of course the Bar fly female owner was there playing slot video games and cackling! She informed the server that the woman's bathroom needed TP! That there was barely enough for her to use. Which tells me she used the last of it and couldn't be bothered to replace it!!! Lazy Boozy Bitch!! My adult children and inlaws tried dinner mud summer 2025- half the menu wasn't available!! They claimed the supply truck hadn't arrived yet. Needless to say they won't waste there time going again. And I would have to say the same. I have recommended this place to many people.
