Atmosphere: Tiny little diner, maybe 20 seats total. Old school vibes with eclectic decor. There isn't much room to wait for a table, try and stand by the front door by the register and not in the walking path. They do have off street parking but during peak hours the lot gets pretty slammed. Service: Fast and friendly and all of our orders were correct. They refilled coffees and water frequently. Food: Yum! Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. I had a breakfast item off the menu and I can't wait to come back to try a lunch item as well. For the place being so small I was expecting top service. The service felt a bit slow. Walked in and got seated. Waitress gave us time to look at menu after ordering our drinks. After we ordered the food took about 20 minutes to come out. (Breakfast food that doesn't take that long) when the food was brought out I was expecting it to be very hot and fresh but it was like it was sitting under a warming lamp for a while. Never was checked in on or was able to get refills on drinks until our check was brought over. The employees all say hello, how are you and I always respond with a very cheery, "Wonderful!"and how are you? We had a most pleasant experience at this gem of a restaurant yesterday morning. For starters, there were three employees working when we got there. The waitress was on break right outside the door, but greeted us cheerfully. The cook and busboy both welcomed us with smiles and kind words. The busboy hurried to wipe off our table and apologized for not having done it earlier. He then brought us menus and drinks with encouragement from the cook. The waitress soon appeared to take our orders. We were so impressed with the teamwork between the three of them! I've worked and visited too many establishments where fellow employees refused to do things because "it's not my job." This vibe was a breath of fresh air. Onto the food--it was absolutely delicious! My husband had a five-ingredient omelette with a side salad, and finished every bite of both, a rare event for him. He declared it one of the best omelettes he ever had (bacon, American cheese, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers). I had the Salmon Eggs Benedict, and it was even better than I hoped--and I'm a BIG salmon fan. The portion of salmon was huge, the eggs were perfectly cooked, and the sauce was smooth and savory. My side was shredded hash browns, cooked perfectly crispy. I, too, became a member of the clean plate club! We highly recommend this place (we have been multiple times and every experience has been outstanding). Prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere is classic diner. read more

To start I got an ice coffee and after a few months they brought it out (by that time my body had already begun to Decay) I was woken when the waitress set the coffee down on the table and began to make jokes that made me wonder what type of crack they had in the back (The screaming from the back was a little off setting too) after taking a look at my Iced coffee I could quickly till the cup was dirty (I ignored this because it's a back street diner that probably sells drugs) I almost put the coffee to my lips and I saw a hair I was in shock. After getting a new coffee and tasting it, I was horrified! I just wonder how that they made coffee taste like not coffee, Over all it was pretty watered down, there was ice in the coffee but still there was the slight taste off coffee (As if someone explained what coffee was to someone who had never had it and that person made coffee with there mind) WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT THE COFFEE WAS BAD! Over all a pretty bad experience I probably wouldn't go here again unless I was held at gunpoint and I would probably rather eat the gun then the horrible burnt dry bacon. So I have been slowly making my way to the different diners in the area. This one was a little off the radar for me and I found it by accident while driving by it but saw the word "diner" and knew that I had to try it. The diner itself is a nice, cozy little place and it wasn't too busy when I went around 20 am on a Thursday. I ordered the plate with eggs, hashbrowns, sausage links and toast. I also ordered a pancake because you can't eat at a diner without a pancake. The food was excellent. I always ask for extra crispy hashbrowns which is a fine line between burnt and normal hashbrowns. These were perfect and they complemented the eggs and sausage nicely. The buttermilk pancake was nothing spectacular but it was good and I would order it again. The staff was very warm and welcoming. They made sure my coffee was topped and asked before filling it so they wouldn't throw off the cream/sugar/coffee balance. I will definitely eat here again and can't wait to to try their lunch/dinner menu. read more

