It was Sunday evening and we wanted to order dinner for pick up so we checked out the website for the menu. We knew we wanted wings and pizza so we jumped on a 12 piece bone-in wings with Hot-2-Go Garlic and a 16" The Meating Place Pie which has the meats that being, Meatballs, Cupped Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, and Prosciutto. We then saw the Last Train to Mexico Pizza and it sounded like nothing we had ever heard of (Foragers Street Corn Elote, Mojo Pulled Pork, Candied Bacon, Jalapenos, Mozzarella, Goat Cheese, Tajin, Cilantro, and Lime Crema Drizzle). This might just be crazy enough to work. We picked up our order and everything looked great. I started with the wings. The Hot-2-Go Garlic sauce was great. Not an over the top spicy but has great flavor and plenty of actual garlic which we loved. The The Meating Place was also very good. Fresh topping and it was loaded with them too with a great crust. Now for the Last Train to Mexico: We loved this pizza. It was so unique but everything on it worked so well. The flavors, texture, toppings everything hit. We were so glad we took a risk on this pie. I will say though the star of the show was for sure the Street Corn Elote as a base. First time having corn on a pizza and it will not be my last. If the toppings on the Last Train to Mexico are ones you enjoy this is a must.

Just after we placed our order, the really nice own came to our table and let us know the pizza dough was ready! Woohoo! We were so excited and we were not disappointed! We ordered the meat pizza and it was amazing! I even commented to my husband that the cheese was so tasty that I would have been even happy with a cheese pizza, but the meats and the smoked bacon made the pizza even more tasty! But there is just something about the cheese that stood out. It was melty, just the right amount of chewy and the flavor, man! It's just really good cheese! Lol! I love a really great cheese! The price of the pizza was also very reasonable! And we even had left overs! I highly recommend this restaurant and you should really try the pizza! Definitely will be returning many times!

South of Philly is an outstanding lunch and dinner spot if you're craving quality sandwiches and…read moreflavorful wings. When we first walked in, the first thing I noticed was that it wasn't very crowded. Sometimes that can be a red flag--but in this case, it turned out to be a hidden advantage. The food came out fast, fresh, and piping hot. From the first bite, I knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere has more of an old-school, no-frills vibe. It's not flashy or over-the-top, which actually made the experience better. I walked in with neutral expectations--not expecting anything extraordinary, but not expecting anything bad either. What I got completely exceeded that middle-ground mindset. Their menu offers a wide variety of options, but I went with something classic and comforting: a Philly cheesesteak (no mushrooms), upgraded with Cheese Whiz, along with sweet chili chicken wings and a side of onion rings. Let's start with the wings. The sweet chili sauce was perfectly balanced--just the right touch of heat paired with a subtle sweetness. Even fully sauced, the wings maintained their crispiness, which is not easy to do. If I had to critique anything, I'd say the blue cheese could be upgraded--but that's a minor note in what was otherwise a near-perfect execution. The Philly cheesesteak was equally impressive. The bread was soft yet sturdy, packed generously with meat, cheese, and vegetables from edge to edge. Every bite was balanced and satisfying. The onion rings were exactly how I like them--thin, crispy, well-seasoned, and fried to a perfect golden crunch. Everything from the food to the drinks, the atmosphere, and the customer service was on point. The only thing I passed on was dessert. The cookies didn't look as fresh as I would've liked, so I decided to skip it this time. That said, it didn't take away from an otherwise top-tier experience. Whether you're looking for a dine-in lunch, dinner, takeout, or delivery, South of Philly absolutely delivers. I genuinely don't think this place gets the attention it deserves. It's a hidden gem, and I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu. If the staff has recommendations next time, I'm all in--I'll be there to try them. Highly recommended.

Gonna be three stars on this one…read more The line order wait on a Wednesday night @6pm was 45 min. That wouldn't be an issue if this was a restaurant where one is waiting to be seated, however in this establishment before entering the dining area customers must go through a kiosk line to place an order with a cashier and this night it was taking 4.5-5 min per order (we were 10th in line). The plastic silverware knocks a star off of this review. So much waste in the casing, and it couldn't even cut through the pizza. Please don't squirt ricotta. Ever. The cheese pizza for the little ones was rated by the little ones as a 3/5. The entire cheese coming off in one big lump was a downer. Sauce was a 2, dough was ok. Layout and furniture solid. The best pizza was the prosciutto and mushrooms. Points for great live music and a wonderful outdoor play area for the kids.
