This is a decent Mexican place in the Dillsboro / Franklin area. It is ideally located along the US-441/23 with lots of parking. The servers and waiters are very friendly and always smiling. The food is usual Mexican food but is a little bland. You will need to add some more salt and pepper if you want a spicy palette. The service was slow when we went there... our simple veggie fajita too almost 30mins to arrive. Overall it's a decent place to have a quick Mexican food when you are visiting or you are a local. read more

Franklin has quite a few Mexican restaurants for its size. Overall the Mexican restuarants across the entire south tend to be sub par. I stopped in here the other day and even though this was the first visit this one seems to be better than the norm. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week! Price are reasonable. I started with a margarita, and they have 3 sizes: $2.50 $3.50 and $4.50. I opted for the $4.50 and it was huge! Pretty good too. I noticed the beer menu and it was reasonable too. Domestic beer $2.25, and imports $2.50. They even had Bohemia which is harder to find than the cheapest Mexican beers at the same price. Most Mexican restaurants dont even serve Bohemia. (Bohemia is Mexican from Monterrey Mex) At the bar were 9 guys chatting away. I could tell from the accents most, if not all, were Mexican. There were also Mexican customers eating at tables. Most all other Mexican restaurants in Franklin have ZERO Mexican customers. Thats another good sign! I ordered a combo plate, #7 which was $7.49. It was average. Often combos offer the cheaper grades of food so next time I will try something better. Inside the relleno was white melted cheese that appeared it could have been from a can. If so I hate that. The cheese on the refrieds and enchilada appeared to be real. The enchilada was made with basic ground beef. Most any other thing inside would have been better. This restaurant should NOT be confused with another NC chain with several locations in NC and North GA. It goes by Mi Pueblo with an outline of a Pueblo style building. This is not that chain. I will be back and check out more menu options and update this as I do. For now I will give it a 4 star. read more

Listen to me Franklin! Listen to me Franklin! This is a Hidden Gem in your city. We were up here on business and decided to drop in and so glad that we did! Javier was our waiter and he explained a few line items from the menu and the selection was plentiful. I decided on a Texas margarita with a variety of tacos. Two of the tacos were al pastor and the other two were steak tacos (see picture). Rhonda had the Mexicano chicken burrito and it was fantastico!!! Dang, I wish I would have ordered that also because of the green sauce. The green sauce was amazing, matter of fact, it was the best green sauce that I've ever had from a Mexican restaurant. You simply have to go there and try it and then you will understand why I am raving about it so much. Don't let the strip mall location discourage you...very clean, hospitable and delicious food. We have eaten Mexican food all over the country, and this place is one of our happier experiences. Service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. Everything was fresh and properly seasoned. Don't miss the small guacamole dip appetizer. It is enough for 2-3 people and is excellent. Beef fajitas were also wonderful, and we brought enough home for another meal. No. Just no. Los Tamalitos is not authentic Mexican--few places are, but it's not very good Tex-Mex either. We chose from a typical list of lunch combos where the only filling choices were chicken or (ground) beef. My wife had a beef chimichanga with rice and I had a beef taco, enchilada, and a chile rellano. The beef was extremely underseasoned and had very little flavor. The sauce on the rellano and the enchilada was sweet, as in ketchup sweet, and did not taste at all of Mexican seasoning. The two waiters there were friendly and cheerful, but I'm sorry, based on the food I can't recommend Los Tamalitos to anyone. read more

Don't think this place is located correctly on map or maybe it's my service. When you walk into a Mexican place and there nothing but Mexicans, you know what's up. Tried the Street Tacos and the large beer. Stupid amazing. Best tacos I've ever had and the bartender got me drunk. Large beer is more like 2 and half beers. Manager is spot on with client experience. He made my birthday afternoon perfect. Thanks guys! read more

I went yesterday and omg the worst service I've experienced, I order wings and fries for my and my mom, and a shot I mean shots are usually not even 5 dollars for a good shot, and they charge 8.99 the dang shot wtf? So in all that I Pay $40.00 plus tip do like $50.00, yeah the food is good but service was awful and prices super super high!!! Oh man! They need to change those prices cuz ain't worth it! read more

On a Sunday, we were coming through Franklin looking for something to eat. This place only had one review which made us a little weary, but it was the only Mexican place open on a Sunday. Really not as good as we hoped considering the rating. Food was fresh, but really bland. Guacamole that was supposed to be made there tasted about like what you get prepackaged at the grocery with a little fresh pico on top, but again lacked the spiciness you expect with Mexican food unless you ask for extremely mild. Every time we eat here, our food comes out fast, there's never a long wait time. Wait staff is friendly, and restaurant is clean. We eat lunch here often. Also one of few Mexican restaurants here in town that carries my favorite dish. Great price great service and great menu! read more
