Lisa Chang is the worst of the worst doctors I have ever had. She lied, cheated and forced me into an unnecessary C section only for her own convenience and serious infection to be hospitalized. On the first day I was in hospital for scheduled induction, she had 24-hour duty, went home to sleep and didnt return till i was into 37 hours on Pitocin. She poked my water without my permission, and caused me infection and my baby heart rate dropped into dangerous situations where I could only accept C section. She scolded me not to cry before entering the operation room, not worthy of crying?! while my life and my baby's life were in her hands. Only for a couple hundred dollars more, she wants a surgery instead of natural birth. For an insurance covered procedure, she lied to me its cosmetic, I paid her cash and extra. Later, both Blue Shield and Optum confirmed she never billed. After I asked my money back, she claimed through insurance. Don't even think twice, go find another doctor. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Chang! Her office is super efficient, her staff are all extremely warm and friendly, and Dr. Chang herself is phenomenal. She listens to your concerns, is extremely knowledgeable and has amazing bedside manner. Let's face it, no one jumps for joy over the idea of getting a pap - and some of us have had downright traumatic experiences in the past - but with Dr. Chang you can rest assured that it will be a breeze! It was over before I even knew it and it didn't even feel the least bit uncomfortable. She will also perform an ultrasound to ensure that your ovaries and uterus are structurally sound and there's no underlying issues which is a nice touch, especially since you don't need to schedule another visit solely for this as it's done in office by Dr.Chang herself! I'm so glad to have found her - a good OBGYN that makes you feel safe and comfortable is so hard to find these days but Dr. Chang is proof that they still exist! read more

I have been looking for a new OBGYN since my last one retired and her background impressed me. My mom was a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Huntington Hospital so I am partially biased to Medical Professionals that are affiliated to HMH because I know the level of care and medical experience required to be part of their staff. My first visit with Dr Chang did not disappoint. I waited 3+ months to see her and the overall experience was remarkable. Pros: Parking is located in the lot at the cul de sac. The office will validate. Cons: Parking is horrendous! I drove around 3x in the lot and eventually found street parking. **Highly recommend to come an hour early to find parking** This was our first visit with Dr. Lisa Chang. She is located on the 3rd floor and immediately checked in. We made it just in time and was immediately told, "we might have to reschedule bc the Dr has to leave. That's why we advised you to come 15 mins early. I did not even argue with her and I said, fine. When is the next available appointment. I filled out all the paperwork that was mailed to my house prior. She asked the Dr if she had time to see me and we were relieved that she did. Dr. Lisa Chang is so nice and thoughtful. It is so difficult these days to find amazing doctors because the great ones usually have a one year wait lol or aren't taking any new patients. I loved my last obgyn but unfortunately she stopped taking my insurance so I had to search for a new one. I feel so blessed that I was able to find Dr. Chang and that her office was able to fit me in two weeks later. Her staff is very attentive and kind. I was waiting for lab results and kept calling her office ( not the doctors fault the lab was behind) and her amazing nurse Maria called me back on Monday and gave me great news. I am so grateful she didn't forget about me over the weekend and that she called me first thing Monday morning to read my results. The doctor also has personally called me about results and answered any of my concerns. Going to these kind of appointments can make some feel really weird and uncomfortable but trust me Dr. Chang will make you feel comfortable and take care of you. When pregnant with my second child, we went from Kaiser to Aetna, and while I had no major complaints with my initial experience, this caused me to need a new ob gyn. I chose Dr. Lisa Chang for a couple reasons. Her offices are convenient to my house and work. On Mondays and Tuesdays, you can find her in Hacienda Heights, and Thursdays and Fridays you can find her in her Monterey Park office, off Garfield and the 60 fwy. The hospital I delivered at was Garfield Medical Center. I read reviews, and she did not have a perfect score, but none of the low scores were due to items that were important to me. I wanted a doctor who would safely be able to deliver my baby. That is exactly what I received. I had to have a scheduled c section. It was my first c section. While you may or may not plan to have a c section, it may become medically neccessary, and if that is the case, it's important to find someone who is good