Based on previous reviews, I so badly wanted to believe that our recent visit would be very good, but from the moment we arrived, things just went bad. It was a Friday night and there were three tables with guests at them. There were four tables that hadn't been cleared of dirty dishes at all, and no one attempting to do so. The woman behind the counter welcomed us, but we and another couple who had arrived just before us, still waited five minutes for her to bring us menus and get our drink orders. Still not cleaning the dirty tables. She brought our drinks and came back five minutes later for our order. During that initial ten minutes, she was packing up a to-go order for people sitting at one of the other three occupied tables. She also delivered food to one of the other three tables. Again, no one is cleaning up the dirty tables, which is very unappealing. We order our burgers. I order a 1/3 pound burger, well done, with cheddar cheese and fried onions, tater tots on the side. The cook delivers our food and I have to ask him to bring us napkins. I would later ask the waitress to bring us forks. Had we not asked, we would not have gotten napkins or forks. My food was prepared correctly and tasted very good. However, my spouse ordered a Big Cheese Craft Burger with tater tots, and he got a small hamburger with fried onions. We didn't notice this until he took a bite, although I am thinking, my burger looks bigger than his. The waitress disappears into the back and we can see her talking and laughing with another employee and it takes a couple of minutes to flag her down to tell her all of this. She doesn't offer to remake the burger that he ordered, only says that she will not charge him for what he ordered, and she brings out a plate with lettuce and tomatoes on it for him to add to his sandwich. I think that at least it is good she is not charging us for his sandwich. By the way, the tables are still not clean. So then we get the bill, and all she did was remove the sandwich that he ordered and replaced it with the one he got, no discount, nothing offered to correct their mistake. So in the end, I got food that I liked and would eat there again, but the service was terrible. If she was working when I walked in the door, I would turn around and leave. But I don't have to worry about that because my husband says we will never go there again based on the poor service, incorrect food, and the bill that we received. It is customary for restaurants to comp patrons whose orders get so messed up. A happy customer is a repeat customer. Hopefully this review will encourage this establishment to correct their mistakes when dealing with situations such as this. Oh, while we were eating, the cook came out and cleared the dirty tables and wiped them down. Apparently that is not the waitress' job. read more

Incredibly disrespectful staff. On Friday morning (3/22) called to make a pick-up order and was told they can't process without a credit card. Trying to be understanding our business owner went in to order 7 breakfast sandwiches to-go for our employees. While waiting for the meal someone from the kitchen pointed at him, laughing, and said: "hey, look at this order - at least they're small" and continued making snarky remarks while he waited. As a small business we do what we can to support other businesses, but the complete disrespect and condescending attitude was beyond reproach. read more

We went recently with our family at an off time (no one else in the place but us - no rush) It took them over 1 hour to make us basic eggs and toast. (unacceptable!) The staff was very friendly but no management, no direction and very chaotic. Our food was cold when it arrived....how is this possible? My eggs tasted like cardboard, no flavor. This was not a good experience, we will NOT be going back. There are way too many new restaurants in the Fox Cities to try. The owner of this establishment needs to hire a manager / team (including a BETTER cook) that knows that they are doing and step up the menu & ingredients. Our experiences was really bad!! There's not many decent 24 hour spots around the area. Appleton is fortunate to have Little Diner Xpress. They have a pretty big menu with a variety of sandwiches and burgers, but you got to come here for breakfast. Lots of skillets, omelets, and your classic breakfasts of eggs, toast, and sausage or bacon. My favorite is their breakfast sandwich and their breakfast burger (a denver omelet on top of a burger). Beware, it's a pretty small spot and that don't take reservations. If you show up on a Saturday or Sunday morning you might have to wait for a little bit. Again, it's a perfect spot for a late night meal and should have no problem getting a decent meal. read more

When back in the hometown after being away three years we decided to try some other places than we used to go. The little diner is a great 24/7 diner with excellent diner food and great service for very reasonable prices. The service was efficient and friendly. They cared to get you what you wanted and how. I like it when they care enough to make sure it is just how you wanted it. The food was great for the price. Don't take that as meaning it was not simply great food, it is, but coming here form California the value is amazing. I had he corned beef has Benedict which cost around $9, in CA that is a $13-14 breakfast. So it is a great value. From what I can tell it is a great value locally as well. Definitely my favorite breakfast spot and the place I try to take any out-of-towners when they come to visit if it isn't busy. Whether during the day or late at night, the food and service are always great. Some of the crowd that patronizes late at night isn't ideal but that isn't the fault of the restaurant obviously. I was lucky enough to have off today (I'm a server also, and I don't always get this day off like everybody else does), so my family decided to go out for a late breakfast. For the first time in the 10 years I've been coming here, this place was packed to the point that people were waiting for a seat. There were only two tables unoccupied, and they were both dirty. We waited about 5 minutes for a cleared table and sat down. Kira and Suzy were the servers I saw, and they were absolutely killing it. For as busy as they were, we never had to wait for a refill on coffee, or anything else for that matter. Those ladies were on fire and working incredibly hard. I saw that Michael was working in the kitchen, and he did an amazing job. The food came out perfectly, and very quickly, considering how busy it was. This part is for the boss; Please, next holiday, don't forget it is a holiday. Your restaurant was clearly understaffed, and your employees could have used more help. They did an amazing job, and they deserve AT LEAST your gratitude and thanks, if not a bonus. You have amazing employees, please don't forget that. read more
