Not great, not bad. I came here with some of my family for dinner to make use of a gift certificate that was about to expire (gift certificates here are void after one year, it's always frustrating when places do this). It was a busy night and the hostess was missing so the bartender seated us. There was only one waitress so the evening went relatively slow for service but she was still friendly. Decent selection on the menu for appetizers, burgers/sandwiches, soups/salad and entrees. Nice children's menu selection, no gluten free options for my niece and nephew but they just ate without the bun. I had a burger and despite the BBQ sauce, it was very bland. I don't think I'd come back for the food since there are lots of other great spots in town but maybe a drink at the bar as there were some nice specials. read more

Stopped there for a late lunch on the way to the Dells. It was mid-afternoon, so relatively empty. It seems like the kind of place that has a regular clientele--everyone knows each other. It is small. There is a bar on one side of the building and tables on the other side. Decor is dated and mundane. I was not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. I got one of the daily specials, which was a Southwest Chicken Sandwich. My wife got a Cod Sandwich off their regular menu. My toddler had a Grilled Cheese off their kids' menu. The Southwest sauce (basically spicy mayo) was similar to to most Southwest sauces. The chicken breast was the king of my sandwich. It was fried perfectly--crispy on the outside, but still very moist and tender on the inside. For not looking like much, it was a solidly good sandwich. My wife didn't say much about the Cod Sandwich, other than it was good. I was impressed with the size (definitely bigger than my sandwich). The best compliment I can say about my kid's Grilled Cheese is that he finished the entire sandwich--he is usually very picky. I had sweet potato fries, which were decent. I also finished most of my kid's regular french fries, which were better than average. I think they were coated with starch to make them crispier, which was totally fine with me. They were crispy and tasted good. For dessert, I had Peanut Butter Dream Cheesecake off their daily special menu. This had layers of peanut butter cheesecake, banana cheesecake, and a chocolate crust (likely crushed Oreos). I don't know if they make their own desserts or not, but I love being able to try unusual flavor combinations like this and I was not disappointed. Club Sandwich was perfect and hit the spot! French Dip Sandwich also very good. When you enter Quindt's you walk into an inviting and nice sized bar with TVs. We might have ate at the bar but none of the tap beer appealed to us. Even Spotted Cow would have sufficed. No big deal really, so we ate in the dining room since we weren't drinking. The service was friendly and speedy. The beer brat cheese soup was hot and tasty and only a $1.50 charge instead of fries with the sandwiches. Large parking lot and clean bathroom. Bowls of my favorite snack mix on the bar, grabbed some salty snacks on the way out. I almost stuck around for the snack mix alone! read more

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Quindt's. Our waitress was friendly and my cocktail was stiff. The ground sirloin was good but next time I would not order the mashed potatoes. Haven't had anything bad here, fish is great, chicken wrap, ribs are really good. Only downside is they don't have steak sometimes which is unfortunate when you really want steak and no other place in town has a good steak dinner. Went on Friday night. They were very busy, and only had two waitresses. But that doesn't make up for our waitress being rude and SO full of excuses. They were out of the food I ordered, they gave us the wrong food, and our drinks didn't come out until we were done eating. With no apologies. I used to reside in Baraboo and my fiance and I frequented Quindts. The food was always good, especially their roast beef sandwiches. We always seem to get some snotty young lady as our server, I believe she may be the owner's daughter? She could care less about serving you... She was always in a hurry to get rid of you.... I recommend the place for the food, however the service really bites. If the service was good this place would easily get a 4. UPDATE: So my original review was made on 03/25/2012. Recently while making plans for my upcoming wedding I was in Baraboo and needed something for lunch that wasn't a chain. I thought since I hadn't been back to Quints in over a year I'd like to try it again. I warned my fiancee who agreed that we may get the snotty waitress. She said lets see. So We walked in and low and behold it was her, her attitude had changed and she seemed a bit nicer. The food was stellar as usual and I will make it back again when I have to travel back to Baraboo. Went here based on "yelp" search for Prime Rib. It was excellent. It is not a fancy place, very casual, but excellent food. We arrived rather early around 4:45 pm, and the waitress moved our seat and turned a TV channel so I could watch a football game. The Old Fashions are very good, the salads and rolls were good with the French dressing be outstanding. It must be homemade, and worth it even if French isn't your fav. I ordered the Queen Cut Prime for $20, and it was very well cooked with excellent hashbrowns. My girlfriend ordered the filet mingion and it was also excellent. She ordered the $7 add on jumbo shrimp. I teased her that I better get one because $7 is a lot for the typical extra small shrimp you get. I was wrong, I would happily pay $15 for the shrimp that came they were massive and perfectly cooked. Simply the best shrimp I've ever had. We went all out with soup, shrimp, drinks etc and left for under $60. On the way out we saw a tray of sandwiches being brought out, they look amazing for $8 to 12 each, we will be back for those sandwiches. BTW by the time we left, the place was packed. Great bar to watch college sports at with a very friendly staff. If you're looking for an Old Fashioned in Baraboo this is the place to go. On Wednesdays and Saturdays they have prime rib. Usually when you go out to a tavern or bar and grill for prime rib the quality can be questionable, however Quindt's has high quality prime rib. A very nice find. read more

This was as good as any fish fry I've eaten in Wisconsin, and Wisconsin is known for their Friday night fish fries. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient, the bar was packed and noisy, and the food was very good. Lightly battered fried cod (with other fish choices as well), baked potato (choice of potato), and a generous serving of fresh coleslaw with a homemade dressing. Quindt's gets five stars with a caveat based on what it is. Quindt's is s cozy, neighborhood restaurant with great, reasonably priced food. Their steaks are fantastic for the price. I've entertained several friends from out of town and the meal is always tasty and high quality. This is not a fancy restaurant, and it makes no pretensions. If you want elegant or romantic, you have to go to the Dells. But if you want good, casual and reasonably priced, look no further. read more

Was in the Dells and asked for a place for Prime Rib and was told this place. Took the drive and pull in. Was really hesitant at first. Looked a little run down. Walked in and became more worried, very dated. The place is clean, just not anything special. Small dining areas, paper placemats, no salad bar or relish tray. Wife and I both ordered Prime Rib. If I would have closed my eyes when I ate it I wouldn't be able to tell if I was at Quindts or Lawrys, Gibsons or Chicago Cut. The meat was just as good in quality and taste as those mentioned above. My wife and I stopped in for a beer and a light bite to eat with some local atmosphere. I must say we were immediately impressed with the friendly staff accepting us OUTSIDERS. Stacy (sp) was so full of energy and was happy to serve right away. After being included in the local conversation I felt welcome. Eight of us went to Quindt's on a Saturday night. Everyone had a steak. Several added shrimp. All items were wonderful. One steak was underdone, but that was quickly remedied. Our waitress was very attentive. There is road construction but access to businesses is fine. The interior is clean with a retro vibe. There were a lot of local people there.
