Food is yummy, service is good and serving size is enough for 2 meals! Both of the times I've visited they have seated us right away, even when they appear very busy. They have a very extensive menu with something for everyone; chicken, pork, beef and vegetarian. The servers are very attentive, stopping by to refill drinks, check on the food, etc. Their prices are very reasonable also. We will be back. read more

I'm not sure what all the hype is with this place. The food doesn't have any seasoning to it whatsoever. Not even salt or pepper. I'm fairly certain that I can make better tasting food at home - shoot, Taco Bell puts more seasoning on their food and they don't try to extort you out of 4% of your check if you pay with a debit card. Our waitress was present until the food came out and then she disappeared. We had to hunt her down just to get the check and then they charged us $3 without any warning for my mother bringing in a 20 oz. diet ginger ale. This place is a black hole for tourists to get "Mexican" food. I'll go to any other place in town because they at least know what seasoning is. read more

This was my first dining since it became El Charro Mexican Grill. I guess I picked a bit of a hectic night as they had a large group having a Kazoo and Ukulele night Our waiter took it all in stride being a seasoned professional he kept us attended to and happy. I ordered a large beef burrito and my wife had a chicken and chorizo dish. Both were ample in proportion and the flavor was spot on delicious! We both had enough to take half home and even days later heated up the flavor was most delicious! I know they have an open bar because I heard overheard drink orders, but neither my wife nor I drink. They had a setup for live bands which they may have on weekends. As I said though this was my first venture since the new restaurant took over and I did enjoy it! read more

As we aren't from Franklin, we asked locals for a recommendation. They did not steer us wrong. The number of people going there for lunch, was a good indication of how popular this place is!! The brightly painted booths & chairs create a very happy & festive ambiance. The service was very good. Prompt & friendly, & they were patient with us, as we were unfamiliar with their extensive menu. We had a party of five, and everyone's food disappeared! First of all, there is absolutely no social distancing. I am sitting her at my booth with my mask on because a 10-top with kids is less than 2 feet from me! Secondly, everything i ordered was not good. The cheese dip was bland. I asked for pickled jalapeños and received a huge bowl of chopped fresh jalapeños. Why? Who would ever need that much? My enchiladas were so bad I sent them back and didn't want anything in exchange. My friend ordered fajitas and waited 4 minutes to get her tortillas. My other friend ordered nachos and got some dry ass cooked then frozen then thawed bacon on top. This is literally the worst Mexican restaurant in Franklin. read more

My first impression was the parking situation... it is a "get in where you fit in" kind of situation behind other buildings, or street parking if you can find it. The store front itself is very hidden if you didn't know it was there, however very cute little patio area outside the main entrance. As far as the service, I can't really express fully on my experience seeing that I ordered my food to-go; however, the ladies that helped me we very sweet in that short transaction time. Food quality wise.. VERY UNIMPRESSED! I ordered a multi-meat fajita mix of fish, shrimp and steak. For starters the steak was ver small cute, almost to the size of ground beef or slightly bigger than that. I had only 3 peace's of shrimp, and unseasoned fish covered in what looked like tomato paste. Very tasteless and a bit disappointing. read more

Food was good so was my "custom" margarita made with patron. I had the carnitas and I really like them, a little more seasoning maybe but that's just me. Every time I go here I come hungry and leave saying I'll be back. Food arrives to you table hot, delicious, and looking just as good as it tastes. Service is always very good, someone is always observing your table to see if it looks like you could use something to keep your experience positive. I always feel like giving a tip and I never feel disappointed when I give my hard earned wages to settle the bill. Four stars, huh? Live and learn, I guess. I probably should have gone with two. But the waitress was pleasant, so I went with three stars. For starters, I arrived abound 7pm on a Friday evening. They were fairly busy, but not THAT busy. I was alone and had to wait way too long to be seated. I don't know what the problem was. But it wasn't because they didn't have any empty tables. They did. For better or for worse, chips & salsa always sets the tone. Theirs were pretty lousy. The chips were crunchy. But that's about the only thing that I liked about them. The salsa had almost no flavor. It was some of the runniest salsa that I've ever had in a restaurant and it had no discernible flavor. No zing. I ordered enchiladas verdes with chicken. The entre was decent. Not outstanding, but not horrible. The rice that came with the enchiladas was OK. But nothing at this place was that good. Certainly NOT four stars. I'd look elsewhere for good Mexican. read more

They charge a 4% surcharge on all card purchases, even debit, which is illegal to charge on debit transactions. Pretty sleazy practice. I did not use my moms credit card for dinner to avoid this onerous charge, choosing to use my debit card, and they still ran it as a credit card transaction instead of debit so they could charge me the surcharge. I am from California and grew up eating Mexican food. This was my first time there. The Spanish rice was decent, while I have had better, it was still tasty. I had the taquitos which were very good! My husband had the filet de pescado and thought it was amazing. I am also gluten free and they had a fair amount of gluten free options. Especially if you focus on the menu items that are made using corn tortillas. (Hence the taquitos). I do recommend this place! read more

The food here is fairly good, and considering so many of the Mexican places in the south are SO bad, I'll rate this one 4 star. The service is attentive. The prices are surprisingly low. I opened the menu and felt like I stepped back in time. When I walked in the door I noticed a board with specials. Margarita $2,75. I got one and it was goood! I also noticed taco 90c, soft taco $1.50 I added a soft taco to a regular dinner combo just to see what came. The soft taco was larger and heavier than the normal soft taco you would get around at other places. Not huge, but much heavier with more filling for sure. In fact 2 of these alone would make a dinner for most people. The cheese was white! I know, your thinking why would you say that? True you expect white cheese. In Mexico its always white. Comes from a cow that gives white milk. But lately Ive had such bad luck with orange goo oozing out at other Mexican restaurants and the stuff probably isnt even a dairy product, so I was so happy again to see real cheese, no or artificial dye.
