There's a stage for events. Appears to be pet friendly. Nice view of Main Street with shops, desserts & boutiques. You can watch both people & vehicle traffic. Service is quick, quiet & friendly. Lots of specialty drinks to choose from. Food is really good. The Smokehouse Burger is prepared to order with bacon, fried onion rings, melted cheese, tender, juicy, delicious. The good first. The burgers were very good. My wife and I enjoyed the burgers very much. Tasty, hot. While we were greeted and seated quickly, the service was subpar. The establish was not busy. The tables were sticky and had visible signs of glass rings. For not being busy, it took a considerable amount of time for the food to come out. While my food was very good, the wife had fries that were cold. We were served food without any utensils or napkins. It took 8 minutes for utensils to arrive and one napkin each. We asked for more napkins, which never came. My wife mentioned the cold fries and she was brought another serving of equally cold fries. When we were finished, I asked the server for a couple to go boxes. We received one and had to ask for more; eventually getting one more box. It took an additional 10 minutes to get the check, and another 10 to have it retrieved with the credit card. The neighboring table was also dealing with cold fries. read more

Stopped in for lunch. We sat out on the patio in the sunshine which was lovely. There was good music playing and our waiter was attentive. I left off one star because I have to say the chicken quesadilla I ordered was strangely flavorless. Not bad, just not great. Might need to season the chicken more and use a more flavorful cheese? I dunno, I'm not the expert! My bf liked his burger and the fries were good. I'd def go back for the vibes and try something different. It was lunch hour on Jan 2 and the crowd was decent, we arrived at 12:25ish and our party of four was seated fairly quickly. Service was a bit slow, but we figured that was due to the crowd. This location is much more divey than the Greenville, SC location, but it is noted that this is a bar. It is also noted that this is an outdoor bar, more so than an indoor bar, since the two garage doors open the indoor space to a very ample out door space with private and community tables as well as a small bandstand. You can sense that on a pretty spring or summer day/evening, this is a much more comfortable dining spot. Our order was taken and three of our four ordered the Brisket Dip. The problem comes when we have waited at least twenty minutes past our order to be informed that "we are out of brisket for at least 45 to 50 minutes." We reordered burgers. Requested to be put at the top or closer to it on the cook station rather than to have to wait even longer. It was still pretty slow, but we were not in a particular hurry. It was merely the inconvenience and the timing that was very off-putting and there was no consideration to offer a complimentary drink or dessert or really anything other than, "what else would you like?" The thing is that we didn't get this information until more than 20 minutes after ordering. So it was not the waiters fault, it was poor communication from the kitchen to the waitstaff. However, with brisket being a featured and popular sandwich, with brisket nachos and a brisket burger and brisket tacos also all on the menu, this is a serious mid-day poor execution for the kitchen. One of our dinner guest didn't get his tots order and was given some black beans instead, when the food arrived, and then was brought a separate order of tots that looked as if 3/4 of them were older and got a second drop in the oil to refresh them, at least compared to my fresh tot order. The burgers were all decent. My medium burger was cooked well done though. It felt an awful lot like this restaurant was having an off day and unfortunately it was a busy day and I suppose following NYE things were not running as smoothly as normal. read more

Took my daughter to Universal Joint for her birthday. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun, and the service was superb. We tried the Smash Burger, Brisket Nachos, and Blackened Fish Tacos. We came to Clayton as a stop and had lunch at this place, that is located right on Main Street. It is a casual vibe and we were attracted to the large outdoor seating area they had. It is covered and there are fans as it was pretty hot the day we were there. Our server was attentive, but took some time getting to us as it was pretty busy. The menu has some great options and I ended up going with the Brisket Dip. The sandwich was hearty and was cut in half, making it easy to dip. The roll was nice and soft and it came with a side, which I chose to be tater tots. You got a lot of those with your meal, which came out quickly. I had a Greek side salad that was small in size but did have a lot of variety in toppings. I also ordered the pimento cheese plate. It was a lot more than I expected. It was clear the tilapia was picked up at the Walmart freezer along with the frozen chicken cutlets. I've had better fries from a leftover McDonald's happy meal. Our party of 6 was surprisingly seated quickly at 7pm on a Friday, probably because it was rainy and the main draw is the outdoor seating area. I regret not getting pics of the food, but the quesadilla, turkey pita, and grilled chicken salad we ordered were all presented well and delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and made sure that our glasses stayed full and we had everything we needed. Meals were in the $13-$20 range, so very affordable for ballin' on a budget. Stopped here after a hike to pinnacle knob. It's in downtown Clayton and you would need to find street parking. They have a great draft selection with local beer, craft beer and also German beer like paulaner and my favorite Guinness at fantastic prices. They were very busy, as it was July 4 week. But we were able to get a seat inside as soon as we walked up. Our waitress was extremely busy, so one of the hostesses helped her out and took our order. She said it was delicious! I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich which came on a brioche bun. I like that the chicken was grilled, but there wasn't much of it compared to the bun. It was still pretty good, though. My mom had the blackened flounder tacos with corn tortillas, and she thought it would have been better as a salad. The tortillas were floppy and fell apart quickly. Stopped in to this refurbished gas station because Yelp said it was good. Food was ok. I had the fish taco's. Blackened does not mean dried out!! My husband said the burger was great. Don't expect anything fabulous with the tots. Have no idea why there are so many reviews that they are great. Service was fair. The bathroom is what did it for me. My wife, daughter and I drone to the Clayton location for dinner last evening. We have frequented the Lawrenceville and Claytons due to the excellent food and service. Unfortunately the food was well below par on our visit. We ordered 3 burgers and all were overcooked, Additionally 2 of the 3 side dishes (tots & fries) were undercooked were cod when served.
