Hole in the wall amazing! Fresh homemade pizza, quality ingredients, great service, and homemade gelato. The chef is from italy, and the flour is imported. Got the diavalo, and two custom pizzas with pepperoni. Diavalo could have been spicier, and needed peppers. Make sure you call ahead for mortadella... they were out when i went. And that's my main reason for going... SAD. read more

This restaurant is worth the stop! This was our first visit to Caffe Italia. We came with 7 people in our party. We ordered the lobster ravioli- it was so good!! We ordered two different pizzas and the godfather panini. My son said the panini was the best Italian dish he has ever had. We tried the gelato- yum!! The service was great. We were in Franklin for the gem show and gave Leo's a try and we absolutely loved it. Truly Italian! We had pizza and a calzone and everything was perfect. The flour and other ingredients are imported from Italy and it tasted just like the food we experienced in Florence Italy. We liked it so much we went back a second night with friends. We recently hired Leo's to cater our club event. Everything was outstanding! Anthony was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. The response from club members was great. I've eaten a margarita pizza at Leo's Cafe, and it was delicious. Then I ordered one for takeout, and it was disappointing. No fresh mozzarella cheese or oregano. So the next time I ordered, I requested just a regular pizza. It too was disappointing. Both pizzas were covered in cheese with almost no sauce. Saying almost no sauce is being generous. I am assuming there must have been some tomato sauce somewhere, but I couldn't see it or taste it. A crust with melted mozzarella cheese is not my idea of a pizza. The only difference between the margarita and the regular pizza was the slices of plum tomatoes, one per slice, on the margarita pie. For the cost of one of their pizzas ($30), I can buy three or four frozen pies at Ingles that taste a heck of a lot better. read more

What a treat to find Leo's Caffe Italia in Franklin! The gelato was fabulous and it is made in an Italian gelato machine. We had paninis that were on freshly baked bread. They were delicious. Along with the paninis came a beautiful salad with shaved parmesan. We also sampled the roasted potatoes with rosemary and parmesan. Next time we will come earlier before they are in short supply. The guests at the next table said the pizza is superb and the tiramisu is the best they have ever had. So we grabbed a tiramisu on our way out, and next visit we will have pizza. There is nothing quite like a pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven. Those charred bits just add a little something extra. Order at the counter, pay, and they will bring the food to you. They allow dogs on the outside porch. Service is good and personable. They also make gourmet Italian pastries, gelato, and a selection of coffee drinks along with sandwiches and salads. I had the Margherita pizza (excellent dough), a fresh made chocolate cannoli filled with vanilla ricotta with fresh pistachios on top. Best I've ever eaten. Also had a perfectly made double expresso. Today is our Anniversary. Not many places are open for lunch or dinner on Mondays in Franklin. However, we were lucky to find Leo's Caffe Italia was open and we gladly celebrated there. We opted for an indoor table. This gave us a front row view of all the happenings and an up close peek at the food coming out. There is outdoor seating and plenty of parking. The caffe isn't large, but the food they put out has huge flavors. All dishes and treats are made in-house. Pasta, pizza, gelato and pastries... a visual jackpot as you look around this adorable caffe. The staff is kind, personable and helpful. You order and pick up at the counter. Food is served in plastic takeaway containers. This is nice if you choose to eat on the patio or take away for a picnic. We started with their CALABRESE ANTIPASTO. It was loaded with high quality Italian meats atop a bed of very fresh arugula. Aged parmesan dotted the dish along with sun-dried tomatoes, kalamata olives and onion jam. It was served with a nice Italian roll. Yum! This was a great starter. We shared a MARGHERITA PIZZA. This is a lightly sauced pie with fresh ingredients. The house made mozzarella was to die for. The thin crust had a good chew and the browned edges from a brick oven, added to this yeasty crust. Well done chef! My husband ordered the IL CAPO. The bread was very good. It was the perfect surround for the meats, cheese and fresh veggies. Prosciutto, Italian pepperoni, capicola, provola, arugula, tomato and onions. It's served with a side of tasty roasted, Italian cheesy potatoes that complimented this sandwich. It was an unexpected upgrade from the normal chips or fries you get at other restaurants. This is a solid sandwich combo. We ate only half of our dishes to save room for the desserts that tempted us as we entered Leo's. So many choices were available. However, we opted for cherry gelato and a chocolate cannoli. The chocolate cannoli was impressive. The shell was hand dipped and you could taste a bit of cinnamon. The creamy mascarpone filling was not overly sweet but perfect mate for the sweet chocolate shell. Chopped pistachios garnished the ends and the contrasting textures awaken the tastebuds. The cherry gelato had thick swirls of cherry purée and whole dark cherries, not dyed red cherries many put in their ice cream. This was quite possibly some of the best cherry gelato/ice cream I've ever tasted. Creamy on the tongue and so very smooth. This gelato will make you giddy! This is what gelato should be. I will dream about this gelato and it will call me back there time and time again. We were thrilled to have finally tried Leo's and celebrate our special day at new place in town. You must go and try this food. You will not be disappointed! read more

What a delight to find this little gem. I've been there 3 times already and my husband more. He says the gelato, tiramisu & cannolis are fantastic. He pops in there occasionally for espresso and a cannoli. He's Italian by the way, and gives them 5 stars. I've enjoyed a panini, pizza & salad on my visits. All delicious! dining in restaurant serves food in plastic container. serves $20 antipasto with two pieces of flatbread which is certainly not enough and when you ask for a few more pieces the server went and sicked a man from the back to come to our table and yell at us because we need to pay money for extra bread. More than tacky. i'm not paying restaurant, high end, prices and being served in plastic and Styrofoam with plastic fork and spoon. The table next to us got their pizza totally chard all black burned pizza and they were afraid to say anything and just got up and left it there. Who in their right mind would serve pizza that is black burn chard to a customer that's horrible never again. read more