at what they do. I was beyond impressed by the surgery. Dr. Chang was calm throughout the entire procedure. The incision was well executed, and stitches extremely neat. My husband and I highly believe that my recovery was easy and short due to the quality of the incision and stitches, and the quality of the anesthesiologist. I was up and eating normal food by the second day, and going about my normal routine shortly after being discharged at home. I was relieved, because I've heard other people with c sections going through extreme pain for a long time afterwards. I preferred this experience to Kaiser, where a midwife delivered my baby, and my doctor wasn't present. Dr. Chang also did a great job on my son's circumcision. It healed cleanly. As for the monthly checkups leading up to the delivery, Dr. Chang was great. With my first, my doctor told me I was fat and was very rude. I ended up crying and feeling inadequate. Dr. Chang never made me upset. She was great at delivering news, and did so with tact and good timing. For example, I had a high risk condition of complete placenta previa, but my doctor never made me unneccesarily worried about it. We took it month by month, and Dr. Chang was very professional about explaining any potential risks. Dr. Chang also has very nice staff members. Items they can work on is not assuming I am Chinese (although my last name is Chinese, and I get it a lot, so it's okay). Also wait time is a little long for some appointments, but they were at Kaiser with my first, as well. read more

I chosen Dr.Chang because her office is so convenient with my work place, her office hours are either Thursday or Friday. I was a patient in 2019, initially coming in due to pelvic pain which came on suddenly and chronically in January. I was told for two appointments I went to in February and May that is was a cyst causing my pain and just take birth control for 3 years...and with no regard that I might actually want to get pregnant in the near future. I was told I should go for a second opinion by my primary since my symptoms worsened over the year. I went to another office in August but decided I wanted to continue seeing Dr. Chang since at the time I felt more comfortable there and the way her practice was ran (I never even actually saw a dr in the other place and they did nothing really) in December almost one year after my first time seeing her I had an appointment to talk to her and check in because I was still in pain every single day and it was getting worse, right when they called me in they asked if I've seen someone since her and I said yes. They told me I had to leave because I had no medical records, I sat and cried in my car for 30 minutes, I waited a month for this appointment and I felt so helpless. After being emotional about it I understood, its most likely a protocol they have that I must have missed in the forms I signed, I honestly don't know. They told me they would call me once the records were faxed over to rebook . I called them two days later since I didn't hear anything and asked and the woman who answers the phone told me that they got them then I asked to make an appointment and she let me know that the dr did not want to see me again, The way she said it to me I felt so embarrassed and completely caught off guard. I couldn't believe this happened and it caused emotional distress on. Everyone I have talked to about this (friends and other drs) also couldn't believe it and told me she didn't like me going to someone else. In feb 2020 I was finally able to get an appointment with a new dr, come to find out I don't have any cysts anymore and they were never the reason I'm in so much pain every day, I have endometriosis. If you suffer from pelvic pain this is not the Dr. for you, looking back I never felt welcomed there, I felt as though she has a certain attitude about her and her staffs attitude kind of matched. She never tried to get to know me and asked me questions like drs I've met recently. She didn't set up a plan for me and just fobbed me off, this is why so many women go undiagnosed for so many years and suffer in silence. Dr Chang completely lacks empathy. I feel like I wasted a year, I trusted her opinion even though I felt things weren't right. She made me feel like I should not question it and didn't like me once I did. The one thing that she did teach me that I need to be my own advocate. II ended up being misdiagnosed because she didn't care enough to dig deeper, do other tests...she just didn't care. I felt humiliated and I'm still so bothered to this day over this experience and how she and her office treated me. read more

First, I would like to say that I have not seen Dr. Chang personally, that I worked with her Nurse Practitioner - Amie Fong. I went into this office for my stander annual exam. What I wasn't expecting was the free ultrasound that the office provided as part of the exam. I was surprised when the Nurse said that she was going to do that next and asked if it had become standard procedure now since I had had an annual in 18 months - she said no, just that this office decided to provide it as part of the annual because they would be able to help catch things early and help people get care. I was very impressed. Courteous staff, low wait time, my scheduled appointment was only 5 days out form the scheduling day, free parking lot, close to the freeway, easy to find the building. read more

