We had a going away party with 8 on a Friday night a little over $1000.00 , the food was good , not amazing ...but the bad part was the temperature in litchfield's was miserable. It's hard to eat when your sweating . We asked to have air lowered but it never changed .The main building as you walked out was cool! We heard other people complaining, 1 couple said that's why they haven't been back to eat there . It's beautiful there that's for sure but it's just too hot to enjoy your food . I've been bugging my wife to go here for over a year. Finally got my wish on Father's Day. The good: cocktails, the citrus highball and Wigwam's Arizona Republic were very good as was the Field Greens. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The bread on the butter flight was stale and one of the three butters was good. My wife got the New York medium well and I got the special New York Oscar and we ordered the Boursin Mashed Potatoes as a side. My wife's New York was medium with no char and the potatoes were lukewarm. Potatoes were an easy fix, but the NY was still medium after sending it back and still no char. My crab cake was fine but a little fishy. My New York was medium but seemed to be a less quality cut, not as good as Texas Roadhouse. Some reviews refer to a steakhouse vibe. I would call it more old dinner restaurant at an old resort. Well-maintained though. Next time we want a good steak we'll go to Maestros. read more

Very disappointing! This is a beautiful facility & the food in the pics looks amazing. We decided to try it for my husbands birthday As we approached the restaurant - we started hearing very loud piano music. Made it difficult to even talk to the hostess to check in! We were seated & a young man brought us water soon after a waitress welcomed us & went over the menu. At this point we had already observed how terribly noisy it was! The piano bar was extremely loud- we could not have a conversation! Three staff people apologized to us about the noise. We finally asked to be moved to a table on the patio to get to a quieter area. We were moved & it helped a lot. After this we sat & waited for our waitress to return to take our order. We sat there for about 30 min. A staff person came over & apologized for the long delay & knew we weren't very happy. A few minutes later our waitress came. By now we had been there an hour & figured it would still be a long wait to get our dinner do we asked for our check for the 2 drinks we had. After paying $37. 00 for 2 drinks, waiting about an hour we left- again looking for a place to eat. Needless to say we were very disappointed. We felt like if you are asking us to pay over$60.00 for a steak & extra for sides we should getting excellent food & service! We have had better service & atmosphere st Denny's! We ended up getting a pizza! Yes-it was noisy- which expect in a pizza place! The staff was fast, polite & attentive. Perhaps Litchfields could get some training from them! read more

I stopped by here a couple of Tuesday nights ago with a group of 6 people included my wife and her immediate family. We had been wanting to eat at the Litchfield for quite a while but never had the time before this visit. It is located in the Wigwam and depending on how you enter it may very well be a long walk through the resort to the restaurant. It had both indoor and outdoor seating complete with a fire with the outdoor seating to keep you warm. We were sat inside though with a great view of the open kitchen complete with open flames. The inside of this place was nicely dressed up with a range of tables and booths and some really cool chandeliers as well. For dinner on this evening our table decided to split the calamari and pork belly for appetizers. The menu describes the calamari as coming with squash, zucchini, red pepper, charred lemon and red pepper aioli while the pork belly came with polenta, blueberry mustard, pickled onion, candied jalapeño and parsley. Both dishes were good with the proteins being cooked perfectly and my favorite parts being the red pepper aioli and blueberry mustard respectively. Of course I should also mention the polenta which may have been the creamiest polenta I have ever had. Then for my dinner entree I went with the yorkshire pork chop which came with white bean, barbeque, cucumber pickle and roasted jalapeño. My pork chop was decent sized and cooked very well, being both tender and very juicy. I liked the barbeque sauce and even though I am not the biggest fan of white beans, they helped round out the meal. Lastly my jalapeño was noticeably roasted and pretty spicy which I appreciated. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Everything at the Litchfield felt very first class, the food included. read more

Litchfield's has been our go to place for birthdays and anniversary celebrations. The food and service has always been 5 stars. We always tell our friends to come here. We went for my birthday yesterday evening.. We sat outside. The server was fine, but she had too many people to serve and no help. We had bread, salads and appetizers. No one was bussing the tables, except the busy server when she was able.. After finishing the appetizers that sat on our table for over 20 minutes, we then waited almost 40 minutes for our 3 scallops entrees. Do scallops and a child chicken tenders take that long to cook? By the end of the long dinner we decided to forget birthday dessert and just wanted to leave. :( read more

