There are not a lot of breakfast options in Highlands- so be prepared to wait in line! It's worth it. Lovely local breakfast !! Home cooked with local ingredients. Very friendly!

The Blue Bike is a popular breakfast place right in downtown Highlands and if you're looking for a nice local breakfast spot that has delicious regional fare, then you should add Blue Bike to your list. Even though it was already pretty busy, we were able to get a table for the three of us. The service is great and the staff is kind, as you'd expect. They have so many great options, but being in this part of the country, I gravitated towards the biscuits and gravy, given that is one of the specialties here, and the Unicycle had the best combo of what I was looking for: A biscuit, opened and covered with sausage gravy, 2 eggs, grits (I had pimento cheese added). The southern breakfast I had was delicious and I loved being able to have some pimento cheese with my grits. We do plan on being back in Highlands, which means we will be back to the Blue Bike Cafe as well.

Can't recommend this place enough! I had the classic eggs, bacon, toast, with a side of grits, and it was perfect. The toast came with homemade jam, and the grits were the real deal. Our table also ordered an omelet, biscuits, and pancakes, and everyone left full and pleased. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a good home cooked breakfast in Highlands.

We had a delightful breakfast at Blue Bike Cafe where the owner greeted us and was very charming. Our waitress was sweet and kind! Our food came out quick and had generous portions! Enough for 2-3 servings. Their buttermilk biscuits are heavenly with their lemon blueberry jam all homemade of course! They sell their jams too We had the shrimp and grits and and chorizo grit bowl and they were delicious! Do NOT salt your shrimp and grits because they were perfectly salted with lots of cheese and spicy red pepper sauce and 2 fried eggs!! All soooo good!

Delicious ribeye cheesesteak sandwich and pastrami Rueben are both great options. Good service and must stop when visiting.

I loved all the choices, biscuits, sausage and cheese grits. Very friendly service and lively atmosphere at a fair price.

A must eat breakfast spot whenever visiting Highlands, NC!! The staff is friendly, the food is delish, and the theming is cute! We tried the cinnamon roll pancake (holy good) & the unicycle! We can't wait to go back!

Exactly what I want on a vacation getaway weekend. Delicious, locally sourced, and hearty! Made from scratch makes the world of difference; topped with staff and management that care?! That's what this is all about. Warm and welcoming, if ever I find myself in Highlands overnight, Blue Bike it is!

Probably the only place open for breakfast and it's worth the shorter wait service is great and the food comes out fast. Nice balance of savory, healthy, and sweet options across the menu. Power bowl was fantastic. Ask for extra granola to get that texture.

Breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, tomato, cheese, and avocado on sourdough bread

Had a delicious breakfast sandwich! Sausage is almost like hamburger patties - so big.

It was more peppery than buffalo. Wings were cooked perfectly though Reuben is excellent as are the jalapeno Mac bites. Cheese dip was also excellent but we (and the table next to us) had to ask for more chips. Not portioned terribly well. Beer options were very slim (2 on tap from what it gathered). I'm sure there were plenty of bottled options but draft was disappointing. We ordered the ale but they tapped out and brought us brown ale. At 5pm...only a brown and stout on tap. Not expecting a craft beer bar inside but it had a big brew selection on tap with cocktails and wine too. Ordered three full slab of bbq ribs with cole slaw and shoe string onions for $34.00, thought it was pricey until I saw the plate coming toward me by the server with two half slabs (see pic).