There was miscommunication when I tried making the appointment due to Covid protocol. It is not they are rude. It is just that I felt I should have seen doctor right away for my then condition. Dr. Chang explained the situation thoroughly out of her busy schedule. Because I had to send my medical history in advance as requirement to make appointment (if you have one), it saves both of our times. If not, I can imagine I would have to make additional/follow up appointment. This is a plus. She answered all the questions that I had, and advised for the next step. The office is clean and there is no wait time. It is very rare or none in the area that doesn't have wait time (average 30 minutes even you have appointment) to be seen by the specialist. I cannot thank enough Dr. Lisa Chang/Perinatal team and all the staff at Garfield Medical Center who took care of me and my baby! I had complications during my pregnancy and during those 9 months i honestly say that my OBGYN and Perinatal team did an excellent job to be able to have my baby in healthy and stable condition. Dr. Chang is very calm and knowledgeable when it comes to discussing sensitive medical issues with her patient. My PCP gave me lists of OBGYN and she had me chose which do i like to be referred to. I checked Dr. Chang reviews thru Yelp and other websites and decided to see see her after i had stillbirth (with different OBGYN) and miscarriage before my recent pregnancy. She was nice and she will explain every detail you asked her or if you have any concerns/fears about the pregnancy. I am really scared of this pregnancy due to my past experiences but she assured me that the baby will be okay for as long as i followed what they told me to do. Her staff were also respectful and easy to make appointment at either one of her office locations-Monterey Park and Hacienda Heights. From my experience when I asked questions about my pregnancy situation, doctor Chang said "why you are so controlling?" Excuse me, I have the rights to know my medicine situation and have rights to ask you questions about my pregnancy as you are my ob doctor. I don't understand how come this is controlling! I am impressed so far will update later as I get to know the dr and staff. I had my first appointment September 20th with Dr Chang. I am a nurse myself and worked with numerous obgyn doctors caring for patients getting surgeries. I found Dr Chang professional, kind, and thorough! She did not rush my first appointment. The staff was efficient despite it being quite busy in the Monterey Park office. I was almost sure I was going to eventually switch obgyns since I worked with a specific doctor in Anaheim for 6 years I felt like I would prefer a doctor I was familiar with. However, after meeting the young and sweet Dr Chang, my husband and I really loved her and decided to stick with her. After working with doctors for many years you get a feel for their bedside manners and which ones are just in a hurry to go about their day and forget about their patients. Thus far, I found Dr Chang to be pleasant and she answers all questions patiently. Especially since I had many quesfonbeing in healthcare myself it makes you more paranoid about what you can and can't eat or other restrictions. I am a little concerned that since Dr Chang works out of Garfield medical center I won't be able to deliver at my workplace which would be slightly more convenient as I know the obgyn anesthesiologists who do the epidurals etc. But I am willing to let that go in order to continue to see Dr Chang! UPDATE****: If I could give 10 stars to Dr Lisa Chang I would. we delivered our baby girl Skylar in April 29th 2019 after a long labor. Our plan was for a natural vaginally delivery. Dr Chang was amazing and professional. Unfortunately my labor was longer than I thought it would be via induction. Nevertheless, Dr Chang was extremely professionally and an amazing doctor. I was so happy we were able to deliver baby vaginally. At one point during the active labor process, I was concerned things were not progressing as they should. Our nurses kept telling us our baby might not be in the correct position and was basically "sunny side up" facing up and head down. Dr Lisa Chang helped us delivered our baby via a vacuum which is not always ideal but better than having to opt for a C section! I truly love Dr Chang. We have been visiting Dr. Chang's office during the second pregnancy for my wife. She has 2 locations, one in Hacienda Heights, and the other in Monterey Park. Both of her office locations are top-notch with efficient technology use. Less paperwork to deal with as most of the forms is filled-in digitally in an iPad. The appointment policy is very strict but for a good reason. The wait time to see the doctor is minimal. The doctor is very helpful, caring and informative about every step of the visit. Unfortunately, I had a move of my residence and the doctor's location became too far. But I'd again take my wife back to her given the convenience of my resident location. read more

