Service is superb here. Staff really friendly. Popped in for lunch. The portion sizes are huge. You get fries and salad or soup. Plus they give you warm freshly baked bread which was delicious. We had the cheese burger and gyro. Got the onion rings instead of fries. The salad was good. Amazed $13 for burger fries and salad. The burger was okay. Pro: Two stars because the onion rings are epic. Con: We ordered two ribeye steaks medium rare, and one came out rare in some spots and was so grisly that I couldn't even cut it and the other was well done. Why do the green beans taste fishy? Bleh. We only ended up here because The Lodge was closed. Probably a tourist trap. I told them about the issue, even though I felt awful about it since I haven't seen my dad in a long time, and they didn't even bother removing it from the bill that he paid. Ugh. This place has done a complete turnaround since my review years ago. The food is excellent, the service better than expected. I RARELY Rate anyplace 5stars. To get that rating, a place has to be top notch. This place has achieved that rating. And the owner makes the rounds at the table to be sure you got what you expect and want. Although the food wasn't bad it was way overpriced. The restaurant is well kept for an older building. But the worst was definitely the service it was obvious the waitress didn't want to be bothered. So because of the price and service we won't recommend or revisit. read more

Stopped in on a road trip and were pleasantly surprised. Service was very friendly, there's a nice ambience and charm like a classic old-school dinner place. We really enjoyed romantic dinner.They give you so much food and everything we tried was delicious. Decided to see if this local Italian restaurant was going to be good and boy was I right. Got greeted and sat right away. New to the area, decided to give it a try. When we pulled into the parking lot, we were a little leery as it had a rehab Country Kitchen vibe. Looks are deceiving. The food was wonderful! Chicken piccata was, no lie, the best I have ever had. Hubs had a Gyro and said it was excellent. Salads were crisp and cold, with homemade dressing. We will definitely be back! My favorite place to get take out on i94. Quality and price is great! Service is amazing. I've tried something different off the menu many times. The lasagna hit the spot my first time here. Stopped here for lunch. Had gyros, a fruit salad plate, and a chicken sandwich. Sandwiches came with soup, fries, and a roll. Everything was very good. Staff was very nice and the bathrooms were clean. The menu was very large and made us laugh, but great for those with limited vision. read more

Menu says homemade soup but wouldn't be surprised if it was from a bag. Seafood trio was ok but not great. Cocktail sauce was like a gelatin instead of a sauce. Didn't notice that the board the bread was served on was a bacteria cesspool until i was done eating. See pic. read more

Bob's Burgers Fans - one of the characters on the show works here! For this style of restaurant, a family style place with a nice variety, 4 Stars. The turkey club was very good but if you are sensitive to a lot of mayo, you should get it on the side. The steak sandwich was good too. The fries are ridiculously good, nice and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Sandwiches come with choose of soup, they had chicken noodle and minestrone, both good. You also get a nice big homemade roll. We missed the cinnamon rolls, they were all out but the time we got there. Bathrooms are ok, a little on the grungy side, what you'd expect from a nice Kwik Trip. We'll be back to try the cinnamon rolls! read more

The service was excellent and served in a speedy time. Their hot rolls are huge and delicious, as was my chicken pot pie soup in a grilled bowl from a roll. The liver & onions was dry and not appetizing, but my pumpkin pie smothered in whipped cream made up the difference.. If only the food were half as good as the service. I'd like to give more stars just for the waitress, but the food was so atrocious I just can't. The French fries weren't all the way cooked. I hope you're not in a hurry.... We showed up at 1:00 on a Tuesday and they were slammed with retired locales. We were seated and promptly ignored by the only waitress and host or whomever he was and who chose to cash out all the tickets and continue to seat people regardless . The last straw was him taking the drink orders of the table next to us that was seated at least ten minutes after we were. I can only imagine how long the food service would have taken. I can't comment on the food as we walked out without so much as a notice by the staff. I need to eat lunch before dinner is served! I guess they have all the business they care to - it just won't be ours! read more

We chose the Roman Castle as it was halfway between my mom's house and our house in Madison and we wanted to find a place to have a birthday lunch. Terrific choice! My brother chose the lasagna and said it was amazing. My mother and I each had a Monterey Chicken Breast sandwich that was juicy and tender and came on their huge homemade rolls. My husband had the pulled pork and loved it. Service was great. The restaurant has been newly remodeled with a clean, fresh palette. We will definitely return and in fact, are heading there tomorrow. Why go to Culvers, or McDonalds when you can just go a couple of blocks further and have a great family restaurant experience. read more

I enjoyed eating here. The portions are big and don't cost a lot. The staff was very friendly and we were served quickly. The food didn't have a lot of flavor, but I like things really spicy so I'm not counting that against them. For others the spices are probably just right. I needed a box because there was so much yumminess served! The dinner rolls are huge and delicious. :) read more

Have been there a couple of times now for dinner and breakfast. The pizza is so good- homemade dough and fresh toppings. Also had the lasagna which is awesome! Breakfast is really good too. What an awesome choice to stop on our way home. We each had a different soup & they were all great. The beef, gyro, mushroom & Swiss burger & lasagna were all very tasty. Our waitress, Andrea, was over the top with excellent service. We would definitely stop back if we are in the area again. read more

However, the server told me the steak tips did not come with any sides and that the menu was incorrect. She even said she has to explain this to customers frequently. If management knows the menu is wrong, it should have been corrected by now. We were also given a complimentary starter consisting of a few Keebler Club crackers, cheese curds and small containers of what appeared to be coleslaw and possibly butter or cheese spread. I tried one of the cheese curds, and it was moldy. When I told our server, she simply said, "Oh." There was no apology, and she only removed the cheese curds rather than the entire plate. She brought more curds, but after finding mold on the first serving, I certainly wasn't comfortable eating them. We asked whether the salmon was fresh or frozen and were told it was frozen, despite being priced at approximately $23. Another person in our party ordered the French dip, and the server asked whether they wanted it as a French dip or a Philly. Getting a clear explanation of the difference took far more effort than it should have; eventually, we were told the Philly simply included onions and peppers. Between the inaccurate menu, moldy food and the server's dismissive response, we no longer felt comfortable eating there. We got up and left and went to the Chinese restaurant next door instead, which turned out to be the better choice for the evening. The Broken Spur presents itself as a higher-end steak and seafood restaurant, but our experience did not come close to meeting that standard. Management needs to correct the menu, improve food-quality controls and provide its staff with better training in menu knowledge and customer service.