I made a reservation days in advance for dinner on Saturday night. When we arrived, early by a few minutes, we were told by the desk person "Let me see if we can find a table for you." Huh? I made a reservation well in advance. After sometime we were taken to basically an overflow area near a hallway and seated at a table that can only be described as tiny. I asked the girl to look into seating us in the restaurant and was told they could not accommodate us. Okay, then why accept our reservation? The food was okay. My partner had grouper and I had a steak. Both entrees were good but the portion sizes were small. The steak was thin and unremarkable, not at all what I would expect. The sides were very small. We had a bottle of wine and while good it was definitely overpriced. It was marked up four times wholesale which is a little out of the norm. I'd say the experience was less than satisfactory. A bit overpriced and certainly the seating was subpar at best. I doubt we will return with all the other choices in the Phoenix area. read more

The Wigwam is a staple of the Arizona luxury resort and has been around forever. I think it is or was the first 5 star joint in the Valley. A little dated but still had a great stay. As for Litchfield's. Busier than I expected so good for them, considering COVID. Got the Porterhouse which was a good cut of meat. Have to call this out though... They put a sauce on it the steak with a fancy name that I cannot remember, but seriously.. it was basically catsup. Awful. Don't ruin a good steak with catsup. Mac and cheese was also a bit "I made this at home while drunk" Staff was fantastic. Our server had a thick Wisconsin accent and was lovely. Piano player was a nice touch. We went for our 4th yr anniversary. My husband surprised me for dinner at some place different. He usually takes me to a steak house restaurant. I was pretty impressed the choice. I liked the ambiance and the casual laid back feeling. You know, the feeling like your clothes don't fit in so you don't lol. Our server was super sweet and knew her stuff. I asked for some recommendations and she gave some great ones. I know it's always awkward asking what they like because clearly they don't know you so her suggestions were great and on point. Now about the food: appetizer; we got the pork belly. Absolutely delicious. It had the best flavor. I am usually skeptical about pork belly because sometimes it can taste super fatty. This one did not. It had a great mixture of meaty and just a little fat. I don't know what the red sauce cranberry type was but it added great flavor with it. I didn't care to much about what was underneath it. Maybe it was cheesy mashed potatoes. We just ate the pork belly. My meal I ordered was the pork chops. It was thick and juicy. Not dry like I thought it would be since I didn't want it medium inside. Beans and bacon sliced were delicious. Beans weren't soggy either :) even the freaking cucumbers were good lol. My husband got the ribeye steak. He got cooked medium. (not my liking at all... I don't like for my steak to moo when I stick a knife in it) but according to him 'it's really good and cooked great and my favorite was the scallops on top. He was kind enough to give me one. We laughed and said those were $7 a piece. A little pricy for just two pieces. But at least they were good. The asparagus was cooked great not soggy at all, I didn't care for the yellow sauce. It was a bit salty for me. Overall it was a great experience and a good anniversary dinner :) read more

We heard so much about this place. So we drove all the way from Scottsdale to try this restaurant for our date night. The ambience and the open kitchen is really beautiful. The service was very slow and when we did get the food initially it tasted really good. Of 4 scallops, at least 2 of them have fine sand in them and it was hurting our teeth. When we wanted to complain, there was no manager or waiter on the floor for very long time. When we did complain in the end, they didn't even properly acknowledge our complaint. They didn't care so much and said no body complains about sand in our food and left it at that. read more

In A Nutshell: -I celebrated my 40th birthday at Litchfield's located inside Wigwam. -I couldn't have asked for a better place. -Real quick history lesson. -Wigwam, sits on 16,000 acres of land that was formerly used to grow cotton. -The cotton was used in Goodyear Tires, which is why the company bought the land. -Eventually the well-off executives families, decided to make Wigwam a resort due to the nice weather and facilities. -Litchfield's in recent years was renamed and reorganized. -Today, it has a fantastic rustic feel w/ warm wooden ambiance. -The service is first-class. -The open kitchen uses a pecan wood-fired oven to cook all the protein. -Each season a new menu is offered, so 4 different menus year round. -Everything is farm-to-table and if it's not farmed locally, then it's shipped in fresh. We always have excellent food here so we decided to celebrate our Anniversary with a friend. We ordered the Berkshire Pork Belly which was excellent though small. My husband ordered the carrot soup and it was quite tasty. The three of us ordered the ribeye steaks. My husband's steak as well as our friends was good but not quite the caliber we are use to. I could not cut through my steak I turned it around and still could not cut through it. I let Mildred our waitress know and she offered to cut it for me ....REALLY!! I explained the steak seemed to be tough and would like another. She said she wasn't sure if the chef would do that but she'd ask. Well he said yes and I could cut my this steak. I had 2 tender bites and the remainder was somewhat chewy. Very disappointing!!! read more