Staff aren't very professionally trained and dr is always not in office. As a cash patient I feel like they didn't really care much about their patient overall well beings. They kept asking me to go see them again when I just ask for a simple request which they could've handle it in an easier way for both me and them. At the fisrt visit, my anxiety was calmed down with her sweetest smile. Dr. Lisa Chang is basically a modernized doctor. She let me talk and ask questions then she told me what to do and be done with me. She explained some side effects after surgery, even drawing a diagram to make sure that I understood completely. My surgery was LAVH bilateral salpingo oophorectomy. This is the best way for my postmenopause. She does ultrasound on almost all of your visits. Dr. Lisa Chang always shows genuine concerns to your issues and makes sure that when you leave the office you are comfortable/ concern were met. Especially, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to call the office. The staff is usually very good at letting Dr. Lisa Chang know and she would call you back later. I am extremely grateful for Dr. Lisa Chang. She is very young, beautiful, professional and a great one taker. My surgery was successful at the Garfield Medical Center, on March 1st, 2017. Worst doctor ever! My OB's office is closed due to Covid, otherwise, I wouldn't make an appointment to see her, she is the worst doctor I have ever seen. Dr. Chang is very impatient, mean, and rude to her patients. After she found out I was there to ask a simple question instead of doing an annual check-up, her attitude became so bad. She was yelled at me when I asked her can I do a Pap smear since she is going to do an ultrasound check-up, and it only takes her 3-5 extra minutes, then she was yelling at me saying that why all Libra love to change mind? I am very busy my next patient is coming, you said you gonna do your annual check-up and Pap smear at your doctor's in January, why you want me to do it now? I told her I still want to do my annual check-up with my doctor, but since she is going to do an ultrasound, and I am already undressed, so maybe she can also do my Pap smear at the same time, but she refused, and kept saying how I wasted her time! Come on, my appointment was 1:00 pm, I got there around 12:55, the office let me in at 1:08, and saw her at 1:19, I was out at 1:44. Only 25 minutes including doing an ultrasound, and she was still complaining that I took up too much of her time and refused to do a Pap smear?? She could do a Pap smear exam for me if she could shut up and stop complaining. She didn't care and wouldn't listen to my problem, when I tried to tell her my symptoms, she kept cutting me off. When I asked a question, she replied back by saying that " Oh, I don't know which famous doctor told you that, but it doesn't work in that way....." I told her no famous doctor, it was google. Why are you acting so mean, emotional, and unprofessional? Because I don't want to do the annual check-up with you??? She is that type of doctor who only wants to hear something she wants to hear, you can't question her. Very disappointed, money threw into the water, never go back again! Providing an update since my first visit. I continue to highly recommend Dr. Chang. Dr. Chang was my obgyn for both of my pregnancies. She was always on top of my care, my babies care and always so helpful and comforting. She takes her time during appointments to ensure your questions are answered, she's intelligent and an expert. She is very on top of her work and the staff is also very professional, reliable and hard working. I had to have a csection for both both babies. Dr. Chang did such an excellent job. Even the nurses would tell my incision looked amazing. I did not require any pain medication ever after my c sections. She must be doing something very precise and careful for that outcome. She also did an excellent job on my sons circumcision. He returned safely with no tears. She is overalls just an amazing obgyn so if you are looking for one, she is it. read more

i HAVE TO SAY , I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS DOCTOR . this is my first time to this office to have my annual physical check but have had such a bad experience. i CALLED FROM YESTERDAY FOR AN APPOITMENT. The office assistant told me they are too busy to do it and asked me to call after half an hour. My god, i called at least 15 times. every time the lady told me to hold or call after half an hour. What 's more, the ladies in this office sounded impatience when answering my phone which gave me a feeling as if I owned them a big fortune ! The doctor is also not friendly and unprofessional .she seems not willing to take time to listen to you and focus on the physical check.
