In addition to the branch removals, tree shaping and trimming, Matthew took the time to replace an old cable on our biggest locust that he saw was cutting into the bark with a superior cabling system. Despite all the heavy branches that needed trimming, there was no damage to anything and cleanup was above and beyond. Jobs with him always start with a site visit, where he looks over the work that needs to be done, makes suggestions, offers advice, and ultimately provides an estimate for the work that needs to be done. His estimates are always accurate (I've never had one go over), and his team is thorough in the work they do. They do all manner of tree work, including removal (including large trees), thinning, even sculpting and trimming. His team is also trained to scale large trees with climbing equipment, so they can thin and trim even in very tallest of trees. SUMMARY: We strongly recommend Seattle Bamboo…read more We purchased a home in late May in West Seattle, and after closing noticed that bamboo was sprouting up in between some broken concrete in the side yard. Our nextdoor neighbor has a small but robust grove of mature bamboo on the other side of our fence, which is the source of our bamboo problem. We also had a couple of bamboo bushes on the other side of the house. The smaller bushes were taken care of promptly, including restoring the retaining wall blocks to their original position. One of those bamboo bushes has sprouted up again a couple of times, and Seattle Bamboo came out promptly to dig up the new growth - the guarantee was a big factor for us in selecting them. The side yard with the broken concrete was a much bigger issue, and Seattle Bamboo has done a fantastic job for us. Bruce supervised the concrete removal and methodically removed the rhizomes, which were so rampant that they had caused the concrete to break. At our recommendation, Bruce and Simonne are working with another neighbor who has also seen bamboo spread into their yard from the other neighbor's grove. When we came to understand the extent of the bamboo problem in our yard, we checked in with a couple of other bamboo contractors. While Seattle Bamboo wasn't the least expensive, we selected them based on our confidence in their service, their guarantee, backed by their endorsement from our real estate agent. Two final thoughts: if you have a bamboo issue, don't turn to just any landscape contractor - this is a very specialized issue. I hired Bruce for a bamboo removal job and deeply regret it. I had sent Bruce written communication from the next door neighbor that they would not remove the bamboo on their side of the fence. Once the project was started, Bruce had forgotten that. I have no control of what the neighbor does so making the job complete contingent on what the neighbor does after Seattle Bamboo has started working, makes no sense. When I ask him a staight question, I don't get a straight answer. It's like talking in circle. I sent him a drawing of a yard map of where the bamboo was coming up in the yard but he forgot about that and it was all news to him at where it is growing. He said never install a barrier and then later he said "you might need a barrier here". Something is just not right. He is all over the place. The whole time I'm wondering if he a carlatan or having a health issue. But, it became clear when the balance of the $4932 job was due. He sends the second invoice to a different email address than the first (6 days after sending the first invoice for the deposit). I try to pay with the first email again but it won't work because it's been paid. When it takes me three days (the weekend) to realize that he has sent the invoice to a different email address he has already threatened to call his attorney. I will be working with a different bamboo company from here on out and you should, too.
