Here for lunch. A young girl, likely a food delivery driver, is waiting for her order. She is carrying a young cat and has walked through the restaurant twice, front to back, holding it. Now the cat has been released to walk up and down the front counter where food is ordered. Now another employee has taken a pause from preparing food and come from behind the bar to hold the cat, which was subsequently returned to the food ordering surface. Next to setting a kid with a dirty diaper on this surface, it's about as insulting to diners expectating some semblance of sanitation as it gets. You have been advised. read more

My DH and I stopped in on a recent trip to Highlands. We had been shopping and asked where to get a "good salad," and were directed to Highlands Pizza Place. We ordered the Greek Salad and the Gorgonzola Salad. Both were fresh and flavorful. It is quick-service, where you order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. This is a fun little stop in town where lunch and dinner is always going to be good. It's a pizza shop, don't expect fine dining, but do expect good food in a light environment. It has the old pizza shop type vibe. You order your meal, and take a number, and they will bring the food to you. I got their 6 wings with garlic parm as an app and they were very tasty and cooked well. I also got their Italian Sub and got it hot. It comes with chips and a pickle. The sub is very flavorful and perfect sized. If there is any draw back prepare for a slow food delivery. I hit during their lunch rush and local businesses clobbered them with large pizza orders which slowed down their kitchen staff for things that aren't pizza. Beyond that I'll go back because it is a nice and fun place. If you're looking for a good food selection (10" personal pizzas up to large, and a ton of sub sandwiches) this is the place. read more

Stopped by on a rainy afternoon in Highlands. It's a fast casual spot where you order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. Sandwiches were great, delicious bread, toasted nicely. The Italian beef has marinara but tasted better than expected. read more

This is nearly perfect pizza. I ordered a supreme pizza and the large is truly immense! The pizza is a little more than an average chain pizza restaurant, but the pie is far and away superior to any chain restaurant, too. The toppings were fresh and plentiful, the cheese was just the right amount and the red sauce was zesty and full of herbs. The only thing keeping this from being "perfect" is the crust. While the crust was good and cooked thoroughly, it's more like the crust from Mellow Mushroom and less like the charred crust of a NY style pizza. To be fair, they don't advertise as a NY style pizza, but that's the kind of crust I prefer above all others. I even prefer a brick oven coal fired pizza that has some snap and char to it. All things considered, this was a VERY GOOD pizza and well worth the price. We had left overs for 3 days! The staff were very friendly and the business is easy to find right off Main Street in Highlands. There is usually plenty of free parking and there is seating in the restaurant, too. The restaurant was neat, clean and cozy inside. Great place for a family or even a date night pizza. This was a great find nestled away in Highlands quietly making some of the best pies in WNC. read more

We came here after a Yelp search. The woman at the counter was friendly and patient with us. We ordered a small pizza and an appetizer calzone to share. The gentleman who brought it out to us was friendly as well. The chicken alfredo pizza was delicious ! The calzone was decent but there wasn't much ricotta cheese in it. It's a small establishment but there were more tables to sit at than it appears. It was decorated nicely. They thank you for coming as you walk out. I love this place! We were trying to find a place to eat on a Saturday afternoon. If you blink you could miss the door. We each got a 10" pizza and they were all great. The crust is seasoned well and the three cheese pizza was very flavorful. Only complaint is they seem to be short handed but that seems to be a common theme nowadays and you could tell they were doing their best to keep things moving along. Great food! Wife got a calzone and she said it was the best calzone she has had and she pounds down calzones anytime they're on the menu. I split a pizza with my two boys and it was great! The staff were friendly and service was great. My wife realized she forgot her purse, she was probably buzzed from all that mozzarella, we went back and the staff had the purse behind the counter! We ate at the restaurant, don't let the entrance deceive you! The restaurant goes way back and opens up to several booths in the back with TV's and a nice restroom! Ordered a muffuletta sandwich which was worth 4/5 stars but took over 25 minutes to get it. Meanwhile, a couple came in over 5 minutes after me and they got their pizza 5 minutes before I got my take out. Never said they were sorry so I said something about it and the manager told me in a loud voice sandwiches take longer.