Yummy appetizers (Brussel sprouts and shishito peppers) and grilled Caesar salads, Boursin mashed potatoes, excellent butter cake and sorbet. I'd give them a 5 star review but our rib eye was cut really thin, and for the price, not really great because it was cooked unevenly. THE PERFECT PLATE It's been a long, long time since I had as good a restaurant meal as over-the-top excellent, grand-slam-home-run great, as I did last night (April 22, 2022) at Litchfield's at the Wigwam Resort near Phoenix. The menu is relatively small compared to many up-scale restaurants, but don't let that fool you. They appear to be working toward perfection on a few things, rather than "that's pretty good" on a bunch of things. And in my case, without question they succeeded. It was the best restaurant meal I've had since a 2-Star Michelin meal 13 years ago in France. And by far, it was easily the best restaurant meal I've eaten anywhere in the Phoenix area. Details? Let's start, as I did, with the Berkshire Pork Belly. Perfectly sized, for one or sharing for two. I have this often as a starter, and this is the best I've had anywhere in the USA. Nicely seasoned, devoid of the "overly fattiness" often experienced in this dish. Perfectly rendered and served with cherry preserve (dried cherries in a light sauce) and, would you believe, bits of peanut brittle...a master stroke that added both a bright saltiness and sweetness as well as a textural contrast. A brilliant presentation on a bed of celeriac root (OK, just to retain some sense of pretend balance, a few drops of light heat in the celeriac root on the plate might be nice for a bit more color and more life to the celeriac. A very minor nitpick if I say so myself). Next, on to the salad...in many restaurants an afterthought, usually very nice but not something to write home about. Consider this my letter home. My wife and I chose to split the Gem Salad...and it turned out to be the best version of a Ceasar Salad we 've eaten since a Ceasar prepared for us tableside (eggs and all) in 1965 in the Matador Room of the famous Davenport Hotel in the Pacific Northwest. Fresh Romaine ends with a house-made Ceasar dressing lightly spread on the plate with lime oil (slightly tart and exceptional), with shredded bits of romano pecorino and perfectly crispy easy-to-eat flavored sourdough croutons. A salad perfectly sized when split for two. VERY tasty. And now for the closer. I had the Sea Bass, my wife the Jidori Chicken. Both were exceptional, and both were not something you will find on most any other restaurant menu in terms of their flavors and presentation. The Sea Bass, in particular, was the Perfect Plate...taste, texture, and presentation all right on the mark (I understand the chef often experiments with different presentations of the same dish as time goes on, but I hope he doesn't stray too far, too fast, with this one!). This sea bass, with perfectly browned and very crispy skin, was moist, flaky perfection. It was served on a bed of Forbidden Rice (black rice, never had it before, but I will again) in a light lime sauce with perfectly cooked sugar snap peas, a wonderful textural contrast and a great color addition to the plate. On the side near the sugar snap peas were seared and flavorful (but not overpowering) maitake mushrooms. As added color and contrast, a light green very thinly sliced mild-tasting seagrass was lightly swirled over the sea bass, rice, and mushrooms. I've never seen a plate of fish so nicely presented with other items, and outside of a meal we had at Le Bernardin in New York (the fish there must have been from another world, it was so good), Litchfield's was better than most any other fish anywhere I've eaten. My wife's Jidori Chicken with Peruvian potatoes was accompanied by excellent small pearl onions, baby planet carrots, and a very flavorful light background sherry sauce. It went far beyond most chicken dishes you get in most restaurants. As a small side we added Honey/Dijon new potatoes, mostly because we weren't familiar with some of the sides we'd be getting with our main course (such as the Forbidden Rice). It turns out we didn't need these, but they were very tasty anyway. They might have benefitted from a light sprinkling of sea salt before serving just to brighten them up a little, but that's as close as I can get to anything even close to negative about this meal. We obviously didn't try any of the steaks they serve or the risotto or other things on the menu, but if they can serve those items with anywhere close to the creative tastes, textures, and presentation in our meals, you can't miss. And no, neither my wife nor myself are related to or even know anyone at Litchfield's. It was a birthday gift from my wife, and we decided to try something different and outside of Scottsdale. We visited from out of town and had dinner here. The food was pretty good but options were very limited. If you have an aversion to salty foods you also may need to see a different establishment. If you show up on the weekends they have some live music which is also nice! read more
