We had an exceptional lunch at The Hush Cuban kitchen & bar today, and honestly, it was some of the best Cuban food we've ever had. We started with the beef empanadas, which were traditional, flavorful, and perfectly done. Then came the Cubano, and wow, absolutely outstanding. The pork was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender with just the right amount of crispy pieces that gave it incredible texture and flavor. We also ordered the Cajun Arroz con Pollo, and it completely blew us away. It was packed with flavor, the crispy chicken was truly perfect, and the Cajun seasoning was spot on, bold and delicious without being spicy. From start to finish, every bite was memorable. Excellent food and service. We ordered the Ropa Vieja and the Avocado Salad--wow! Such a delight for the palette. The salad came with a whole avocado over fresh salad greens, tomatoes, pork and black beans. My only complaint I got full too fast. The ropa vieja was packed with flavor too. We had a shot of Uncle Nearest that was a generous pour. We will definitely return and encourage any visitors to make this a must try! Update! I wrote this review before we got our bill. The Uncle Nearest Whiskey shot was priced at $6. We were charged $10 and stated we had Jack Daniel's whiskey! When we pointed this out to our server, she said, "oh no, we have new menu prices, ok?" We ordered: - the yucca cheese fritter (comes with 5 pieces): a great way to get started - an avocado salad with pork: this was the sleeper favorite of the night. While proportion of meat to vegetables was straight out of a stereotype, the meat tasted so good and unusual. We all fought over the last scraps of - the Lechon asado: pork chops with plantains, rice, and avocado salad. We visit here mostly with friends, but sometimes we go just as a couple. The staff are always friendly, and the food is good. Hush is located just down the hill from downtown Clayton, so it's a perfect spot to stop before or after shopping. Driving home from Florida on our way to Gatlinburg we passed through Clayton Georgia when I saw a sign for Cuban Sandwichs. NOW we are in the mountains and a place has Cubans we have to stop. What we find is a town with a great food scence and this Cuban restaurant is letting the way. The Cuban sandwich is equal or better as any sandwich from Florida. The bread was excellent with loads of pork and ham that all married with the pickles and mustard to create the perfect sandwich. Oh yeah and the with had a great chicken bowl that was very very good with great seasoned chicken and rice. I ate dinner here on a weeknight while visiting Clayton. It was about 6:30 pm and there were two parties ahead of me at the front desk. Plenty of open tables but I think the place may have been short of staff. I was eventually seated on the covered porch which was very nice, except for the couple with a dog who were at the next table. The dog was restless and barked a lot. I had a fruity rum cocktail. The menu didn't list the ingredients so I asked and my server also had to go ask the bartender. It was beautiful and tasted good. I also had the yuca cheese fritters which were great balls of fried cheese with an aioli sauce and pickled onion on the side. Five balls in the order, served on a banana leaf on the plate. My entree was the lectin asado. Barbecued pulled pork with yellow rice, black beans, fried plantain, and a slice of avocado. That was really delicious. I should have stopped there; it was more than enough food. But a sweet sounded nice so I let myself be talked into the banana bread pudding. It was the only disappointment of the evening. It was fine, but not up to the standard set by the earlier dishes. Served in a plastic cup with a plastic spoon, it could have been prettier. The nilla wafer on top was so soggy it disintegrated when touched. The dessert tasted all right and it was a good size. The was a large parking lot by the restaurant and there's also street parking and some nearby city free parking areas. I walked from the place I'm staying. This restaurant is at the end of the busy section of Main Street. Easy to find. read more

Clayton has some very good restaurants and this one ranks very high on the list. I started with the shrimp Ceviche and it was served perfectly. Vegetables were crisp yet marinated and the shrimp was the perfect texture. Also had the cubano sandwich and it was very authentic tasting. As locals, we have eaten here before and loved everything we ate and drank. The service was fast and friendly. So today we stopped in again. I'm sure the food and drinks would have been equally as good as before. However we sat for more than 10 minutes while others who were seats after us were waited on. No drinks, no one came by the table. So when we got up to leave, we were told to "have a great day!" I replied that no one had come to the table. She replied, "you could have said something" and made some other comments while walking away. If no servers are around or come to the table to even take a drink order, is it really the customer's job to find someone to take our order? In my experience, that doesn't bode well for good service for the rest of the meal. read more

My husband and I were visiting and went to The Hush after reading the reviews on a Friday night. We went early (we were hungry) and it was honestly one of the BEST meals we have had in a loooong time. Naomi, our server, was excellent. She made suggestions after we asked her since we wanted everything on the menu. We got the cajun arroz con pollo and capacha with roasted pork. The flavor on everything was absolutely phenomenal. Even the sides of rice and beans and plantains were top notch. We also split a banana pudding which we thought we would take some home; not so much...we finished it because it was so delicious. When we were leaving, we met the owner and told him how much we enjoyed our meal. He told us to wait and gave us about a half a loaf of pumpkin bread. They are getting ready to open a bakery and if that bread is any indication, it will be fantastic and we will be ordering online! Highly recommended. This is a clean, casual spot on the edge of downtown. There's a small parking area in front of the building, which is helpful since parking can be a challenge in Clayton. We were seated quickly and our server was pleasant and efficient. I had a sangria, while my husband had an IPA. Both were priced really competitively for a restaurant, especially in a tourist heavy area. The lechon asado was slowed cooked and flavorful. The mango black bean bowl with shrimp was tasty and portioned well. We'd certainly stop by again if we are in the area. read more

Sunday family meal together. Love the homey, artsy atmosphere. Inside and outside dining. It was busy at 12:15 as you would expect but all 6 of us were seated within 10 minutes. Service was very good considering the place was packed. They offer Brunch but we chose the main menu today as this was our first visit. I had the Fried Grouper Sandwich & Fries. My expectations were low till I took the first then second bite's. I didn't want to stop but I had to try the fries and after 4 or 5 I went back to the sandwich. Lightly fried and batter, seasoning spot on with a wonderful sauce. Fries crispy and seasoned well. 2 ordered the Latin Rice Bowls with choice of protein. I tried the roasted pork served with cilantro rice, black beans, corona, pico, quac, cream and sweet plantain. So So Good. 2 Cubano's I didn't try those because they were guarded but I could tell by quietness and lip smacking they were enjoyed. Son had the Boliche, Cuban beef roast with chorizo, a rich delicious sauce, served with rice/black beans, avocado & plantain. I tried it, I can't describe it, tender, flavorful, spicy but not too much, all items served together made for an excellent lunch. Everyone, including the younger one's thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We love visiting this region and are always looking for new dining spots. Based on the amazing reviews we gave the Hush a shot... OMG, so delicious! We started with the Bean Dip and we were surprised that it was chilled. It was so good my husband and I wanted to lick the bowl. We came for the Medianoche but they were unfortunately sold out. We switched to the Lechon Asado and it was yummy. Needed a little extra sauce but was perfectly prepared and delicious. The literal cherry on top was the Tres Leches... probably the best I've ever had. It came in a little plastic cup so I wasn't expecting much... but OMG... so special! The restaurant is in charming downtown Clayton and you can walk around and shop after (you'll be too full to drive). Cute interior but we opted for a seat on their lovely covered patio. Service was quick and kind. If I could give them 4.5 stars I would... it was just a smidge shy of perfect. We WILL be back soon for sure! read more

This place was fantastic! I lived in Miami for 15 years and this is the most authentic Cuban restaurant outside of it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
